In a world ravaged by an unknown extraterrestrial force, ancient historical ruins lie buried deep beneath the earth. The remnants of a mysterious power continue to influence the realm, where the sun no longer graces the sky.
In this darkened world, temperatures soar year-round, while once-abundant edible crops become increasingly scarce. Humanity relies on excavating these historical remnants and repurposing them to reconstruct their society.
Jemaine is an archaeological adventurer who ventures into rainforests and plains in search of relics, studying mutated plants (and occasionally battling them). He explores underground temples, seeking traces of the extraterrestrial force in hopes of unraveling its identity. One day, in pursuit of a mechanical apple that holds the secrets of an alien civilization, he journeys into an unexplored mechanical jungle.
Along the way, he encounters Lou, an ancient and marvelous creature in search of companions...
As an adventurer, Jemaine is accustomed to solitude, largely because he struggles with communication (his mind often feels chaotic). Fortunately, Lou is a calm and friendly little being, gifted in song. Traveling with Lou brings Jemaine a sense of comfort. During a long trek one night, Lou sings while introducing him to the concept of the "calm inner voice," a presence within every living being.
In an unfortunate turn, they unwittingly plunge into a swamp that resembles a grassy meadow... They continue to descend, their breath growing shallow...
Upon awakening, Jemaine finds himself in an unknown underground temple, and Lou is nowhere to be found... Lou, too, is in a similar predicament. Feeling a bit panicked, he calls upon the calm inner voice for assistance...
As Lou's song reverberates and Jemaine ignites a torch, the temple begins to tremble. Plants burst forth from the brick walls, and terrifying trap mechanisms spring to life...
Three thousand years ago, a chance mechanical accident melded keyboards, steam engines, apple juice, clouds, mold, candles, and lightning into one. From this fusion, a musical being was born...
The sound was silenced...
No prayers were offered...
War descended...
Now, three thousand years later, accompanied by the echoes of song and faint warmth drifting within the temple, the war machine Bret slowly awakens from its slumber...

The archaeological adventurer does not falsify or exaggerate his archaeological findings.
Most of Jemaine's combat skills are developed through practice with martial arts dummies, and when he feels tired, he sleeps in his sleeping bag.
The war machine is not Video Kid...
