Named Avis Rook, he was given the alias Destiny after he joined Hydra when he was thirteen. They trained with Hydra for six years before deserting them after killing his superior. Exactly what happened between him and his superior is unknown. (It's known but Destiny nor Hydra have any reason to tell people.) They have been out of Hydra's grasp for a few years now and work mainly under G.A., an rescue and backup operation that avoids being classified as a Private Military by having more medics and runners than official soldiers.

He talks with a slight Russian accent and tends to forget articals (the, a, an). They often dress in dark clothes and fishnets, intentionally breaking styrotypical masiculine fashion styles. They have short blond hair that they usually dye a dark brown.

Karma had a brother. The idea was still odd; they'd never mentioned them. Matthew Tribech. He was about five years older than Karma and had spent the last few years in jail for assisting in the attempted murder of a minor.

Surprisingly enough, Karma had agreed to meet him. The requirement was that it was in a public space and Karma's family came with. They were clearly a little nervous.

Thankfully, Matthew recognized the group, as he looked nothing like his brother. He was of a fairly average height with dark curly hair and fairly pale skin with bronze undertones. He offers a hesitant smile, standing to meet them.

"Hi! Oh, Karms, you've gotten so tall-"

Karma shrinks behind the closest person who can see the pain flash through Matthew's eyes, though he doesn't say anything.

The Cockatrice flinches before dipping her head down, clearly bracing for a fight. They bare their fangs, silently giving him a glare.

She covers her sibling with her wings, blinking.

“Sorry first.”

It says matter of factly, having no idea what for. It’d seen Karma’s reaction, that’s all she needed.

"I'm sorry?"

He pulls back. He could recognize the universal preparing for a fight stance. Besides, he hadn't meant to scare Karma.

Karma peers around Trice, staring wide-eyed at Matthew. They pat Trice as if to tell her it's okay.

It remains on edge until Karma giving her that reassurance. Trice blinks, relaxing slightly.

She turns to Karma with a worried expression, chirping. It didn’t exactly understand, but it couldn’t let Karma be scared.

“Big brother not bad?”

She asks quietly, attempting to keep it to a whisper.

"I don't remember," they sign, glancing between it and Matthew.

Matthew stands awkwardly, not sure if he should speak.

“Confused..” she mumbles.

It turns to Mathew, trying to seem polite despite its overprotective nature. Her feathers were on end, giving away her calmer tone.

“Want talk?”

"Me? I just wanted to see Karma... It's fine.. if he doesn't want to talk.. I can go." Matthew takes a small step back with an unsure smile.

“They choose.”

They lift a wing to look at Karma.

They shrug and sign, "we should get drinks first. Soda."

Matt looks between them, then very slowly asks Trice. "They? Am I... Am I misgendering my brother?"

Karma giggles.

“Yes. Terms are get soda, before talk.”

She states this matter of factly, nodding.

“Soda good. Can get it taste fruit.”

Matt nods slowly. "That's true and I accept those terms. I'll pay."

Karma nods along with Trice, still holding their hand tightly.

It starts walking off, gripping Karma’s hand in return as it motions for Matt to follow suit.

They’d find a good place to drink soda and talk.

Matt follows and buys them soda, then they sit down. Karma fidgits and then briefly leaves them to grab their AAC. They set it down between them, but can't seem to think of anything to say.

Matt clears his throat. "So...uh... are you two...siblings now?"

It nods, pointing to Karma then itself.

“Big sister.”

It says with a confident puff of its feathers, despite the clear age difference between the two.

Trice nudges their arm with her forehead affectionately, as if to show they were family.

Karma nods happily. It was easier for them to be the little sibling anyway. They tap "Love" on the AAC.

Matt smiles. "I'm glad."

Trice looks over at Matt, tilting their head.

“Also Karma sibling? Confused.”

It asks, genuinely looking for answers in its question. It wanted to know why Karma felt this was important..

"I was," Matt replies slowly. "But I wasn't very good at it and I had to leave for awhile."

Karma nods. That seems as good an explanation as any.

“Train to be good at it?”

Mod is holding Karmas hand. He gives their hand a soft squeeze to let them know he’s got them.

“Hey there, Matthew right? My name is Mod. Im Karmas guardian.”

"Uh...yeah.. I don't really go by the whole thing. Just Matt." He offers a hand. "It's nice to meet you Mr. Mod. I really 'priciate y'all doing this."

“Of course. You two can talk all you like. I’ll just be here to make sure nothing happens. Not that I think something will.” He shakes his hand.

Matt nods, turning to Karma. It takes awhile for the two to figure out how to talk. Matt doesn't know sign language and Karma is not comfortable enough to try to talk. Karma does remember that Mod has a notepad in his bag and when they go to search in it, they are very happy to find that their dad guardian has packed their AAC.

Mod pulls out the AAC and sets it up for them. He goes back to answering emails.

Karma sits next to Mod, across the table from Matt. The two talk for a little while before just sitting in comfortable silence. They are understandably, not very close.

Mod takes notice of this. “So Matt. What have you been up to these days.”

"Me?" He fidgits with his drink. "Trying to get a job so I can rent an apartment of some kind."

“Ah. That’s good. If you need a little assistance my company offers financial aid.”

"Really? Even with my uh...criminal record?" He lowers his voice at the last part, his cheeks darkening.

“Well. I generally believe in second chances. As long as someone genuinely wants to change and improve. If you don’t mind me asking. What were you charged with.”

"A bunch of things that all boils down to being partially to blame for... that is they..." He trails off.

Karma steps in, signing, "same thing Dad was charged with except helping and because he lied to the cops."

“I see.” Mod says. “I assume you want to put that behind you. Right?”

"Of course. But 'tried to kill a child' kind of puts people off. Most people turn me away. If you aren't going too, then I'd be happy to accept finicial aid."

“I can most certainly do that. I can provide you some paperwork and schedule an appointment for an approval meeting.” Mod says.

"I'd appriciate that, thank you." He gives Mod a grateful smile.

Karma makes a slightly insulting sign in Matt's direction, basically calling him a bum and then sticks out their tongue.

Mod pinches Karmas side. A signal meaning be nice. “Of course. I’m happy to help.”

Karma coughs and look offended. Matt looks between them and decides he does not want to know what Karma was saying.

“So. Do you have any interests?”

"I guess? I paint dolls sometimes."

“That sounds interesting. I assume you do it just as a hobby.”

"Well, not at first. It was like this doll hospital thing I did and then I realized I enjoyed it."

"Well its good to have hobbies. I'm glad you found something you enjoy."

"Yes. It's very nice. Um...what do you do?"

"I am the founder and CEO of The Moderators. You may have heard of our philanthropy work."

"Yes! I have seen stuff about y'all on TV and I think there was like a thing with you guys trying to get better clothing for long term inmates. Which was much appreciated by the way."

“Of course. The prison system is very corrupt so providing better conditions is a must.”

"But other than your job, surely you have hobbies you do?"

“Indeed. I collect knives. I also am a coffee enthusiast.” It’s easier to say that than that you have an addiction.

"Ah-" So this was a scary hobby type of guy. "I see. That's cool."

“I have knives from all over. It’s an interesting thing to collect.”

"Like all over the world? Do you travel a lot?"

“A little bit. Mostly for work.”

"Interesting. This moderator thing... I don't suppose you're hiring?"

"Yes. I am. I think it's exactly the kind of job I'm looking for." He smiles, glancing once at Karma. The teen has completely zoned out and is just staring out the window.

"Well I will make sure to send you an application. We also give out recommendations if it doesn't work out with us."

Mod checks with Karma to see if they are doing alright.

Karma notices the attention and looks over at him. They grab their AAC and type, "Matthew likes hello kitty? Question."

Matthew blinks. "That was years ago. I haven't really thought about it."

Mod chuckles. “Didn’t peg you as a fan of that.”

"It was a huge deal when I was a kid. Someone mixed up gifts at like a charity thing that my mom signed up for and I got more 'feminine' gifts, including some hello kitty merch. I fell in love and my dad hated everything pink, it was interesting."

“I see. My father was the same way. He hated when my mother ‘nurtured’ me because he thought it was not manly enough. But my father is a drunken wretch so who cares what he thinks. Sorry, probably a bit more than I should’ve shared.”

"Ah. Then we share a similar background." He shrugs. "I've had worse unneeded information handed to me. Yes, my father certantly had a image in his mind as to what was manly and I did not fit it."

“I doubt he would have ever been happy. That’s the thing about people like him and my father. They make up for their own shortcomings and failures by making their children suffer the consequences of not falling into how their parents want them to be.” Mod says.

"He liked me." Karma looks rather smug for someone who almost got killed by said father.

Matthew blinks again, trying to figure out this new personality his siblings has developed. "Uh...I mean... I guess he did. Up to a point."

“Karma.” Mod warns with a nudge. “My father was of the opinion that you needed to know how to fight to be a man. But with how much he drank he could barely keep his balance. I once knocked him over and he never got more angry at me.”

Matthew leans against one elbow, listening closely. It is of some comfort to know that the man taking care of his little sibling understands what they went through. "He was probably just trying to live through you."

“Exactly. That’s all they do. They failed in their life so they take it out on their kid. It’s really a shame.” He says shaking his head. Though it looks more like twisting his neck.

"Mhm." Matthew opens his mouth, interrupted by Karma making another statement arguing against what Mod said. He could not understand why the teen felt the need to defend their father.

“Karma. That’s quite enough.” Mod says. “Sorry. Continue.”

Karma huffs childishly, but stops and goes back to staring out the window.

Matt fidgits with his drink. "I...can't remember what I was going to say. Sorry."

“It’s alright. But truly I am glad to hear that you are improving. It’s always good to see someone wanting to change for the better.”

"Yeah." He looks down at the table. "I'm doing my best."

“That’s all I ask of those who work for me.” He slides a card across the table. “This has all the info for the address and who you see about interviewing.”

"Thank you." He takes the card, clutching it tightly like it's a life line that he cannot afford to loose.

“It looks like our time is almost up. You ready to go soon Karma?” Mod looks down at Karma to check on them.

Karma nods, sitting up. Mod can tell that they are thinking about everything that happened. He'll probably hear about it that night. And the next few nights.

“Well. It was nice meeting you Matt. I look forward to seeing you during orientation.” Mod helps put away Karmas AAC.

"Thank you. " He stands up grabbing his stuff as well. "I'll see you around." He gives a little wave to Karma before leaving. Only after he's gone do they wave back.

Mod looks down at karma. “Hey, you doing alright?”

Karma blinks up at him, signing, "thinking. I dont' know."

Destiny is just going about his day, walking around, when he suddenly gets grabbed and dragged through the nearest door. When he realizes what has happened he finds himself in a room he vaguely remembers being in once before, Hemlocks bedroom. The kitsune holding him is shaking, burying his face in Destinys shoulder and wrapping his tails around them. "S-sorry..."

Destiny yelps, startled and momentarly afraid. The moment he realizes who it is, he relaxes some what, wrapping his arms tightly around Hemlock and nuzzling him. "Hey- Hey, babydoll...what happened? Are you alright?"

He shakes his head, whimpering softly and hugging Destiny. "S-sorry- w-was gonna b-bother m-mom but shes n-not home a-and I dont-" He cuts himself off with another whine, burying his face further into his partner.

"It's alright. You're okay." Destiny pets him, running quickly through all of his training. "Can you breath with me?"

He does a small nod, trying his best to copy Destiny.

"Good job!" Destiny pulls back just slightly to look him over and check that he is physically unharmed. "Okay. Let's try again. Tell me what happened. You don't have to go into details."

The response Destiny gets is not English, its not even verbal, the air switches between scents that Destiny has no way of translating, other then understanding the negative connotations of most of them. Hemlock drags his partner onto the bed, curling up against them in a childish manner. His tails curl around and he hugs them to his chest tightly, a nervous habit of his thats Destinys probably picked up on, but for once it looks less like a subconscious search for comfort, and more like he's being protective over the furry appendages.

All of the separate actions and scents on their own would have been meaningless to Destiny, but combined they put together an idea that he didn't like at all. Something had scared Hemlock, specifically something related to being a Kitsune. He knew Hemlock's past well enough to know how scary that could be for him.

He gives Hemlock more pets as he thinks this over. "Okay. That sounds really scary." He would have responded the same if Hemlock had been throwing French at him. "You're safe right now. No one is going to hurt you here. I promise."

He hides his face in Destinys chest. Hes silent for a while, just cuddling in Destinys arms. When he does finally speak English, his voice is quiet, barely a whisper, and full of fear and sorrow, like he's on the verge of tears.

"Kitsune Hunter... almost took my tails... wasn't strong enough..."

"Hm." He rubs Hemlocks back, humming softly as he thinks. "You got away, so you must have been strong enough. I'm sorry that happened to you. I'm going to find a way to help prevent it from happening again."

"Stroke of luck... still got captured. Thought..." He whines, not finishing the statement, but its clear just from knowing him what he meant. He thought he was stronger then that. Above such things.

"I know." They kiss his forehead. "It was a bad day, that's all. It's not a sign of the overall fact. You are really strong and amazing."

It had been a little while since Hemlock had saved a version of Avis that still had his little brother. And truthfully, he worried about them. Seeing them in The Hotel had just cemented the idea in that he had to go visit. So after a little bit of searching and a trip to go annoy Mod into telling him where the kids are, he finds himself slowly sneaking up on Avis in fox form, and nuzzling against his legs.

Initially, Avis does not notice, just mumbling, "not now Tigger." Clearly assuming it was just his cat bothering him. He was hunched over a desk completely focused on a stack of homework that he'd left until the last minute.

Adri was curled up on the couch, watching a tv show. His wheelchair pushed nearby and a weighted doll in his lap.

It is a fairly small kitchen, although it is clear that they tried to make it accessible for Adri, adding bars and lowering the counters. There are a few dishes on the counters and more in the sink, but overall its not overwhelming.

"Ah. Then we share a similar background." He shrugs. "I've had worse unneeded information handed to me. Yes, my father certantly had a image in his mind as to what was manly and I did not fit it."

“I doubt he would have ever been happy. That’s the thing about people like him and my father. They make up for their own shortcomings and failures by making their children suffer the consequences of not falling into how their parents want them to be.” Mod says.

"He liked me." Karma looks rather smug for someone who almost got killed by said father.

Matthew blinks again, trying to figure out this new personality his siblings has developed. "Uh...I mean... I guess he did. Up to a point."

“Karma.” Mod warns with a nudge. “My father was of the opinion that you needed to know how to fight to be a man. But with how much he drank he could barely keep his balance. I once knocked him over and he never got more angry at me.”

Matthew leans against one elbow, listening closely. It is of some comfort to know that the man taking care of his little sibling understands what they went through. "He was probably just trying to live through you."

“Exactly. That’s all they do. They failed in their life so they take it out on their kid. It’s really a shame.” He says shaking his head. Though it looks more like twisting his neck.

"Mhm." Matthew opens his mouth, interrupted by Karma making another statement arguing against what Mod said. He could not understand why the teen felt the need to defend their father.

“Karma. That’s quite enough.” Mod says. “Sorry. Continue.”

Karma huffs childishly, but stops and goes back to staring out the window.

Matt fidgits with his drink. "I...can't remember what I was going to say. Sorry."

“It’s alright. But truly I am glad to hear that you are improving. It’s always good to see someone wanting to change for the better.”

"Yeah." He looks down at the table. "I'm doing my best."

“That’s all I ask of those who work for me.” He slides a card across the table. “This has all the info for the address and who you see about interviewing.”

"Thank you." He takes the card, clutching it tightly like it's a life line that he cannot afford to loose.

“It looks like our time is almost up. You ready to go soon Karma?” Mod looks down at Karma to check on them.

Karma nods, sitting up. Mod can tell that they are thinking about everything that happened. He'll probably hear about it that night. And the next few nights.

“Well. It was nice meeting you Matt. I look forward to seeing you during orientation.” Mod helps put away Karmas AAC.

"Thank you. " He stands up grabbing his stuff as well. "I'll see you around." He gives a little wave to Karma before leaving. Only after he's gone do they wave back.

Karma had a brother. The idea was still odd; they'd never mentioned them. Matthew Tribech. He was about five years older than Karma and had spent the last few years in jail for assisting in the attempted murder of a minor.

Surprisingly enough, Karma had agreed to meet him. The requirement was that it was in a public space and Karma's family came with. They were clearly a little nervous.

Thankfully, Matthew recognized the group, as he looked nothing like his brother. He was of a fairly average height with dark curly hair and fairly pale skin with bronze undertones. He offers a hesitant smile, standing to meet them.

"Hi! Oh, Karms, you've gotten so tall-"

Karma shrinks behind the closest person who can see the pain flash through Matthew's eyes, though he doesn't say anything.

The Cockatrice flinches before dipping her head down, clearly bracing for a fight. They bare their fangs, silently giving him a glare.

She covers her sibling with her wings, blinking.

“Sorry first.”

It says matter of factly, having no idea what for. It’d seen Karma’s reaction, that’s all she needed.

"I'm sorry?"

He pulls back. He could recognize the universal preparing for a fight stance. Besides, he hadn't meant to scare Karma.

Karma peers around Trice, staring wide-eyed at Matthew. They pat Trice as if to tell her it's okay.

It remains on edge until Karma giving her that reassurance. Trice blinks, relaxing slightly.

She turns to Karma with a worried expression, chirping. It didn’t exactly understand, but it couldn’t let Karma be scared.

“Big brother not bad?”

She asks quietly, attempting to keep it to a whisper.

"I don't remember," they sign, glancing between it and Matthew.

Matthew stands awkwardly, not sure if he should speak.

"Me? I just wanted to see Karma... It's fine.. if he doesn't want to talk.. I can go." Matthew takes a small step back with an unsure smile.

They lift a wing to look at Karma.

They shrug and sign, "we should get drinks first. Soda."

Matt looks between them, then very slowly asks Trice. "They? Am I... Am I misgendering my brother?"

“Yes. Terms are get soda, before talk.”

She states this matter of factly, nodding.

“Soda good. Can get it taste fruit.”

Matt nods slowly. "That's true and I accept those terms. I'll pay."

Karma nods along with Trice, still holding their hand tightly.

It starts walking off, gripping Karma’s hand in return as it motions for Matt to follow suit.

They’d find a good place to drink soda and talk.

Matt follows and buys them soda, then they sit down. Karma fidgits and then briefly leaves them to grab their AAC. They set it down between them, but can't seem to think of anything to say.

Matt clears his throat. "So...uh... are you two...siblings now?"

It nods, pointing to Karma then itself.

“Big sister.”

It says with a confident puff of its feathers, despite the clear age difference between the two.

Trice nudges their arm with her forehead affectionately, as if to show they were family.

Karma nods happily. It was easier for them to be the little sibling anyway. They tap "Love" on the AAC.

Matt smiles. "I'm glad."

Trice looks over at Matt, tilting their head.

“Also Karma sibling? Confused.”

It asks, genuinely looking for answers in its question. It wanted to know why Karma felt this was important..

"I was," Matt replies slowly. "But I wasn't very good at it and I had to leave for awhile."

Karma nods. That seems as good an explanation as any.

It hums thoughtfully.

“Train to be good at it?”

The Cockatrice asks, somewhere between a question and a suggestion.

"I don't know how..." he frowns thoughtfully.

It had been a little while since Hemlock had saved a version of Avis that still had his little brother. And truthfully, he worried about them. Seeing them in The Hotel had just cemented the idea in that he had to go visit. So after a little bit of searching and a trip to go annoy Mod into telling him where the kids are, he finds himself slowly sneaking up on Avis in fox form, and nuzzling against his legs.

Initially, Avis does not notice, just mumbling, "not now Tigger." Clearly assuming it was just his cat bothering him. He was hunched over a desk completely focused on a stack of homework that he'd left until the last minute.

Adri was curled up on the couch, watching a tv show. His wheelchair pushed nearby and a weighted doll in his lap.

He frowns. Disagreeing doesn't seem to be getting him anywhere. Slowly he says "Does it matter if you are? Everyone burdens others sometimes. I know I burden my family a lot with how reckless I can be. Should they stop caring about me because of it? Just give up on me?"

"I... Don't know. Do they have to take care of you all the time? Are you incapable of doing anything by yourself? I don't think it's the same." He picks up his head. "Let's lay on the grass. Then I can stop thinking sad thoughts and look at birds."

He frowns, not having a good argument for that. "...alright. Bird time." He stands up, picking Adri up and heading down the stairs, outside. "Do you have a specific spot you like?"

"Under the trees, please." Adri swings an arm around him, an over dramatized movement that insured he wouldn't hit the person carrying him in the face. "I am ghost. No, not right. I am a vampire. I burn in the sunlight."

"Oh yeah? Should I be worried carrying you this close to my neck?" He teases. He carries them over, setting them in the shade and laying down beside them. "I think my mom might be dating a vampire... if I remember correctly."

"That's funny." He laughs, closing his eyes and just enjoying the sounds of nature and the distant hum of a highway hidden by the trees. "Tell me more about your world. The other Avis."

"Hm. We'll, I've met a lot of versions of him, but the first one, my favorite, goes by Destiny. He's older then your brother, in his 20s, just a little younger then me. He's... he's incredibly kind, and caring, and headstrong. He's in college , learning about psychology, and he has a job as a caregiver, helping do things for people they cant do themselves." He smiles at Adri at that part. "He's adopted a teen named Karma whos very sweet, even though they can be very shy. Hm- what else..."

Adri giggles again, opening his eyes and staring up at the leaves, then turning to look at Hemlock. "He got a get out of caregiving free card and threw it away? That's just like him."

"He likes taking care of others." He shrugs. "I do worry about him burning himself out sometimes... but were working on it. I swear though, sometimes I consider just tying him up to force him to stop working and relax."

"You gotta do that to Avis too. He cries if people make him take a break." Hemlock had seen that a thousand times before. (He was probably guilty of it himself.) Someone who had to keep moving so their emotions didn't catch up with them. "Do you think if he took more breaks he'd like me more?"

"He likes you plenty. But yeah, taking breaks would definitely improve his overall mood. I do consider Avis overworking himself to be an emergency, you can press the emergency button for that if you think its needed. ...I did give you guys one of those, right? I cant keep track..."

"I don't know. He's always overworking himself. He hit his head again. You saw that. That's what he does when he's stressed. The doctor says he should stop but he doesn't. He has too much homework."

He sighs. "Yeah, I saw. I wish I could lessen that workload... the most I can really do is help you out and let him know we're supporting him when he needs it. I'd suggest he get some tutoring but I dont know if he has the time..."

Adri closes his eyes again. After a bit, he suggests, "you could come by on Tuesdays and then he could have tutoring and we could hang out."

He smiles. "That sounds like a fantastic idea. I will be here every Tuesday to the point you will get sick of me."

"Really?!" Adri opens his eyes, pushing himself up on his elbows. "You mean it?"

"Of course. Did you think I was joking about wanting to help? If coming over on Tuesdays helps you both then I come over on Tuesdays."

"That's nice. Do you like therapy?" He lets himself fall back down on his back. "I have water therapy on Tuesdays. Avis doesn't like water therapy because he says he gets hot and wet in the bleachers."

"I only tried therapy once, and it was less therapy and more just have a chat with a doctor, but it helped. I also like water, so I dont think that sounds that bad."

"Avis is supposed to do the talking kind of therapy but he won't go, so they stopped paying for it. I do lots of therapies. Like horses. And one where they try to help me walk. I don't like that one 'cause it makes me hurt."

He sighs. "He really should go to therapy... it would be good for him." He whinces sympathetically. "Yikes, yeah, walking therapy sounds not fun. But horse therapy sounds really awesome."

"Yeah, that's what all the 'dults say. 'Cause he has ptsd and disorders." He carefully rolls on his side to face Hemlock. "I like horse therapy lots and lots."

"Are you both on any medications at least?" He tilts his head, very concerned about Avis refusing to do things that are good for them.

"Not anymore. You'll never guess why." He giggles.

"Because he doesn't take them." He laughs. "I take my meds. Avis makes me. They don't taste very good.."

"We're getting him back on meds. He needs them. And they're not supposed to taste good, but if it bothers you you can always mix them with things to make it more bearable."

"It's okay because Avis makes it fun and he lets me drink soda when I take my meds." He nods happily. "How are you going to make him take meds? Will he get soda too?"

"Thats good. He might... I'll have to talk it over with him and we'll find something that motivates him."

"Okay." He goes back to staring up at the leaves. "I think something bit my arm. It itches."

"Oh no, thats the worst. Do you want to head back in, then? We can probably find some creme to put on the bite so it wont itch as much."

"Yes, please." Very carefully, he pushes himself to a semi-seated position and holds out a hand. "Can you carry me again?"

"Absolutely." He gets up, brushing off and then picking Adri up bridal style. "Hope I didnt bore you with my lack of bird facts." He smiles, heading inside.

"You did," he replies, giggling. "Hm...my head hurts again...fudge. it hasn't been long enough for me to take more painkiller. It's because of the sun probably. Or because I moved. Your tails are very soft."

"Hm. Have you had anything to drink lately? Maybe water would help. Or sometimes I put a wet rag on my forehead when I get headaches." He smiles at the comment, tails wrapping around them more. "Thank you, I take good care of them."

Hearing them talking, Avis pushes away from his desk and comes into the hall. Judging from his red and bruised forehead, he has banged it a couple more times. "Hello Uncle Voss. Thanks for hanging out with Adri."

He conjures a water with a bendy straw and a wet rag for Adri then smiles when Avis walks over. "It was fun. Was thinking I might want to hang out more often..."

"That's a cool idea. Maybe you can come over during the summer?" He leans against the wall, staring blankly at the conjured rag. "Is Adri okay?"

"Just a headache." He nods. "Summer could be fun... but I was thinking more like... every Tuesday? Something weekly could be good for you. Give you time to get tutoring and help with your schoolwork, perhaps?"

"Really?" Avis blinks slowly, half zoned out and just barely aware of what Hemlock is saying. "That's cool. I need a nap. Do you want to nap, Adri?"

Adri looks between them, struggling to choose.

"I set my alarm. I'll be up in half an hour." Teen who needs far more than half an hour of sleep but also still has homework. "Or you said..uh...what was the day?"

"Tuesdays. Get rest, we will talk about it later. Adri, where is your room?"

"I just sleep with Avis." Points back down the hall.

He nods, carrying them after Avis. "Alright." As soon as he has Adri settled, he shifts into fox form, curling up at the foot of the bed.

Avis snuggles up next to Adri and the two of them are swiftly asleep. As promised, Avis wakes up to an alarm on his phone half an hour later. Groggly, he moves to crawl around Adri and knees Hemlock.

He makes a small quiet noise before just hopping off the bed and out of the way. He sits down, watching Avis.

Avis sits on the edge of the bed for a bit, blinking the sleep out of his eyes. Staring at the fox, he remembers who that is and gets down next to him. "Uncle Voss?"

He nods, nuzzling against Avis. Then he shifts, sitting cross legged beside them. "You sleep okay?" Voice quiet.

"Mhm." He all but crawls into Hemlock's lap. "Can you hold me like you did when I was younger? Please?"

"Of course." He hugs them close, holding them tightly. "You gotta not overwork yourself kid..."

"I just have to finish highschool," he mumbles, snuggling against Hemlock, making himself as small as possible. "Then I can slow down."

"You're gonna burn out doing that... we need to get you a tutor to help with the school work load. And Adri told me you stopped taking your meds... why?"

"Because they didn't work." The moment the lie slips out, he wishes he hadn't said it and shoves his face against Hemlock's chest. "I kept dreaming about the men and thinking I saw things. So I stopped. They said it would go away, but it didn't."

"Oh kit..." He rubs circles into their back. "Meds and therapy can only do so much... but they do help. And if they arent helping then maybe we try a different kind. These things just take time. I'm sorry you had to go through all that."

"I'm tired of trying diffent kinds." They sniff. "I'm tired of fighting and fighting and fighting. It isn't fair. I just want to live."

"I know... its not fair at all. I'm so so sorry. But I'm here now, and I'm going to help in any way I can. I promise."

"You're going to visit more often, right? When you visit on whatever day you said you would, will you stay in the evening too?"

"If you want me, then absolutely. Every Tuesday I will be here." He grabs a keychain from his shadow, pressing it into Avis hand. "And if I'm not then you just press that button."

Avis stares at the keychain for awhile. "Tuesdays. Okay. I can manage until Tuesday....but I'm not taking those meds."

"You need to take some meds. What will make it worth it? Soda? Ice cream? Cookies?"

"No! I won't take them." Hemlock has watched Destiny bargening with Karma enough to recognize the shift in vocal range and slightly defensive pull back that, at least in Karma, was usually followed by a complete fit which could not be reasoned with. It usually took Karma longer to get there, but they'd been through more therapy and were in a more stable enverment.

He sighs. "Alright. I won't force you. But we will be coming back to this topic again later, young man." He gives his best Dad glare.

He squirms and mumbles about not wanting to, then lays his head back down against Hemlock with a sigh. "I don't want to do homework anymore."

He lightly pets their hair. "Alright, we'll do something else for a little bit then. Are there any other chores you have to do today?"

"I think it's my turn to do dishes.. and then I need to wake Adri up because he hasn't eaten or gotten ready for bed, so he can't keep sleeping."

"Alright, how about you find some food for you two and I'll start on dishes. Then we can try again on homework. Eating helps your brain."

"Okay." He remains curled in Hemlock's lap, making no move to get up.

Destiny is just going about his day, walking around, when he suddenly gets grabbed and dragged through the nearest door. When he realizes what has happened he finds himself in a room he vaguely remembers being in once before, Hemlocks bedroom. The kitsune holding him is shaking, burying his face in Destinys shoulder and wrapping his tails around them. "S-sorry..."

Destiny yelps, startled and momentarly afraid. The moment he realizes who it is, he relaxes some what, wrapping his arms tightly around Hemlock and nuzzling him. "Hey- Hey, babydoll...what happened? Are you alright?"

He shakes his head, whimpering softly and hugging Destiny. "S-sorry- w-was gonna b-bother m-mom but shes n-not home a-and I dont-" He cuts himself off with another whine, burying his face further into his partner.

"It's alright. You're okay." Destiny pets him, running quickly through all of his training. "Can you breath with me?"

He does a small nod, trying his best to copy Destiny.

"Good job!" Destiny pulls back just slightly to look him over and check that he is physically unharmed. "Okay. Let's try again. Tell me what happened. You don't have to go into details."

The response Destiny gets is not English, its not even verbal, the air switches between scents that Destiny has no way of translating, other then understanding the negative connotations of most of them. Hemlock drags his partner onto the bed, curling up against them in a childish manner. His tails curl around and he hugs them to his chest tightly, a nervous habit of his thats Destinys probably picked up on, but for once it looks less like a subconscious search for comfort, and more like he's being protective over the furry appendages.

All of the separate actions and scents on their own would have been meaningless to Destiny, but combined they put together an idea that he didn't like at all. Something had scared Hemlock, specifically something related to being a Kitsune. He knew Hemlock's past well enough to know how scary that could be for him.

He gives Hemlock more pets as he thinks this over. "Okay. That sounds really scary." He would have responded the same if Hemlock had been throwing French at him. "You're safe right now. No one is going to hurt you here. I promise."

Mod is holding Karmas hand. He gives their hand a soft squeeze to let them know he’s got them.

“Hey there, Matthew right? My name is Mod. Im Karmas guardian.”

"Uh...yeah.. I don't really go by the whole thing. Just Matt." He offers a hand. "It's nice to meet you Mr. Mod. I really 'priciate y'all doing this."

“Of course. You two can talk all you like. I’ll just be here to make sure nothing happens. Not that I think something will.” He shakes his hand.

Matt nods, turning to Karma. It takes awhile for the two to figure out how to talk. Matt doesn't know sign language and Karma is not comfortable enough to try to talk. Karma does remember that Mod has a notepad in his bag and when they go to search in it, they are very happy to find that their dad guardian has packed their AAC.

Mod pulls out the AAC and sets it up for them. He goes back to answering emails.

Karma sits next to Mod, across the table from Matt. The two talk for a little while before just sitting in comfortable silence. They are understandably, not very close.

Mod takes notice of this. “So Matt. What have you been up to these days.”

"Me?" He fidgits with his drink. "Trying to get a job so I can rent an apartment of some kind."

“Ah. That’s good. If you need a little assistance my company offers financial aid.”

"Really? Even with my uh...criminal record?" He lowers his voice at the last part, his cheeks darkening.

“Well. I generally believe in second chances. As long as someone genuinely wants to change and improve. If you don’t mind me asking. What were you charged with.”

"A bunch of things that all boils down to being partially to blame for... that is they..." He trails off.

Karma steps in, signing, "same thing Dad was charged with except helping and because he lied to the cops."

The kitsune holding him is shaking, burying his face in Destinys shoulder and wrapping his tails around them. "S-sorry..."

Destiny yelps, startled and momentarly afraid. The moment he realizes who it is, he relaxes some what, wrapping his arms tightly around Hemlock and nuzzling him. "Hey- Hey, babydoll...what happened? Are you alright?"

He shakes his head, whimpering softly and hugging Destiny. "S-sorry- w-was gonna b-bother m-mom but shes n-not home a-and I dont-" He cuts himself off with another whine, burying his face further into his partner.

"It's alright. You're okay." Destiny pets him, running quickly through all of his training. "Can you breath with me?"

He does a small nod, trying his best to copy Destiny.

"Good job!" Destiny pulls back just slightly to look him over and check that he is physically unharmed. "Okay. Let's try again. Tell me what happened. You don't have to go into details."

The response Destiny gets is not English, its not even verbal, the air switches between scents that Destiny has no way of translating, other then understanding the negative connotations of most of them. Hemlock drags his partner onto the bed, curling up against them in a childish manner. His tails curl around and he hugs them to his chest tightly, a nervous habit of his thats Destinys probably picked up on, but for once it looks less like a subconscious search for comfort, and more like he's being protective over the furry appendages.

All of the separate actions and scents on their own would have been meaningless to Destiny, but combined they put together an idea that he didn't like at all. Something had scared Hemlock, specifically something related to being a Kitsune. He knew Hemlock's past well enough to know how scary that could be for him.

He gives Hemlock more pets as he thinks this over. "Okay. That sounds really scary." He would have responded the same if Hemlock had been throwing French at him. "You're safe right now. No one is going to hurt you here. I promise."
