Two socks complete!

My first pair 🙌

Exciting, satisfying and slightly addictive, I have moved straight on to the next pair, ignoring the very beautiful #WestGreenLoftYarns wool I have waiting to make a #PomPidou shawl.

I made a sock 🧦👏👏

My very first!

A friend helped get me started on the DPNs and then I figured out the rest as I went along (with the occasional ‘Heeelp!’ message to my friend.

There’s plenty of mistakes in it, including one side of the heel where all the stitches is picked up along the heel flap fell off my needle and I lost about three rows from that section.

Mistakes are useful because on sock number 2 - already in progress I know now where I need to fix and pay attention to so this one will be much better.

Sock One🧦 coming on. I ventured onto heel flap unaided and uninstructed!

After spending some time knitting the wrong part of the pattern (went onto heel shaping before knitting all the heel flap rows 🤦‍♀️). I eventually got back on track!

Incomplete sock glamorously modelled by cat 🐈‍⬛ again.

First sock ever is underway. A friend gave me a sock 🧦 tutorial at the weekend; made sure I was well and truly on my way with it and set me free to sock it up 😂

Sock one ☝️ in My Mama Knits 4 ply🧶 can’t remember the colour name, it was in the sale. Artfully displayed here on the back of a cat 🐈‍⬛

Trinigan done! It’s a variegated specimen as I stash busted some beautiful vegetable dyed Aran that I had from Loch Ness Knitting for the main colour and used three different stashed arans that I found for the contrast colours. Then the front and collar rib had to be finished in some very beautiful Spring Vale Aran from Mothy & the Squid. Finished it during a zoom session this morning. Just got ends to weave in later. This is my wrap up warm knit for cold days sitting at the laptop in meetings for hours.

Trinigan’s got two sleeves!

But… there’s not enough wool to do the collar 😱 and my only other Arans in the stash are just too different to be used for even this random multicoloured knitbeast! Emergency order to Mothy and the Squid for some additional hand dyed Aran that might just help pull all my colours together 🤞

Trinigan going well! Using up stash of LochNess Knitting hand dyed Aran and assorted hand dyes for contrast colours. Back and fronts all done. Waiting for daylight and cat free space to pop back as LS and RS fronts onto one long cable ready for three needle bind off across shoulders.
