This is more of a ramble, so bear with me 🙏
Ozias is a nephilim. These guys are children born from a fallen angel and a human woman. It is a big no no for an angel to conceive a child with a human because if a nephilim's dies, which is unavoidable since they are not immortal, it will set in motion a chain of events that will cause a catastrophe. When they die, the balance of the world shifts in favor of demons which is also a big no, no.
Unlike other species of demons, nephilim don't possess too many magical abilities. The one power they all have in common is that if consumed, their blood can heal the body. However, if it's consumed too much, the blood taints the human's soul so deeply that the individual becomes more like a demon than a human. It is best to grant them mercy and kill them since they'll die in agony shortly after anyway.
Ozias is the first nephilim to be conceived after centuries. He was also born in a cult that worshipped his father and used human sacrifices as offerings. Since they were worshiping the angel, by default they worshipped Ozias too.
But hey, Ozias at least is lucky to be born in the modern world, unlike his siblings who were born in a time that the mortality rate of children was at an all time high. Ngl, he's probably the first to make it to 16.
Ozias is pretty shy and he doesn't really speak much. However, he is very curious. If something or someone catches his attention he will interact with it/them. Or just stare like a freak. He does that a lot actually.
He is pretty fond of animals, especially birds. Idk, something about birds and freedom. He liked to watch them fly around, but the more he looked at them, the more envious he became. Sometimes, he wished he could fly away too.
Also, due to the cult's mistreatment, he has a hard time managing and understanding his emotions. When he's stressed or becomes too overwhelmed, he has the habit of scratching his skin. When this happens, he usually goes for the skin around his neck. Sometimes, he also starts to pull on his hair.
As a hobby, he likes to read. That's how he used to pass the time since he very rarely was allowed to leave his room. But most of what he read were books provided by the cult and the cult leader's writings. He prefers real books more because they offer a wider variety and don't tell something over and over again until it gets tiring.
He has developed abandonment issues that stem from his mother leaving and from his childhood friend's death. To suppress this trauma, he shifted the blame on the girl and accused her of leaving him behind. Even now, the memory of her still haunts him.
At 16 he was about to be sacrificed but he managed to fight back and kill the leader in the struggle. Then some hunters sent by the Church arrived and killed everyone there before burning down the place. Most of the followers were already corrupted to the point of no return because they were consuming Ozias's blood thinking it would bless them, which of course it didn't. Luckily, he managed to hide and escape. Not on his own, but whatever. That is another whole character I need to talk about. Maybe another time.
