Does the IWTV fandom understand that Armand and Claudia are both grown ass adults and infantilizing them is not only weird but antithetical to everything their characters and stories are about
Claudia holding Louis accountable for his actions since y'all refuse to see him as anything but a tortured victim
INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE 3.06: Montreal TVLTwT/IWTVTwT Version. +bonus bc op is very tired of seeing terrible takes online:
The Vampire Lestat is now streaming on AMC+. If you have the chance, please support the show by tuning in on the official platforms. Every view counts!
‼️SPOILERS AHEAD‼️
If this episode has proven anything about the current status of the fandom, it’s that not nearly enough people have read the books. So let’s talk about it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yes, that whole rant Claudia said was in fact on brand for her and is very much who she truly is and is what she actually thinks. She doesn’t particularly like either of them but Louis was always her pawn because he’s easier to manipulate than Lestat. That has been established in the books for a good while.
Yes, The specific things Claudia said to/about Louis was to hurt him and to get a reaction. Claiming the writers ruined the scene with that and saying Claudia would never is in fact wrong. I’m sorry. Claudia is vicious and brutal when she lets the facade drop and as she is constant pain and filled with anger in death, there’s no reason for her to sugar coat her feelings.
Armand will always be the most vicious vampire when it comes to enforcing the rules. BUT he will turn a blind eye if it’s something he’s doing that’s against them. That’s just who he is.
With The Vampire Chronicle’s, it’s is a known fact if you’ve read the books and paid attention that Vampires can live for a little bit without their heads attached to their body. So as long as it gets put back they will get back up. So, Armand and Daniel doing that was purely to stop Lestat and Louis from doing the concert. Armand wouldn’t actually kill Louis or Lestat, there’s no benefit for him in that, but temporarily making them incapacitated is beneficial for now.
Every single character in The Vampire Chronicles is complicated, trauma driven, and multidimensional. Every. Single. One. Excusing one characters actions by saying “they’re traumatized, it’s not their fault” but then turning around and not allowing the same thing for other characters is wrong. Again, I’m sorry. You can have a favourite character ( I clearly do too) but you still should have a basic understanding of the rest of them and know that they’re all very similar in so many ways.
At the end of the day, the choices made by writers are always intentional and serve a purpose for later seasons with this show. That’s been proven multiple times now. And people need to remember that ALL of these characters are bad. They are vampires, they are monsters, not human. Their emotions and actions are not logical to humans.
*edit because some people clearly are misinterpreting that last sentence:
By “Their emotions and actions are not logical to humans” I mean they feel more intensely and their actions represent that. So, what WE would deem unreasonable, unnecessary, or unforgivable, to them, it is something that could be logical in that moment or something that is more debatable morally.
You are entitled to your opinions and feelings about the show and the characters but that doesn’t change the story being told or who these characters are as a whole.
The Vampire Lestat | Anne Rice
Evil of my evil
silly husbands, never change
I honestly find it quite strange how some people who claim to love claudia refuse to accept that louis is also her abuser. Putting the blame entirely on lestat feels genuinely insane to me and i say this as someone whose favorite character is literally louis
Perhaps that's why episode 6 felt out of place to them, as this was quite clear to me from the minute he begged lestat to turn this child without her consent to fix their marriage and continued to use her as a way to appease his own guilt over the things he'd done
She was never truly her own person to him, rather an extension of himself and she knew this too so it's crazier to me that people are shocked she hated him just as much as lestat
I guess i also just fail to understand how we're watching a show about literal monsters and people are still having debates over who is more morally correct than the other
how did armand and daniel decide who gets to behead who. did they do rock paper scissors
YES i think the beheading is very much the vampire equivalent of a character like knocking someone out so they'll be quiet for a sec and stop making a bad situation worse. they're 100% planning on reattaching them
Right? Maybe a little more severe than that lol but Daniel was specifically told by Fareed that decapitation does not necessarily mean death to a vampire.
That being said, it would be really funny if Armand just got his fledgling and the fledgling of someone he hates to help him decapitate his ex boyfriends because he wanted to sew their heads onto each others bodies to see what would happen. (happened to my good friend, book Claudia)
Wow, it's the best episode of the season, I can't stop watching it...
I love the scene where Louis asks Lestat to pour blood into his glass.
I think... Lestat likes seeing Louis enjoy his blood. Maybe he thought he didn't like it after so much time.
It's a very potent little thing they share there.
Because Louis had refused Lestat's blood for SO LONG.
Because he had stopped feeding. Because of what happened with Claudia. Because of the separation after. Because of the book.
But Louis loves Lestat's blood. These vampires feel and can read things in the blood. And you betcha there was LOVE in that sip of blood.
And just look at the expressions there. Lestat is just... incredibly relieved/touched that Louis does drink his blood again, and Louis... Louis is just a little bit high on that love, right there.
“go to hell” is basic. it’s boring. “i hope your favorite book character of all time gets adapted in a way that has the majority of the fandom viewing them as a villain and rapist” is real. it’s terrifying. and it’s happening to me.
so i know that we have changed things from the books, but i do wonder how many people don't realize that the seance scene with claudia and her hating louis is book canon
The Vampire Lestat | 3.06 “Montreal” let's be offended with mama
I’m like 87% sure Daniel is gonna bowl with Lestat’s head in episode 7
You two hug it out for her too?
