@acapsiicle , from h e r e.
It was painful; on a level that struck down deep. It reached down into something he didnât even know was inside him to be broken, crumbling like roots slowly pulling the foundation of a house to pieces. His shoulders were tight like a taut rubber band but the fight was flickering in his eyes. Face held still, his expression begged. He would have been on his knees, given the chance. âSteve.â Shame heated his face and red-rimmed his eyes at the tears in his voice. âDonât do this. Donât turn me back into that again.â
call her delicate and sheâd just as quickly snap your neck as pat you on the head. itâd be a lie to say that this is the first time lokiâs woken with a knife at the her neck but it is the first time itâs been held there by someone she loves. closest sheâd come was an ill-fated prank when she and thor were just children and the other asgardian youths had found what was cruel, funny. thereâs an urgency though to this wake up call that there hadnât been then though. because this is bucky. sweet bucky. who beats himself up over every action but thereâs a strange clarity in his eyes now that makes loki draw in a sharp breath. whatever this is, it doesnât look like a flashback. that makes it worse. because when loki hurts bucky, or if bucky hurts her there will be a lot of nursing ââ of assuring bucky there arenât hard feelings, to do.
â not that i donât love a wake up call, buck, but what do you plan on DOING with that? you know you canât kill me. i just come back. â
continued from ( here. ) @whitcncise
His head tilts just so to the right, eyes flicking over her face, her hands and neck. âWonât kill you,â he admits, the knife not budging a hair. A certain cagey air hangs over his shoulders; makes him shift from foot to foot. He hears a ticking clock, somewhere in with all the buzzing. They need to move now. The Soldier canât think of anything beyond getting the god to come with him, and if that means blood needs to be shed, heâll do what he needs to do. Itâs what heâs always done; what is necessary. The next words out of his mouth are casual, matter of fact. Words from a weapon whoâs been sharpened to a fine point against the whetstone. âBut it will cause pain.â He presses the knife up, not enough to draw blood yet. But it is sharp.
đ (ohohohohoho)
âYou were his.â His voice is clearer he remembers; itâs usually dusty with disuse but now it sounds like it could belong to anyone. His mind quickly filed it away, it wasnât important. He weighs the gun in his palm, something compact, matte black and deadly. âThat means heâll come.âÂ

He closes his hand around the head of the arrow, expression almost curious as his eyes flit down the shaft, the fletching. He squeezes his hand a little, the shining surface gleams as it detonates with a muted noise inside his fist. Finally, his head raises, face turning towards Barton. His expression is utterly blank.

His mindââ the gentle whirrr-clicking of a computer hard drive running. He was very close to where he needed to be; not exactly a four hour drive. Previous mission a failure, he needed this. He wasnât allowed imagination if it didnât pertain to completing a task, but he didnât need imagination to remember the kiss of the deep freeze. It was his destination if he couldnât return and properly kiss his masterâs feet. Robbed of his normal tools, he rifled through the kitchen drawers and closed his hand around a paring knife. Too many made the mistake of believing larger meant better. A knife was a knife was a knife; all that mattered was that it was slide home correctly. Now, he rested the point against the the soft dip between collarbones, rising and falling gently with sleep.âGet up.âÂ

â right, my apologiesâŠbucky. but yes, it is very believable. though i am sure you are happy to be near home, yes?? steve mentioned his hometown. â she was glad to hear he was doing alright. she knew how much he had been through, if anyone could understand it was her. though she had gotten out sooner than he did. â i am very glad to hearâŠÂ â a smile appearing on her face, though it sooner faltered. â things are alright⊠certainly better than they were. â she replied referring to the cell she had been in along with the rest of the âcriminalsâ who supported him. â though being here comes with itâs new challenges. people i did not know existed are saying they are family. and the family i knew are coming back from the DEAD. i doubt you met my twin brotherâŠÂ â wanda huffed out a small laugh. â and now i am rambling. my apologiesâŠagain. â
Being home was...kind of a mixed bag for Bucky, in truth. It felt like it belonged to another person; one who worked twelve hour shifts at the docks, who came by any muscles he had honestly, who might have pretended to be hard to scare off any neighborhood toughs, but really had only ever waded into a fight to pluck out Steve or have his back. The Bucky that had called Brooklyn his home had no blood on his hands. That Bucky had never squeezed the life from a woman whoâs last thought was of her son. âMostly. Some of itâs...strange,â he said, a strange kind of smile crossing his face. âDoes that feel like a good thing?â He asked, voice free of judgement. He didnât know her very well, and he wouldnât have held it against her if she was uncertain or unhappy about family materializing that she was unfamiliar with. âItâs fine, I donât mind.â

â i did not expect to see you here, mr. barnesâŠÂ â wanda knew who it was without even turning around. a blessing and a curse. wanda was here, away from a cell and away from harm, yet she felt no comfort. maybe because there was still a part of her that was afraid of what people would think of her. she saw steve and bucky fly off at the airport, though the rest was a bit unclear. the only thing she heard from the moment she was locked up was that he wasnât framed, which she already knew. â my apologies. it has been quite a long day. â she finally said, as she turned to face him. â how have you been doing?? â
He hadnât expected to see her here either but he couldnât say that she was an unwelcome sight. Already, a small amused smile was curving the corners of his mouth. âPlease, call me Bucky. Iâm definitely okay with pretending Iâm...â What was the last birthday he remembered? Twenty eight? He knew technically he was ninety nine but. âIn my twenties.â There, easy. âTodayâs been a long week,â he says, huffing a laugh. âI think Iâm alright, nothing to complain about.â Bucky gave a little shrug. âHowâre things...now?â He asked, forehead creasing between his eyebrows now. He knew very well that theyâd paid the price for helping him and Steve. Another favor heâd never be able to repay.Â
she looks at the image, brows furrowed slightly and a small smile playing at the corners of her lips. photographs seem to her a - a double edged sword. in one instance they might bring joy at seeing a loved one again, though in another all they may wreck is pain upon the viewer. all hawke knows is that she would kill to have an image like this of bethany. the family had been too poor for portraits all through hawkeâs little sisterâs life, and while it had never bothered marian then - - - it does now. âshe sounds like my sister - bethany was always getting herself into some sort of mischief when she was a child.â hawkeâs voice is somewhat fond as she looks at the photo and shrugs. âi am sure she was grateful for the time she had with you.â
A smile curves his mouth, but itâs bittersweet. âThink thatâs a little sisterâs job, tâget into all kinds of trouble. Itâs hard not to. To mourn all the time I missed. That I didnât get tâscare her boyfriends. Or steal her spot on the couch while sheâs tuning the radio.â Bucky sighs, but itâs not as heavy as it might have been. âBut I guess thereâs no point in wishes like that.â He turns his gaze back up toward her. âHow much younger was Bethany from you?â
loki looks at him, looks over the fine but broad lines of his face, of his features. they put so much stock in purity of heart, of mind, but itâs darkness that heart beats for, innate and so deeply personal. it takes â itâs daring to SHARE your darknesses with someone else, and he sees them in the set of buckyâs lashes, in the way he looks at him. and loki wants it. wants the man with a surprising intensity. loki nods and helps pull his own shirt off, finding the spot where buckyâs neck meets his jaw and pressing a kiss there as bucky does much the same, drawing out a pleased little sound.    â yes, mostly though, i just want you, any way youâd have me, â   the truth of those little statements always catches him off guard.    â i could be a woman if you wanted, but something tells me youâre hardly against the male form, â    itâs meant lightly, he hopes it conveys.    â i just â you get me, iâm sure â this is a bad spot to go at each other, â    he concedes and then heâs pulling bucky, away from the random wall theyâve found themselves against and towards his room.
Even with his heart hammering in his chest; brain on the here and now, he still huffs a laugh, his hands still sliding slowly up and then slowly down against the skin of Lokiâs back. âOnly if thatâs how youâd like to be right now,â he says, smile tipping into something of a smirk. âIâm very attracted to both.â And yes, maybe his easy nature at this moment is more than helped along by those tiny statements of truth that keep tumbling out of them both. The Bucky Barnes of 1939, he was no stranger to desire. For this new man, who was built of the pieces of that boy; put together in different and sometimes frightening ways, being needed like this was a little more unfamiliar for him. âYeah, letâsââ The mumbled words are hastily cut off as he leans back in. Bucky pulls his hands out of Lokiâs shirt, to reach up and card through the hair at the base of his neck. It makes it easier to bend just slightly to press his lips back to skin, nose nuzzling just above where his shoulder curves up into his neck. Heâs only too happy to be lead off; as long as heâs still allowed to touch.

âintimateâ meme -Â look at photos together - @wingedchamp
âYeah uh. This is Becca, I think sheâs...about six or seven here?â He squints at it, trying to sort through the hair he has in the photo and how many teeth his sister is missing. âShe loved to climb trees. Was always cominâ home with skinned knees and muddy socks.â Bucky laughs a little, even though he has a few lines between his eyebrows. âIt just. It seems like she should be a teenager. Not...ninety.â
There was nothing but fondness in his smile and gaze. Steve had gotten used to being around people in this century, it was like a breath of fresh air to be reminded of how things used to be â the good things, that is. âOh no, donât tel me yaâ like the banana flavor candy, Buck! Iâm gonna have to disown yaâ now, âm afraid.â His smile only widens at the expression. âYeah, itâs a real tragedy that they died out. Guess weâll have to live on our memories of âem.â
âAnâ if I do?â The stubborn shtick lasted for all of thirty seconds. âHonestly, itâs all just as terrible as it used to be, I thought maybe that would be one thing they improved on,â Bucky made a face, even as he finished off his peach. âThe banana taffy wasnât too bad. But the strawberry was still better.â He narrowed his eyes briefly. âLetâs pretend like I...havenât tried and retried several different kinds of candy. Letâs say...â He gestures, somewhat dramatically. âIt was in the interest of scientific exploration.â
â â â â â he isnât sure what made him ask to begin with. the careful silence had been so nice and then loki had gone and ask a question that demanded a hard answer, an actual answer despite himself. not that their relationship, this odd threesome that was made as much of ideas and hopes as it was of men, would ever be particularly easy. they would live long but even if the love was somehow true they would die on him. loki listens and eventually he nods, still frowning.   â  â you never wanted it, â â he thinks aloud. â  â to do what you were doing, right? it was always just programming wasnât it, â â  he couldnât say that, the same of his OWN circumstance. somewhere in loki just dwelled a legitimately bad person, with a mortality as fragile, as transparent as a dragon fly wing. if steve was a nightingale, and bucky a raven, he was a crow. no symbolic beauty to the crow â just a warning.
â â â â â loki finds it new that heâd give up a good portion of himself to make their lives easier. when heâd been younger his trickster nature had kept his desire to change the fate of others to a minimum. as an adult itâs difficult to know that he can help but heâs obliged not to. bucky barnes and steve rogers are a good story, and as the god of stories â he would know. but he considers it a small blessing that he manages not to sulk. â â the light and the dark are awful, â â he says, largely to himself as he moves closer to bucky, pausing to put a hand on his shoulder, and then rest his chin there as well. â â i want the two of you happy, â â his voice is unexpectedly d r a w n. his lashes heavy on his cheeks as he breaths in the smell of buckyâs skin. â â i am a frost giant. had it not been supressed when i was a child i might give you frost burn â not intentionally, but â â
âI didnât want...â He licks his lips as he considers, parsing out his next words. âTo have the choice taken away. To see myself actâ like I was just some voice, trapped in the back of someone elseâs head. But I mean.â This is difficult, this admittance. âBack during the war, after Steve swept all us damsels outta Azzano and made his own group aâ knights. I didnât have the most glamorous of jobs. I was one of âem that cleared the way. Sniper. Watched Steveâs back with my rifle.â He gives a slight shrug with the shoulder that doesnât have Loki resting against it. âI liked that I was good at it.â âWeâre happy with you,â he says lightly, leaning his temple against Loki, eyes shuttering closed again. Heâs comfortable; which is a rare enough occurrence. âWe like having you.â Itâs something heâd never expected or planned for, but he dared someone to come and pry this happiness out of his hands. âThatâs what the accelerated healing factor is for,â he says, mouth quirking up a little as he leans into Loki more. Itâs meant as a joke, but itâs an interesting thought, that perhaps they were all suited so well for each other in ways it was impossible to account for.
