Intro
Hello and welcome to What's the Best Anime OP, a blog where you can vote for your favourite anime OPs - and eventually EDs too!
This blog is heavily inspired by and somewhat feels like a crossover episode of @bleach-smashorpass and @doyoulikethisanimesong-poll and the many other iterations the voting blogs that keep me coming back to tumblr. Additional shout outs to @bleachpolls, @whoishotteranimepolls, @doyouknowthisanime and @sanji-outfit-tourney
Q: How does this work? A: There is so much anime so we're starting in smaller units. Within in an anime series, all OPs will be pitted against each other in chronological order in a single-round elimination tournament to determine which OP is the fan favourite. Loser's rounds will also be held to determine the exact ranking of the OPs. I'll be starting with the Big 3 - Bleach, Naruto and One Piece.
After OPs are determined, a tourney will be held for EDs. Then the OP and ED will be pitted against each other to determine the winner!
Each poll will run for a week and each post will contain a link to the OP or ED if it is available on Youtube.
Q: What about short-running anime? A: For now I'm running with if an anime has more than one OP then it can be eligible for a tourney. For single season anime, I am considering creating groupings for these to allow these to run at some point. The most logical to me is What is the best anime OP 2024 [or insert any other year here] or What is the best mahou shojo OP [or insert any other genre here] but super open to any suggestions!
Q: What happens in the case of a tie? A: I will remove my own vote to determine the winner.
Q: Am I voting for the OP as a video or song? A: This is really up to you! I'd be interested to hear discussions on this once this blog is underway - what makes the OP best?
Q: Can I make a request? A: Absolutely! In fact please do - I'd love to go off what anime people are most keen to vote on.
Q: What anime can we expect? A: After the Big 3, I'd like to do Gintama (this and Bleach are actually the main motivator behind this polling). Other's floating in my mind are Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Shingeki no Kyojin, JJK, Demonslayer, Soul Eater, Nana...for a humble start at least!
Q: When will different anime OPs be pitted against each other? A: I can only assume it won't be for some time so please enjoy voting for your favourite in one franchise until later :~)
Q: Blog X already does this or has run something similar? A: Please let me know if this is the case! Before setting this up I did a wee search to see if such a blog exists but couldn't find anything. I am aware of blogs running tourneys for best OPs within in a franchise - if this is you and I have not sought permission, please let me know and let's talk. My goal is to do this as ethically as possible and uplift other anime voting blogs 🫶🩷
Q: Who are you? A: Just a humble blogger - you can call me Chappy (not the Chappy from bleach-smashorpass btw). My faves are Bleach and Gintama so really looking forward to those, but as a long time fan of anime I'm always excited to reminisce on great anime OPs and EDs so this will be fun!
