"No need to explain, I understand the gravity of the situation.” almost as soon as he has room to move, Magnus is busy. Slowly moving his hands over the wall on either side of the door, washing it with a pulsing blue that highlights the formerly invisible warding as he passes it, “I’m just… well, I suppose you could say I’m just worried about the impending isolation. You’ll have your study and I’ll be left to navigate the politics of strangers. These are Hunters, after all. Who knows how well they’ll react to a Warlock in their midst.”
These markings are crude as Alec made them out to be. Magnus can see the pot holes in each and how to exploit them, change them or burn them away. Precious little would be held by these… scribblings.
Magnus pauses for a moment and it’s as if he can sense Alec reaching out for him. He almost looks back but then continues on to his busy work, “Oh, you know the age old story. Boy meets girl, girl turns out to be bait. I was a powerful Warlock, Alexander. They wanted to see what made me tick.” he finishes what he’s doing by finding a sigil that’s not drawn right and pressing his fingertips to it’s center, trying to suss out what it means. It’s not a pleasant memory and he never thought he’d have to share it with Alec, but such things have a way of making themselves known, “I guess I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. C'est la vie.” he offers with no loss in dignity, “They didn’t hold me for long.”
“Now,” he rests the palm of his hand over the door lock and it slowly shifts and clicks, “Safe as houses.” Magnus finally turns to look at Alec with soft eyes and a sad expression, taking one of his shoulders in hand, “It was a long time ago and those are memories I can’t let myself revisit. At least, not until we’re done here. Now, shall we?”
"No, Magnus." Alec reaches out again, and this time he makes contact and hooks his hand around his husband's velvet-clad bicep, a feeble attempt to stop him prancing off and away from a conversation they clearly need to have, "Wait - ."
He doesn't let Magnus go, just changes the nature of his touch. Smooths a hand over his shoulder to gently grip and rest at the back of his neck. Alec is trying for calm, breathing focused and quiet so that he doesn't lose his cool over even the faintest suggestion that anyone has ever been cruel enough to lay a hand on his entire reason for living --- that's not too intense, right?
With everything that's happened in the last year, though, it's hard to not feel intense. He's over-protective, but he's got every reason under the sun to be. They've almost lost each other so many times and it feels a hell of a lot like the universe conspires against them, even now. It's just the nature of the job and it always has been, and he knows this but it's hard to think rationally when something so ridiculously precious is on the line.
The world, though, is not going to take Magnus away from him --- he may only be one nephilim, but he's not above raining hell down on the lives of anyone or anything that makes a move in that direction. Again, with the fucking intensity.
He tries to lock their eyes, to still his shittier angels and keep collected, "Why didn't you tell me?" Alec finally turns Magnus loose, gently brushing bare knuckles against his cheek before letting that hand fall to his side, "Magnus, I wouldn't have brought you here if I thought Sam and Dean were a threat to us, but if you feel the slightest bit at risk then I want you as far away from Lebanon as possible." his voice drops to a hard whisper, but the delivery is soft, "All that matters to me is that you're safe."
