Pretty tea time ❄️☕️🎄 I've officially finished winter term and am heading into 4 weeks annual leave from Uni. Such bliss. It's the longest amount of time off I've had since starting my course and I'm deeply expectant and ready for resting, therapeutic bike rides and walks, time with family, much needed spaced out un-demanded time, talking and walking with God in that spacious abiding that sabbath-rest brings. I'm very aware that being a student may be the only time in my life that I get to experience these kind of extended gaps, so I will take hold of it with both hands and not regret a minute! Soho moments. Soho is such a wild place. There is an abrupt coming together of east, west, the new age and a craving for history, depth and meaning and shallow feeling. I walked past a door that said 'young Thai model upstairs', and we all know what that means... And a second later I'm distracted by some kind of intoxicating dim sum deal that catches my own senses and drives my mind to my stomach. I walk past windows of bookstores, with men and their beards pretending to read, and maybe some actually reading, drinking the best flat white ever and heading upstairs later to check out the antiques. I met a 20 year old Romanian girl sleeping rough because she came over for a job that fell through. She has to stay till her flight home in 1 month because she has no income to change the flight. She sleeps in the park. Buzzing and vivacious I'm reminded suddenly of KINKY BOOTS and LION KING and JERSEY BOYS and swanky, eager tourists queueing up to complete their weekend in London with the perfect treat: west end wonder. All in the same place I find these things. Beauty girls back on the snog bus. Felt kind of weird and definitely wonderful being back on the bus we spent our first afternoon together on almost a year ago. So much has happened since then!
