April 2018, Surry Hills, Sydney. He started training, formally, at seven. By sixteen he had escaped the abject poverty of the favelas of Salvador, Bahia, using his hard earned skills as part of a travelling show. He passes this knowledge onto his children and his expectations are high, the subject matter sometimes brutal. Despite this the training is voluntary; if a child doesn't want to train, even after some coaxing, they are left to play. However once the session begins expectations are high and the results speak for themselves. The eldest child, currently nine, surpasses many adult students in his knowledge and ability.
