This feels weird writing this on a destiel blog, but this is the only space I feel comfortable enough sharing my sentiments about the future and hope others feel comfortable too, discussing their thoughts or recognition that they’re not alone.
I’m honestly grieving the loss of the future the US could’ve had. To know so many people would have rather voted for a rapist, convicted felon, and overall racist pig, over a woman of color who was so much more promising for our future. Instead we will see a greater amount of hate, as already shown with the new administration from Donald targeting immigrants and threatening mass deportations and queer/trans communities. Along with his right-hand man, Elon doing the Nazi salute on stage with a crowd cheering.
It is heartbreaking that even those who voted for him still do not fully understand the gravity of the situation. It’s tragic that their last act of freedom was to relinquish it. Many Americans have worried over the tiktok ban due to the concerns of censorship and propaganda, which is directly in our faces upon reopening the app to messages pushing for the guy who wanted to ban the app in first place. As for the argument of gas and groceries, how much is your freedom worth? 2 or 3 dollars off of eggs and milk? I’ve been told that it’s an over reaction or that he’s not really going to do that, when as a result of his first administration Roe v Wade was overturned due to his Supreme Court picks, a historic precedent completely changed so who is to say it won’t get worse. Especially when everyone at his side is either an idiot, loser, billionaire, or any of the above who is there simply to benefit themselves without any true consideration for the people.
It’s just so tiring to grieve and fear for the future and for those who are feeling the same way you are not alone. I hope you also hold on to the prospect that we the people will continue to push and fight for a better future.
