I have really neglected this blog. I just really don't have much spare time anymore and it sucks. I'll try and keep it active, but it might be awhie. One For The Baby, Two For The Show [Ottoman + Ukraine]

"I like Sezja and Antalya," he curls an arm around her waist when she moves closer to him. "Vira," he repeats, "I like Antalya tha best, personally but Vira is nice. I will look into Turkish names then," he has been so caught up in the worries of impending parenthood that he really hasn’t stopped to think of things like this.

Ottoman wouldn’t have a problem with giving the child his last name, it is his after all.

"Baby shower," he repeats like he is trying to figure out just what the hell that is. If she is planning on inviting people than it must be a party or something, "what is that exactly? It might be awkward, I wouldn’t want yer brother there because I can promise you that we would end up fighting at whatever this baby shower is. Ya can invite yer sister as long as she behaves." Ottoman doesn’t realize he is being too commanding, it just comes naturally to him. "I dun have anyone that would care to come," he huffs, "I guess I could invite Athena…" he thinks of inviting Greece but that probably wouldn’t end well either if he even showed up at all. "I’m afraid I ain’t very popular with people."

"Personally I like Vira," she chuckles. "Though Antalya is cute. I am sure once you think of a few names, we will have to really talk about it." Ukraine pets her stomach and smiles. "I think it would be nice for our baby to have a mixed name. A special name. Something she can be proud of, yes? This will be her only name. It will not have to change because of war, or conquest, or even because of the worlds changing ways. It makes me happy."

Katya listens to his apprehensive response to a baby shower and it isnt terribly surprising. Though he is doing the best that he can, she knows that he still hasn't grasped what he's doing. "It does not have to happen if you are not comfortable with it.  I know some friends will likely give us gifts whether or not we have the shower. I just thought it might be nice to have a little gathering with people who care about us. But I would like for it to be up to you. I will not put you through more than you can handle."

One For The Baby, Two For The Show [Ottoman + Ukraine]

Ottoman wasn’t a caretaker until he became Osmanli and the kids he had were nations he conquered so they already hated him from day one. This is the only experience he has with raising children however so needless to say he has a lot to learn. Sadik wouldn’t dream of leaving Ukraine alone with the baby unless he thought that was what was best for her and the baby but he knows Ukraine is busy and he is scared to say that he wants a second chance at being a father.

Sadik isn’t so afraid that he is unaware of the wonderful position he is in, he is getting what he has always wanted—at least as close to it as possible: he gets to be human. The Turk has a woman he loves and a baby on the way, this is as close to a normal family as he will probably get and it would be unbelievably stupid for him to fuck that up. This is what he had to comes to terms with when he ran off to stay with his friend for awhile. It is hard for him to accept that happiness because he is afraid it will be taken from him once he accepts it—once he gets comfortable with it. Introspection might not be his forte but he knows enough about himself to know that it is a huge fear of his, a motivating fear that will take his happiness from him before he can even experience it— if he lets it. 

The empire smiles when she excitedly tells him about the names, “of course, I dun blame you sevgili. What are tha names?” Sadik keeps his hand in hers feeling her worn hands…she is a warrior too, a worker but seeing her as a mother is easy for him and it is a good look for her.

"Well!" she says, scooting closer to him. "There is Sezja or Antalya, Daryna, but...I like the sound of Vira the most. What do you think? I mean, of course they each have their meanings and it doesn't necessarily need to be a Ukrainian name you know. She can have a first and a middle name though I do not know what we will do as a last name..."

Customarily, the child would get the fathers last name, but thats usually when the parents are married or going to be married or something along that route. And Ukraine refuses to leave her nameless. There is no way. No matter if its her own, she will have a family name to call her own in this world.

"Oh I just had a thought. Do think a babyshower would be too much? Or maybe just a little odd for this? I do not know how the others will react and I am not sure who would be invited..." Maybe that's something better left to Byzy. The two of them could plan a party. Sadik on the other hand might get a bit overwhelmed. "Something to think on, I suppose."
