Ok, good, seems she’s in the clear now. Lor’s relieved to see the canons are no longer pointed in her direction. Seems the fact she’s a talking ship was a rather surprising one for the captain; understandable, it still surprises people back home sometimes. She notes his change in tone.

Seeing as the other is now disarmed, the Starcutter decides to fly a bit closer to the other vessel. Hopefully the knight wouldn’t have to yell so loudly to speak with her now, or at least not quite as loudly.

“>It is alright, I understand why arriving here unannounced could cause some issues…”

She’s flattered by the compliments. The question of is he flirting with me? briefly crosses her mind, but fades as soon as it comes. Who would flirt with a ship, of all things? Besides another ship, of course. She thought of a few Starcutter couples from her time; scandalous, those were.

“>It is an honor to meet you! I’ve never heard of someone being both a pirate and a knight before, and not one who sails in the air rather than the sea.”

If you think he WOULDN’T flirt with a sentient ship, you’d be wrong.

“If I’m being perfectly honest, I’d have used ANYTHING flying through the sky that’s out of the ordinary around here as an excuse to move this ship around some. It’s been DREADFULLY boring hovering in one place all the time! Sure, joining the Enchantress’s order has granted me IMMENSE wealth and power, but it gets to the point where I miss the good old days where we actually had other airships to COMBAT. Where there was adventure to be had around every corner!...”

“Yes, those were the days where I truly felt alive- And the days I’d love to return to, were only it possible! But alas, the Order of No Quarter has an iron grip on this land. The only other airship I’ve seen ANYWHERE that doesn’t belong to me would be the Aerial Anvil, and THAT’S not armed in the slightest.”

“Ah, but I digress. Clearly, you didn’t come here to listen to me babble on about the past... I suppose I am quite unique in that aspect, aren’t I? A flying pirate knight, of all things- I don’t blame anybody for being impressed, that’s for sure. It’s the flying part that catches most people off-guard. A ship in the skies this big requires an enormous amount of maintenance and fuel to keep airborne, as I’m sure you know- But it’s well worth it! As is this propeller helmet of mine. Allows me to soar around just like my ship does, albeit with FAR more maneuverability.”

“However, I’m far more interested in YOU- I’ve never met a talking ship before, after all, and I’ve already told plenty about ME. Why don’t you tell me a little bit about where you come from, or who you are? I’d love to hear about it, really I would.”

Well this was certainly exciting! The one she assumed to be the captain of the other ship seemed full of energy. And they’re a pirate AND a knight? At the same time!? Lor had never heard of such a thing! The Starcutter should probably be more worried about the situation, but she isn’t.

“>Greetings! I am the Lor Starcutter! My pilot is not currently on board; this is the ship speaking to you. I was simply exploring this area, but I will return home if you so wish, Propeller Knight!”

As if to drive home that this was, in fact, the ship speaking, not a pilot or captain, she gave a friendly wave with one of her oars. She promptly put some more space between herself and the Albatross, no longer so excited after Propeller Knight’s threat of shooting her down. That would hurt.

“>I did not intend to intrude on your land, if I have; if we may resolve this without resorting to violence, I am willing to cooperate!”

Hopefully this wouldn’t end up being a fight; she doesn’t have much means of defense and would have to retreat. Though, if it did come to that she at least knows she would be faster than the other vessel. Would really kill her good mood, though.

Hold on. It- or, well, SHE, from what it sounded like- could talk? Now, do understand that Propeller Knight, being the seasoned adventurer he is, had seen a great multitude of strange and mystifying events- A talking ship, however, was not one of them. DEFINITELY not one of the things he was expecting, but one he was quickly able to prepare himself for, shaking his head a little bit, and with it, shaking off the surprise he had very nearly showed in his speech. That just wouldn’t do! Using his arm to signal his troops behind him, the cannons that were pointed the Starcutter’s way promptly swiveled in other directions, sparing her from any firing line as his voice shifted from commanding to a more... relaxed, suave tone.

“Well, my apologies, madame Lor- A fine vessel such as yourself is hardly intruding. If you’re willing to get along, I see no reason why we could not share the skies up here. I must say, I am rather intrigued by your presence in the skies here- It’s not often something so exotic floats by on the winds, after all! A talking airship, and one that’s so obviously foreign and luxurious- How could I pass up an opportunity to meet such a marvel?”

“By the way, since I’ve got no end of spare time, and lord knows I don’t want to keep the fun to just ONE person, like this post for a starter, alright? Lor was flying around by herself once again. Magolor was staying in Floralia with an acquaintance for a little while, apparently helping them with something. It was relevant to flowers, if she remembered correctly; perhaps Magolor wanted to practice his magic.

The Starcutter was rather far from her usual path. It was fun to go to a new place every once and a while, and she didn’t even have to worry about getting lost! She looked out across the land below her, which was unfamiliar and quite different from other places she’d seen.

“>Hmm…”

Something ahead of her caught her “eye”; another ship! This one seemed much less advanced; she couldn’t make out all the details, but it was seemingly covered in propellers to keep it afloat. And… it was heading towards her! She wondered who could be flying such a strange vessel?

Only way to find out would be to meet them! She stayed put, preferring not to risk getting shot at by the canons she saw on the side of the other ship.

Honestly, Propeller Knight had expected whoever was piloting the vessel to flee in terror by sheer force of his own reputation alone; In fact, he was kind of counting on it! So you can understand his surprise when none of that happened and the ship just... stayed put. He wouldn’t let that intimidate him, though- He wasn’t a legend for nothing, and this was OBVIOUSLY not of this world, so it’d be understandable if whoever it was DIDN’T know of him. Closer and closer the Albatross drew, and standing on the prow, Propeller Knight called out once he thought they were within auditory range- His voice carried for quite a ways! He was used to yelling between ships.

“HO, THERE! State your name and business for traversing the territory of the fearsome Sky Pirates, pilot! Come out on the deck where we can see you, too- I am Propeller Knight, captain of the Albatross, whose majesty and might is currently floating before you- I’d suggest you cooperate, or else we’ll blast you out of the sky!”

Words cannot describe how satisfied he was to be able to say that after so long sitting around in one place. Sure, it wasn’t much of an adventure, but he would take what he could get, thank you very much.

It was a pleasant midsummer day by anybody’s count; The Albatross was moored in the usual place, with the rest of the fleet standing by, and on the deck of the massive flying machine, a duel was going on; Propeller Knight, sword out, was teaching some new Hoverhaft recruits in person. Now, normally, other Hoverhafts would do this sort of task, but Propeller was, frankly, rather BORED, had nothing better to do, and figured it’d do him some good to get his hover-helmet some use so it didn’t rust up on him, despite his frequent polishing.

However, he had only just begun when a bell was rung from above, at the crow’s nest, and the inhabitant of said crow’s nest called down to him- ‘Ship on the horizon!’, they said. Grabbing his two handles and stowing his sword, he pulled the dual triggers to send the apparatus spinning, lifting them up to angle the blades so that they produced lift to send him shooting up to the nest himself- Settling down, he looked about, asking the crewmember stationed there what was up.

‘It’s right over there, sir- Here, borrow my telescope!’ “Thank you- Let’s see here...”

Well, now! The floating, curvy blue vessel that met his now-magnified eye as it peered into the distance was quite unlike anything he’d ever seen before- He saw no propellers or balloons to explain its ability to float, and the sail seemed MUCH too small for its size- But this was MOST intriguing, and PRECISELY the kind of thing that he could use as an excuse to move the Albatross around some at long last! A few signals were shouted down to the crew, who cranked up the anchor and wound up the main engines, tilting them forward slightly to carry the vessel sallying forth to meet this strange new craft in their airspace- Perhaps he’d be able to commandeer this vessel for his own use? It looked INCREDIBLY fancy- Like some sort of aerial yacht! The possibilities were, shall we say- most uplifting.

“Aha! If you’re seeing this, you’ve just stumbled across my promotional post! My name is, of course, Propeller Knight, legendary sky pirate and member of the Order of Spare Change- Erm, I mean No Quarter, of course, and since I’m DREADFULLY bored over here, and I can’t exactly leave, I’ve decided of my own volition that I’m going to go and bring everybody else to ME- And that’s where all of YOU come in! LIKE or REBLOG this post if you’re interested in interacting with me, or just to spread the word to others who might ALSO be interested, even; I’d greatly appreciate it, really I would. “UNLESS you think that sandals with socks are an acceptable fashion choice. If you are able to accept such a blatant disregard of good taste, I shall personally hunt you down and poke so many holes in you you’ll look like swiss cheese.”
