When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.
No promises but now that I’m done with my undergrad career I *MAY* start using tumblr again for some stimulation. Since tapering off my presence, I’ve moved to Rochester with my fantastic girlfriend and we adopted a kitty. I’m super amped to be done with institutionalized education for a while and very happy with how I wrapped up that experience. A highlight of the denouement was writing a term paper for environmental sociology on the need for new perspectives in Green Building which my professor said “has the kernel of what could be a publication in a professional journal.” I’m looking for work (preferably in the educational non-profit world) and yearning to feed my brain with all kinds of new experiences and undertakings. It’s so good to feel so free. Can’t wait to see what I do with this liberation in 2016. Stay tuned.
today when my professor (who surely never missed a beat in her education) made a comment to me about grad school and how fitting I would be for a career in academia I actually cited “not wanting to take myself too seriously too fast” as my excuse to put off any such pursuits. #stillgotit

No, no, no, no, no

I’ve gotta have you, I’ve gotta have you
It's so hard to leave my love in the morning to go to work but it's nice when songs come in shuffle that remind me of that amazing lady <3 thanks for a great week, flowsweetlywoodnote
To win on of our 100 favourite non-fiction books (you get to choose which one) just reblog this post. Not on Tumblr? Tweet a link tagged #tetw. We’ll pick a random winner. No cash alternative. Judge’s decision is final. Bla bla bla.
taking study breaks to make travel plans with my best friend and loving partner is so nice. but not nearly as nice as a week of doing good things in new places with my favorite person, flowsweetlywoodnote, is about to be. :)
Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.

When I am alone
When I’ve thrown off the weight of this crazy stone
When I’ve lost all care for the things I own
That’s when I miss you
Had an amazing weekend with flowsweetlywoodnote, full of sun sets and rises, full moons, herping by headlamp, darling duckies, a whole lot of love and so much more. This song captured it all somehow on the ride home. I could not be more grateful for all that she brings me. :)
