I used Unvale a few months ago to map out world building for the continent my story takes place on. Bits of it still need work and there is only concepts written out, but for the most part it won't change.
For those who don't want to read the Unvale post;
Somnos, or Somnium Temenos, is a continent split up into 4 sections each ruled by a seperate god. Those 4 gods decided to split the continent off from the rest of the world centuries before present day. An action they believed would preserve their people's dreams and livelyhoods, keeping them safe essentially.
The term Somnium Temenos is a mix of Latin and Greek words:
Somnuim; Noun, Latin
╰┈➤ dream, vision
or
╰┈➤ fantasy, daydream
Temenos; Noun, Greek
╰┈➤ a temple enclosure or court in ancient Greece
or
╰┈➤ a sacred precinct
I mixed the two words to make Somnus, the short term for the continent that most use. Each area within the continent is inspired by real life countries.
Inspired does not mean depicted exactly, especially when it comes to religious practices of said countries. Most of the inspiration I have taken is for the skin tones and physically appearance of those born in each district plus what the environment looks like.
I'll make another post detailing each district and what I mean.
This is my cyborg oc, M. I finally decided to do more with their story again as I gor motivation too and realized I haven't posted anything of them on here.
Their story is called What makes us human. A fantasy series that I'm working on, trying to hopefully turn into a comic soon, that walks through what it means to be human. It's an open ended question and statement and something that I've wondered a lot as a mentally ill kid growing up, so I'm using M as an extension to express that while also exploring parts of life that allow people to be human in nature, emotion, etc.
I'll post about them and their story here and on unvale so if you're interested be sure to follow :)
M's most recent design, that I will be changing because their present day outfit is atrocious as fun as it is.
Happy Valentine's day! I spent a while on this drawing and am so proud of it and glad I got it done before the day ended!
