Say what you want about Ghost in the Shell (2017) w/ Scarlett Johansson . That being said, I haven’t seen the anime yet. That’s next on the list. I know. I know. I did it in reverse for all you purists out there. 🤣 I’ll leave that for another episode of change my mind. ✌️ forgive the digression.

The conversation about human consciousness (soul) in the mind or body is a good staring point into AI merging with humans to create the next human. The evolution. Wow... the mind reels at the possibilities! How would one truly know the conscious of a person truly exist, from our own verily limited perception of reality? How could you really test that it isn’t a memory (ghost) just being the ghost “it” remembers? Isn’t that just Us? Or the real possibility is that the merging of consciousness being the next “human” evolution? As far as it’s known we are nature’s AI, originally speaking. Mamoru Oshii (Director of the anime movie) said in an interview, "To question what sort of society will be born from the close interaction of man and technology, and how that will transform human existence." I have some issues with what was said in that interview. But it leads nicely into how America is almost unique to the next argument, being the melting pot we are supposed to be.

Then you have a the whole white man’s western culture creeping in to Japan’s soul. The original anime was written in Within the guise of promise and riches only gained by there of weaponized “technology”. It white washed the main character with Scarlett. But. Her brain was that of an Japanese girl who rebelled against the system she was reborn into by way of cybernetics. The original snafu of casting Scarlett, where the artist are directly pointing the finger back at the money behind a movie as the artist will always point it out. Paramount owns Dreamworks AKA Disney. The artist will always find a way tho throw shit back.

Storyline, I think was pretty solid, maybe a little contrived. But on the whole told the story very well. I might have another post about (or because of) the anime, after it's in the rearview of conciousness.

Overall: 4 buttholes (man, I hope somebody gets this)

Growing up with emotional abuse makes you want to avoid people when you feel bad instead of seeking someone out.

Because your abuser always told you you weren’t really upset.

Or that your being upset is ruining everyone else’s mood.

Or that you’re being a baby.

Or that you need a thicker skin.

Or you’re told to go away until you can be a decent person again.

You believe your feelings don’t matter unless you express the “right” ones the “right” way at the “right” time, and you can never do it “right.”

You believe everybody has it worse, so there’s no point in talking about it when you feel bad.

It’s easier to isolate yourself when you’re sad, angry or hurt because it feels easier than “inflicting” yourself on somebody else.

Even when there are beautiful people in your life who say you can always come to them, you still don’t because you’re scared.

That is what sits at the center of who I am. It’s like an abscess that won’t pop or drain. And when it hurts, it hurts.

This is a dark time in my life. A mirror has been placed in front of me, by so many, so many times. And yet, this time is the first time in my life I've dared to look into it... And of course I don't like what I see. I am beginning to see me for who I am. Selfish, untrustworthy, a liar, hateful, judgmental... But you can't have one without the other. If there were no light, you would have no dark. If there is no wrong how would you have right? Anxiety is those things in which I project on to others I wish to control. Reality is subjective to the viewer. Being "right" is subjective to the one "wronged".

I may be rambling (my insecurity), I think I do that a lot, especially in writing. Disconnected thoughts just being spewed into text. Is confusion of oneself, an illusion of the ego protecting itself? Even if the ego truly doesn't exist?

When the Trump Tower meeting was uncovered, the President instructed his son and staff to lie about the meeting, and told them precisely which lies to use.

A woman was denied pants or tampons after being arrested for not completing a diversion course that was part of her sentencing from a shoplifting charge. But see how the judge reacts when she finds out that the prisoner’s humiliating treatment is apparently routine.

This is why it’s so important to vote for your local judges after doing a minimal amount of research. Most people just pick whatever judge is there or has a funny name, but this woman is changing the way prisoners are treated and she was voted in by the county. Always do your research before voting for judges, but don’t discount it as unomportant. You may need someone like her on your side one day.
