I had an argument with my parents. I think the worst one we ever had. My dad told me after, it doesn’t matter how you feel - you cant disobey us. I wonder if that’s why he’s so devoted to his religion. He views parenthood as a total authority rather than a partnership between parent and child. If he views god the same way, he won’t ever be alone, and will never be fatherless again.
But he isn’t god and I’m not very keen on appealing to him with devotion. I receive and I object, or I agree, and I decide if I want to give back. If god really is out there, it seems that he is not forcing his religion on any of us. It seems like he would rather we search for it, and find it, and decide on our own if we can open up to it. But he loves us all regardless and he listens, despite. Isn’t that what parenthood should be?
After hearing those words, I decided that I never, ever, want to be that kind of person, to be anything like my parents. I want to listen and care unconditionally. I think that brings me closer to his god than my father will ever be, even if it feels mean to say.

I hope we get some heavy summer rain this year. Lord do we need it.
This was a favorite summer memory from last year. A sunset on a stormy day making the mesas appear dark and gloomy, a rainbow peaking through as some pronghorn peacefully grazes on the green lush grass.
ive seen some beautiful and unique birds, but it is always nice to go outside and hear the ones that just stay in your little neighborhood, a pigeon or some dove, and listen to them sing. theyre living alongside you
