Sea Magic And Sea Witches Away From The Sea
this may be a bit long. disclaimer!! this is what I do and what I think is okay to work with. I don’t speak to the other witches in the community! I try to make my craft as laid-back, easy to do, and accessible as possible. (since I am a closet witch!)
As a sea witch who lives nowhere near salt water, it has its difficulties. However, I’m here to say to all those who have interests in sea magic but don’t live near the ocean it’s okay to try it and do whatever you want.
You don’t need to be right near the salt water to be a sea witch. To those who think against this then,,, well have a good day because it wouldn’t affect you anyway so,,, why not let people have their lives huh?
Anyway, there are some simple ways to practice it with not much effort and a lot of effects. Here are some of the following things I think can help incorporate the sea into your magic:
Making your own salt water
Making your own salt water is just as effective as using real sea water! Although it isn’t a perfect solution it is something to use during the time you are unavailable to actual sea water. You can infuse different oils, herbs and salts to your salt water to make it potent. I have a recipe of my own that I will list below! You’re welcome to take my example as a template.
water (moon water/sun water if you wish), 2 pinches of crushed herbal salt (usually celery leaf—because it is associated with Poseidon), sigils of your choice! (I recommend anything that adds a charge, or connects with your deity(ies)), a bowl (I use a steel bowl), a bottle to hold your sea magic enriched water, and your intentions with the water
- call out to any deities you associate your sea witchy ways with! light some incense for them and lay down some crystals if you’re not into the whole gods thing-
1. Put your water into your bowl, and prepare the other ingredients before hand.
2. Slowly add in the salt and herb mix. stir clockwise!
3. Use a small water proof baggie you could put your sigils into, or honestly just put them wherever it will be near the water.
4. Focus on the bowl and state your intent, vocal or just thinking at the bowl is fine. As long as you’re clear with your intentions.
5. Allow the water to rest on your altar or just in the moonlight with your incense or crystals (or both if you’re feeling like it) and wait till morning to take down.
6. Once you’ve taken the sigils off, pour into a bottle for safe keeping!
The water should last for a month or two before you would have to charge again!
