Taissa's character's death was for me one of the most harrowing moments of American Horror Story since it began. The scene is shot from the head cameras of the pair and therefore from their viewpoint, they beg for mercy but the silence that comes from the murders implies that they themselves are receiving no pleasure from the killings. Todd and Sophie are impaled on a pole and subsequently burnt alive but the silence that follows after looking through Sophie's view of herself burning alive is particularly disturbing and the scene cuts out but snaps you back into reality and allows you to reflect on just how horrifying the futile murders were.
“Pepper, leave the lady alone.” “It’s fine, she was only trying to make friends. It was harmless.” ”She’s not harmless, she drowned her sister’s baby and sliced his ears off.”
