I might as well throw away my 'Past Lives' fic if I choose character death over reincarnation.
Summary: You and Vada are currently at the flirting stage where things aren't defined, but there are definitely feelings. One night, Vada calls you and the relationship escalates.
a/n: this is by far my most intimate fic I wrote, probably the furthest I'll go tbh.
Word Count: 6288
Your soft snores fill your bedroom as your phone rings. You squirm in your bed, squinting at the bright screen on your phone to find Vada calling. You hesitantly answer the call, annoyed.
“Hi.” Vada smiles, laying in her bed.
You continue squinting at the screen. “Why’d you call me? It’s so late.” You groan, turning off your camera.
“I wanted to talk.” She huffs. “Turn your camera back on.”
You groan once again. “Ugh, fine.”
Vada softly chuckles while seeing your grumpy expression. She can tell you’re still sleepy and not in the mood to talk, but she still wanted to see you nonetheless. She laid on her side, holding her phone with both hands as she smiled warmly at you.
“What's up.” You say, your voice rough from just waking up.
“Nothing… I just missed you.” Vada mutters, looking you up and down on the screen.
You’re too tired to register her affection. “I was in the middle of this dream. We were at my house and, wait-” Your face flushes red, cutting off your own words.
“I shouldn’t say that.” You mutter, sheepishly.
Vada smirked, taking notice of the slight tint of color on your face. “Oooh, go on.” She teased, holding the phone closer to her face.
“What were we doing?” Vada giggled lightly, enjoying your flushed, tired expression.
You hid your face with your hands, the phone falling onto the mattress showing Vada your ceiling fan. “I shouldn’t have said that.”
Vada can’t help but laugh while hearing you, watching you hide your face from embarrassment. She rolled onto her back and held her phone above her head. “Come on, tell me.”
Vada continued to jokingly nag at you, giggling. “I won’t laugh, I promise.”
“You promise? If you laugh I’m going back to bed.” You say, bluntly.
Vada sighed, rolling her eyes playfully. “Yes, I promise.
She assured you, trying her best to hide her smile. “Now, you gotta tell me what you were dreaming about.” Vada added, tilting her head to the side and waiting in anticipation.
You grab your phone again, the blush on your face deepening. “We might’ve been… kissing?”
Vada’s mouth parted a bit slightly at your comment, a small flutter of excitement rushing through her.
She tried containing herself, hiding the fact that she was also getting red in the face.
“Oh? Is that so?” Vada replied softly.
The blush on your face somehow deepens as you drive your face into your pillow. “That was so embarrassing, this was a trap wasn’t it? Get me while I’m sleepy to say something stupid.”
Vada let a light, soft laugh out. “Maybe.”
She smirked, amused by how easily flustered you were getting over the little story you revealed. Vada let her head rest on her pillow, looking up at the ceiling.
“Although, I wonder why you were dreaming about that.” She continued, wanting to tease you and see how far she could go.
You reveal your face, your cheek resting on your pillow. “I don’t know, tell me a dream you were in control of.” I say, defensively.
Vada smirked at your question, thinking back into her memories for a bit. She stayed silent before eventually looking back at the screen.
“I don’t know if I should say.” She muttered, enjoying your defensive, flustered expression.
You adjust your seating, a glimmer of excitement in your eyes, “Oh? It’s only fair after what I just revealed.”
Vada chuckled lightly before letting out a small huff. “Okay, okay.” She muttered, before looking up at the ceiling while recalling the dream she had a while ago. “Well, in my dream, we weren’t just kissing.”
Your moment of confidence slips, your face finding that now familiar red hue.
“I uh-” You find myself coughing from embarrassment. “What were we doing then?”
Vada smirked when seeing you stumble over your words, satisfied with how flustered you were getting. She let out a small giggle, holding the phone closer again.
“You sure you want to know? You’re already a mess as it is.” Vada teased, knowing that you were getting even more red.
“You know what? I didn’t wanna know anyways.” You said, childishly.
Another chuckle escaped Vada’s lips, enjoying your stubborn behavior.
“Oh no no, you can’t back out like that.” She said, playfully. Moving slightly onto her side. “You asked, now deal with it.” Vada added, taking pleasure in watching you squirm.
You found yourself at a loss for words, not knowing how to respond as your heart rate accelerates.
A smirk continued to be present on Vada’s face as she watched your flustered expression grow. “Aww, you’re getting even redder now.” She teased, moving her free hand to the camera.
“Are you speechless now? Hmm?” Vada added, wanting to get you even more riled up.
“I uh-” You look away from your phone as if that’ll hide your embarrassment. “How am I supposed to respond to that?”
Another small laugh left Vada’s mouth, clearly enjoying your flustered state. She shook her head lightly, before a smirk appeared on her face once more.
“Y’know I’m just teasing you.” She assured, before looking at you over the phone.
“You’re cute like this.” Vada said, bluntly.
“I’m what!” Your phone falls back onto the mattress, shocked.
Vada let out an amused laugh, hearing your phone fall against the bed. She couldn’t help but grin, knowing that you were growing more and more flustered by the second.
“You heard me.” Vada said, turning onto her back now. “I said you’re cute like this.”
You grab your phone once again, the camera revealing your flustered face. You look to the side, avoiding eye contact. “Well, I think you're cute in general. So…”
Vada’s smirk grew into a soft smile, hearing your flustered words. She felt a small flutter in her chest, taken off guard. Vada wasn’t expecting that, but she couldn’t help but feel a bit pleased.
“Oh yeah? You think so?” She muttered, tilting her head slightly. Her own face growing a bit red.
You nod, a genuine smile creeping up onto your face. “You’re really pretty.”
Vada’s cheeks grew red as you complimented her, a flutter of butterflies rushing through her body. With a small laugh, she shook her head.
“Oh yeah? Pretty is the only thing you can think of for me?” Vada teased, trying to distract herself from all the feelings rushing within.
“That took all my confidence and that’s your response?” You say, teasingly. “I’m going back to bed.”
Vada suddenly felt panicked when seeing you end the call, and she immediately went to call you back.
“Don’t just leave like that.” Vada muttered, a small hint of desperation in her voice.
You find a smile creeping up onto your face. “I’m sorry, I couldn’t resist.”
It’s silent for a moment, your brain thinking about what Vada said earlier.
“I think you’re far more than just pretty, you’re beautiful. But yet, it’s your soul and personality that draw people to you first.”
Vada’s cheeks were now beet red, and her heart raced with every word you spoke. She stayed silent for a few seconds, not expecting such sweet words to suddenly come out of your mouth.
“You’re really that much of a sap?” She muttered, but she was clearly enjoying your words.
Your face flushes red after realizing your sudden intimate words. “I uh- forget I said that!”
Vada let out an amused laugh at your panicked expression, feeling her own fluttering heart slow down. She grinned, before replying with a teasing tone.
“You can’t just say all that then take it back.” She muttered, shaking her head while trying to control the redness on her cheeks.
You look at the ceiling in an attempt to hide your face before groaning. You turn back to your phone, admiring Vada’s face for a moment. “I- I did mean it.”
Vada smiled softly, seeing your flustered state once more. She loved teasing you, and adored the fact that you got this way so easily. However, hearing your last words made her heart skip a beat.
Vada tried to compose herself before replying. “You mean it, huh?” She muttered, biting her lower lip gently.
You nod, face still flushed red. “That is how I feel. You have a beautiful soul Vada, a soul full of empathy and passion.”
A small, warm feeling stirred within Vada as she continued to listen to your words of praise. She found it hard to look at you through the screen, her cheeks growing redder.
“You’re too much, you know what? You’re gonna kill me if you keep this up.” Vada muttered, attempting to compose herself through the redness on her face.
You found yourself looking away, building up some sort of confidence. “You can try to kill me then if you want. With words, not literally.” You say, smiling as you clarify.
Vada let out a light, amused chuckle at your words. She raised a brow, noticing the sudden boldness.
“Oh yeah? You’re feeling bold all of a sudden?” Vada teased, enjoying hearing the confidence in your voice. “And what would you have me say then?”
The familiar blush found your face again. “I don’t know, I just poured my heart out a little bit, maybe you can say how you see me. What you like about me.”
You find your blush deepen at your last words, “Not like-like! I mean- Ugh, nevermind you know what I mean.”
Vada couldn’t help but grin at your flustered expression. It was way too easy to get you all tangled up in a red mess. She rolled her eyes, biting down on her lower lip to hold back another laugh.
“Yeah, yeah I know what you mean, silly.” Vada said softly, her teasing tone slowly fading.
After a moment of silence, Vada felt a flutter of nervousness in her own heart.
“I-” She began, searching for the right words to say. “I don’t know how to put it into words.”
“Take your time, it's okay. Finding the right words can be difficult.” You say in an attempt to comfort Vada’s nervousness.
Vada smiled weakly, appreciating your attempt to comfort her. She took a deep breath, her eyes searching through the screen and onto your face. She had to compose herself, to stop the redness from spreading.
“It’s just, You’re really important to me.” She muttered softly, holding the phone closer to her face. “I’ve never felt this way before towards another person, not like this.”
You found yourself lost in her words, remembering every syllable. “How do you feel about me?” You say quietly, lost in Vada’s eyes through the screen.
Vada softly bit her lower lip, slightly hesitant to say the words out loud. But she took another deep breath, before murmuring the words. “I like you. I really like you…”
Vada felt her cheeks growing warm again, and her heart felt as if it was thumping out of her chest. “More than I’ve ever liked anyone.” She mumbled, eyes still remaining locked onto your face.
You open your mouth to speak, but you’re at a loss for words as your face blushes at Vada’s intimate confession. “Like, like-like me?”
Vada let out a light chuckle, finding your flustered words and blushing cheeks incredibly cute. She smiled weakly, shaking her head.
“Yes, like-like you. Is that so surprising?” She teased lightly, her own cheeks growing redder.
“I- I never realized” You say, unsure how to respond.
“I like you too.”
A genuine, warm smile spread across Vada’s face as she heard your words. Her heart skipped a beat, and a strong fluttering sensation filled her body.
“You do?” She responded quietly, a mix of disbelief and relief in her tone. She held the phone closer to her face, wanting to get a clear view of your expression.
A grin finds your face. “Vada, I just told you how we were making out in my dream. Was it not obvious?” You say, flustered.
“Yes I-” I find myself smiling as I say the next few words. “I like you.”
Vada’s face grew redder at the thought of what you just said. Hearing you explicitly say that you liked her in that way made her heart flutter even more.
“You’re an idiot.” She said with a soft laugh, shaking her head. “But a cute idiot.”
You hid your face into your pillow again as it flushed red. “You need to give me a warning or something before you say stuff like that.”
Vada let out a small laugh, unable to hold back her amusement at your flustered expression. She shook her head, before responding in a teasing manner. “Warning? Then where's the fun in that? I just want to see how red I can make you.”
You scream into your pillow, kicking your feet into the mattress. You pry your face off the pillow, face beet red. “That doesn’t help either.”
Vada laughed again, thoroughly enjoying the way you were acting. She watched you through the screen, amused by how easy it was to make you flustered.
“Awww… You’re too easy to mess with.” She teased, a smirk spreading across her face.
“Yeah, yeah, yeah.” You say with an annoyed tone, your smile showing your true feelings.
After you take a moment to get comfortable, you can’t help but get lost in Vada’s deep brown eyes. “I want to see you in person.”
Vada smiled softly, feeling a small flutter of excitement in her chest at your request.
“Oh yeah? You want to see me in person?” She teased, biting her lower lip. “You miss me that badly?”
“Duh.” You say, teasingly. “No camera can do your face justice. I just want to appreciate you in person.”
Vada let out a small laugh, her cheeks growing red once more. She shook her head, before responding with a teasing tone. “Flattery will get you nowhere.”
“What? We’ve been out later than this before.” You say, grumpily.
Vada tried to hold back a laugh at your grumpy reaction, finding you little temper adorable. “Oh, is someone getting grumpy?” She teased, her lips still curled up into a smirk.
“You’re the one who woke me up, and you have the audacity to say that I miss you?” You say, teasingly. “I do, but that’s not the point.”
Vada let out a small laugh, shaking her head at your sassiness. Her heart felt warm, as she continued to banter with you.
“And you’re the one who asked to see me in person at 2 am.” She teased back, smiling.
You find yourself silent for a moment, admiring her smile. “I was being serious about hanging out by the way. Maybe you can spend the night at my place or something.”
Vada’s heart fluttered at the thought. She quickly nodded, unable to hide the excitement in her voice. “Of course! I’d- I’d really like that.”
“I’ll pick you up!” You say, practically jumping out of bed to put on your shoes.
Vada smiled with excitement at your eagerness, her heart racing with anticipation. She couldn't help but laugh, seeing how quickly you were getting ready.
“Wow, you’re really excited to see me, huh?” She teased, her own eagerness growing.
Your face flushes red off the camera as you tie your shoes. “You’re not allowed to tease me whenever I’m driving.”
Vada chuckled at your words, her eyes still fixed on the screen. She shook her head in amusement, before playfully responding. “Oh, no teasing while you’re driving?”
She pretended to pout, putting on an exaggerated sad face. “But I love teasing you.”
“I love not getting into a car accident.” You say, grabbing your phone as you leave the house.
Vada rolled her eyes, but couldn’t help but laugh at your reply. She knew you were right, but still found your reaction adorable. “Fine, fine. No teasing while you’re driving, I promise. Can’t have you getting distracted now, can we?”
You step into your car, twisting the keys in the ignition. “You get it.”
You put on your bluetooth, putting on the playlist you and Vada made together.
Vada smiled as she heard the music, her heart racing once more. She felt a sense of nostalgia and warmth, reminiscing on the memories you shared.
“I do get it. Can’t have you distracted by me when you’re supposed to be keeping your eyes on the road.” She replied playfully, her eyes still locked on the screen.
Time passes quickly as you drive to Vada’s house, luckily she doesn’t live far.
“I’m here!” You say, eagerly. “Make sure you have everything you need.”
Vada couldn’t help but laugh at your eagerness, finding it adorable. “I’m ready, don’t worry.” She responded, grabbing her bag and heading out the door. She stepped out of her house, closing the door behind her.
As she reached your car, Vada looked through the window, a playful grin on her face. “You got enough room for me in there, or should I sit on the roof?”
You look around the car jokingly. The car is practically empty with 3 available seats. “No room, sorry.” You say, teasingly.
Vada rolled her eyes, but a small laugh escaped her lips. She shook her head at your teasing.
“Oh, very funny.” Vada says, taking the passenger seat.
You instantly find yourself lost in her beauty. She really does look better in person.
Vada noticed the way your eyes were fixed on her. The fluttering in her chest grew stronger as she buckled her seatbelt.
“Don’t mind me, I’m just gonna take up all the armrest space.” She says, teasingly.
You put the car in drive, the car slowly rolling down the street. “Just save some space for me.”
Vada chuckled again, pretending to think. “Hmm, I suppose I can share.”
She scooted closer to you, leaning her body slightly to take up more of the on space on the console. She turned to you with a smirk, clearly teasing you once more. “But only a little bit.”
You find your face flushing red. She’s clearly ignoring the no teasing rule, but you don’t care. You enjoy her teasing too much. You slide your elbow onto the center console, moving it over until it’s touching Vada’s arm.
Vada’s heart skipped a beat as she felt your elbow touch her, the teasing smirk still present on her face.
As the car turned in the direction of your house, Vada’s gaze shifted out the window. She watched the street lights passing by, the night growing more cozy and intimate inside the car. The music from our combined playlist fills the car. You feel your heart rate accelerate just at the idea that this playlist is something you both share.
“If I get another red light I swear.” You say, as you stop in front of a red light, trying to calm your heart.
Vada noticed you feeling nervous, a small smile tugging at her lips. “You’re getting all worked up over a red light, huh?” She teased gently, trying to ease your anxiety.
As the light turned green, she reached over to give your hand a comforting squeeze. “Don’t worry, we’re almost there. And then you don’t have to worry about any more red lights.”
Your heart skips a beat at Vada’s touch, causing a shiver to go down your spine. Your face is beet red, contrasting the green light as we turn onto your street.
Vada couldn’t help but find your flustered reaction adorable. She kept her hand gently on yours, feeling the warmth and comfort of the moment.
You hesitantly pull your hand away, Vada’s touch lingering as you put the car in park in front of your house. “Is there anything specific you wanted to do? Maybe a movie you’ve been meaning to watch?”
“A movie sounds great.” She replied, her eyes lighting up at the suggestion.
Vada grabbed her bag, her heart still fluttering at the thought of your touch just moments ago. She followed you towards the house, a small smile on her face. As they stepped into your house, Vada looked around, taking in the familiar surroundings.
She shrugged off her jacket, hanging it near the doorway. “Anything you have in mind?”
You shake your head. “I picked last time, it’s your turn. I swear though if you pick another horror movie you’ll be the one paying for my therapy.”
Vada chuckled, shaking her head. “Oh, come on, I don’t pick THAT many horror movies.”
She then pretended to think for a moment, before a smirk appeared on her face. “But if I did pick a horror movie…” She teased, intentionally leaving the sentence unfinished to mess with you.
You walk past Vada, leading the way to the empty and silent living room. “Then you’ll be the one consoling me afterwards.”
Vada chuckled, following you into the living room. She watched as you settled in, a playful glint in her eyes.
“Oh, yes, I’ll be your personal cuddle buddy while you recover from the horrors on the screen.” She teased, flopping onto the couch next to you. She shifted into a comfortable position, trying to figure out what movie to pick.
“That doesn’t sound too bad.” You mutter to myself.
Vada smirked, hearing your muttered response. She leaned her against the back of the couch, studying the options on the TV.
“You really want me to hold you while you’re scared, hm? How adorable.” She teased, nudging you gently with her elbow.
Your face flushed red. “You heard that?” You watch as Vada scrolls through Netflix.
Vada couldn’t help but laugh at your embarrassed reaction. She gently poked your arm, amused by your flustered expression. “Of course I heard it, you’re sitting right beside me.”
She continued scrolling through the movie options, teasing you further. “You’re lucky you’re cute when you’re embarrassed, you know that?”
You slide down the couch, your upper back resting on the back of the seat as you hide behind your hands.
Vada couldn’t help but find your attempt at hiding adorable. She chuckled, her eyes still scanning the movie options. “Aww, are you trying to hide now? Hiding your embarrassment won’t work, you know.”
She glanced over at you, still hiding behind your hands and shook her head with a smirk. She scooted a little closer, her shoulder gently brushing against you. “C’mon, I want to see your face.”
“You’ll have to pry my hands off my face then.” You say, your voice muffled.
Vada’s smirk grew wider, her eyes gleaming with mischief. She leaned closer to you, gently grabbing your wrists to pull your hands away from your face.
As soon as she caught a glimpse of your flushed expression, she couldn’t help but laugh affectionately.
“Why are you so cute when you’re blushing?” She teased, her grip on your wrists still firm, keeping your hands away.
Your face somehow becomes a deeper shade of red as you fail to hide your face again, struggling against Vada’s grasp.
Vada’s heart fluttered as she saw the deepening redness on your face. “No, no, no. No more hiding. I want to see that adorable blushing face, so you better give up.”
She tightened her grip on your wrists. She scooted even closer to you, her body nearly pressed against yours. She was clearly amused, enjoying the little game they were playing.
Your body temperature rapidly increases as Vada’s body soon presses against yours, giving into defeat as you stop struggling. “You win.”
A victorious smile formed on Vada’s lips as you finally gave in. “I always win, remember?”
She loosened her grip on your wrists, but she didn’t pull away. Instead, she continued to hold your hand, gently caressing it with her thumb. “Look at you, all red and flustered. It’s adorable.”
As your face holds the familiar red shade, you find yourself lost in Vada’s deep brown eyes. Your pupils dilating under her gaze.
Vada noticed how you became entranced, your gaze fixed on her eyes.
“You’re staring.” She pointed out, a hint of amusement in her tone.
She continued to hold your gaze, her own eyes searching your face for any sign of nervousness or discomfort. But all she found was a deep connection, her heart fluttering at the sight.
You glance at her lips for a moment before looking away embarrassed.
“S-sorry, I didn’t mean to.” You say, stumbling over your words.
Vada couldn’t help but smirk when she noticed you glancing at her lips. “No need to apologize.” She said, her voice soft and teasing. She watched as you stumbled over your words, finding your nervousness endearing.
Without thinking, her thumb gently brushed over the back of your hand, making small circular motions as she continued to hold your gaze.
Your eyes instinctively find Vada’s gaze again, as if you have no control over it. Time feels like it's frozen as you find yourself lost in Vada’s eyes once again. You blush under her touch, every ounce of intimacy darkening the hue of your red face.
Vada noticed how you were drawn to her gaze, as if entranced. She saw the way your blushing face deepened with every small touch and gesture. It made her heart race, the intimacy between them growing stronger with each passing moment.
She smiled softly, her thumb still gently caressing your hand. Vada couldn’t help but find herself getting lost in the moment as well, the world around them fading into the background. All that mattered was you and her, caught in the intensity of their connection.
Your gaze shifts to her lips for a moment, your mind full of ideas that you’re too anxious to attempt. “I, uh- Can I-”
You found words impossible to find under Vada’s intimate presence, vulnerability in your eyes.
Vada noticed this shift, the way your gaze lingered on her lips for just a moment. She could sense the nervousness in your words, the vulnerability in your expression. Her heart raced at the implication of your unfinished sentence, her own desire growing stronger by the second.
Her grip on your hand tightened just slightly, her thumb still tracing small circles on your skin. Without breaking eye contact, she gently nodded, as if silently encouraging you to continue.
As if the last puzzle piece slid into place, words formed together.
“Can I kiss you?”
You ask quietly, your heart practically jumping out of your chest, hearing each beat get stronger the longer you stare into her intimate eyes.
Vada’s breath hitched as she heard the words leave your mouth. The vulnerability you showed, the way you asked, her heart melted in an instant. She could feel your nervousness mirrored in her own fluttering heart.
She let out a soft, shaky breath, her gaze still holding yours. A moment passed, and then she nodded once more, a warm smile spreading across her face. Her voice was barely above a whisper.
“Yes, you can.”
A shiver ran down Vada’s spine as your hand found its way to the back of her neck, drawing her closer. The moment your lips touched, her mind went blank, leaving only the sensation of you against her. She kissed back gently, her lips molding to yours as if they were made for each other.
She moved her hand to cup your face, her fingertips brushing your skin as the kiss deepened. Vada could feel your warm breath mixing with hers, and the taste of your chapstick on her lips only fueled her desire.
Vada’s heart raced as the kiss deepened, each movement of your lips sending waves of electric arousal through her body. She could feel the desire to be closer, to be engulfed in your presence. The feeling of your hands cupping her face, your body squirming against hers, ignited a fire within her.
Your hands slide down to her hips, sliding under her shirt to feel her bare skin as they rest on her waist. Your tongue gently passes your lips, the touch of it asking to deepen the intimate kiss even further.
A soft gasp escaped Vada’s lips as your hands found their way under her shirt, the contact of your fingers against her bare skin sending a rush of electricity through her body. The feel of your touch against her sensitive skin made her shiver, her desire to be close to you consuming her every thought.
As she felt your tongue gently passing through your lips, she eagerly responded to your silent request. Her tongue brushed against yours, the kiss deepening in intensity as she pulled herself even closer to you, the need to feel you against her body growing stronger.
Vada’s tongue claimed a dominant position, the sound of heavy breathing escaping our mouths as our bodies pressed against each other. Your hands roaming across her bare back only fueled her eagerness, the feeling of your touch causing goosebumps to form on her skin.
Her hands clutched your shoulders, her fingernails digging into your skin as she pulled you down on top of her. She wanted to feel the weight of you against her, to feel every inch of your body.
You gasp as Vada rolls you on top of her, our bodies on the edge of the couch almost falling off.
You didn’t care.
All you wanted was to be closer, your body yearning for hers.
She moaned softly at the contact, her arms wrapping around your neck, pulling you down to deepen the kiss. She wanted to feel your entire body against hers, every inch of her craving your touch, your presence, your everything.
Your knee slips off the couch, causing us to fall off. Your tongue slips out of her mouth, a trail of saliva breaking. Your back thuds against the carpet.
Vada came crashing down on top of you, her body landing on yours with a soft thud.
For a moment, you both laid there in a tangled mess, breaths heavy and chests rising and falling rapidly. Then Vada let out a soft laugh, her head buried in the crook of your neck.
She lifted her head, a cheeky smile on her face as she looked down at you. “Well, that certainly wasn’t in the plan.”
You find yourself unable to contain your laughter. “Are you okay?”
Vada’s laughter grew louder as she heard your giggles, her heart lighter in your presence. She shifted her body so she wasn’t completely pinning you to the floor, propping herself up on her forearms.
“Yeah, I’m fine.” She managed to say between bouts of laughter. She looked down at you, her eyes sparkling with amusement. “Are you? I hope I didn’t crush you too badly.”
You found the opportunity too perfect to not abuse. “I think you might’ve ruptured my spleen, and fractured 12 vertebrae.” You say, teasingly.
Vada couldn’t help but roll her eyes playfully, a smirk forming on her lips. “Oh, you’re such a drama queen.” She retorted, gently flicking your nose. Her body still lay partially on top of yours, comfortable and familiar.
“Trust me, you’ll survive. I bet your spine is made of steel or something.”
Vada’s playful expression quickly shifts as she hears the sound of footsteps descending the staircase.
She props herself up on her elbows, shifting slightly to make sure she’s off of you.
“Shit.” You mumble softly, your eyes focused on the door to the living room.
You found yourself scrambling to your feet, your breath still heavy and unstable as you find a seat back on the couch.
Vada follows suit, straightening herself up and making sure her hair isn’t a complete mess. She takes a seat next to you, her body still close, and subtly takes a moment to regain her composure.
Your heart races, knowing that whoever is coming down the stairs will be able to tell something has been going on.
Your mom walks into the living room, shocked to find Vada sitting next to you. “Oh! I didn’t know you were here Vada.”
Vada glances up as your mom appears in the doorway, her heart still pounding in her chest from the sudden interruption. She offers a small smile, trying to hide any hints of the intimate moment she had just shared with you.
“Hey, Mrs. Y/l/n.” Vada replies, sitting up straighter as if trying to appear more composed. “Just hanging out with Y/n, didn’t mean to surprise you.”
“It’s okay, you’re always welcome here.” Your mom looks at your beet red face, looking between us knowingly. “Don’t have too much fun.”
Your face flushes with embarrassment as your mom turns around to head back upstairs.
Vada watches as your mom leaves the room, a mixture of relief and embarrassment washing over her. She can’t help but notice the knowing look on her face, and the intense blush on your face isn’t helping her suspicions.
A smirk spreads across Vada’s face as she turns to look at you. “Your mom knows, she totally knows.”
“Gee, you think so?” You say sarcastically, reflecting Vada’s smirk.
Vada shakes her head, a playful glint in her eyes. “Oh, I know so. She’s got that mom superpower, you know? It’s like they can smell when something’s up.”
She laughs softly, shifting closer to you on the couch. “Your face was a dead giveaway. You looked like a tomato.”
Your face deepens a shade of red. “You of all people should know I can’t control that.”
Vada chuckles softly, her eyes sparkling with amusement. She leans closer, her arm brushes against yours as she teases you further.
Yeah, I do know.” She admits with a smirk. “But it’s cute. I like that I can make your face turn red like that.”
She bumps her shoulder against yours playfully. “It's a good thing your mom is cool. I don’t think she’d appreciate catching us while making out though.”
You found yourself swallowing your saliva, the taste of her tongue still lingering. “We’re lucky it was my mom, my dad would’ve killed you.”
Vada rests her hand on your knee. “Well, it’s a good thing your mom has a soft spot for me then.”
She squeezes your knee gently, still smiling. “But yeah, your dad would probably freak out, huh? Gotta be more careful next time.”
Her last few words echo in your head. “So, there’s going to be a next time?” You ask, the feeling of her hand on your knee sends electricity rushing through your body.
Vada’s smirk only widens as she notices the effect her touch has on you. She gently squeezes your knee once more.
“Oh, definitely.” She replies, her voice low and teasing. “Why stop when things just started getting interesting?”
Your breath hitches as she leans closer, teasing me with her presence.
Vada relishes the reaction she elicits from you. She leans even closer, her body pressing against yours on the couch. She can feel the rapid beat of your heart in your chest.
“You’re getting all flustered again,” She whispers in your ear, her breath fanning across your skin. Her hand gently moves to rest on your thigh, just about your knee. “I love that I can affect you so easily.”
Your body temperature rapidly increases under her endless teasing. “We should probably calm down before my dad actually catches us.” You say, disappointedly.
Vada lets out a soft chuckle, amused by your attempt to regain composure. She withdraws her hand from your thigh, reluctantly putting some space between you two.
“You’re right, we shouldn’t push our luck.” She agrees, nodding. “Your dad would probably go into full parent mode if he found us like this.”
She leans back against the couch, her body still close, but no longer touching you.
The sensation of Vada’s hand lingers on your bare thigh, missing her touch. “Maybe we can actually watch a movie now.”
Vada can’t help but notice the way your eyes linger on the spot her hand was, a satisfied smile on her face.
“That sounds fun.” She says, disappointedly.
You notice her mood drop before looking at the clock. “Or maybe-” You cut yourself off as your face flushes. “We can go to bed, it’s getting pretty late.” The hue of your face deepens as you imagine sharing a bed with Vada.
Vada raises an eyebrow, noticing the hint of red on your cheeks. She leans in closer again, a sly smile playing on her lips.
“Whatcha getting nervous about?” She teases, her hand gently touching your arm.
Your blush only gets worse under her longing touch, you break eye contact before speaking. “Or we can watch a movie in my room, whatever works for you.”
Vada notes the way you shy away from eye contact, your cheeks flushed. She grins, loving how easily she can get to you.
“Oh, so you just want to go to your room now, huh?” She teases, gently nudging your shoulder. “I see how it is. You just want to get me alone in private.”
She laughs softly, her hand finding your thigh as she gives it a squeeze. “A movie in your room sounds good. Your bed is more comfortable anyways.”
You found yourself shivering under her touch, standing unnaturally fast after she squeezed.
“I uh!-” You stammer, blushing. “Let’s head to my room then.” You say, failing to act nonchalant.
Vada chuckles softly as she sees you stumble over your words, clearly flustered by her touch. She stands up gracefully, her eyes fixated on you with a knowing smirk on her face.
“Looks like someone’s getting a little worked up.” She teases, slowly following you up the stairs, her footsteps light and nimble as she tries to contain her excitement for the night ahead.
a/n: heyy guys!! this fic was kinda an experiment for writing stuff like this. feel free to lmk how you feel about it and if I should write more intimate fics like this :)
Summary: You and Wednesday are walking to Jericho after Wednesday had her vision in the meeting house. You have a question for Wednesday which gets her stuck in thought.
Past Lives one-shot
a/n: might have somethings that don't make sense if you haven't read 'We'll Meet Again' or 'Past Lives' but most of this doesn't need that context.
My boots squish into the mud of the dirt path, the rain just stopping a moment ago. Your shoes follow the pace of mine, meeting the same muddy fate.
There is a comfortable silence between us. We never had to try to force conversation, satisfied with merely the presence of one another.
"This is a stupid thought." You begin talking over the occasional patter of water dripping off the leaves. "Do you think we're friends in every universe?"
I stop in place, my boots sinking deeper into the mud. You halt beside me, finding my eyes with yours.
"Like, maybe we're Sherlock Holmes and John Watson." You say with a smile, looking into my eyes as I respond with silence.
You look at the ground with an embarrassed smile as you continue walking. "I told you it was a stupid thought."
You walk ahead of me for a moment, the squish of muddy footsteps filling the woods.
I find myself stuck in place, as if the mud was holding me. The only thing I can think about is that red string.
I find myself smiling as you pull the lever on the blue slushie machine for me. "Tell me when." You say with a smile.
You stop before the blue ice overflows out of the cup. "I didn't say when!" I say, teasingly.
"It was going to spill over, Vada." You grab another cup, holding it under your favorite flavor before looking at me with an expecting glance.
I pull the lever, the colored ice filling the cup.
"When." You say, a playful smile creeps up on my lips as I don't let go.
"Stop!" You playful shout, pulling the cup out of the way as it overflows.
"Vada!" I can't help but giggle as you grab a bunch of napkins to clean your cup.
We're both walking down the street, the lights illuminating our dark path. I hold a grocery bag of sweets and other snacks in hand, my slushie in the other.
I glance at you as I loudly sip from my cup. You're staring at yours, lost in thought with a smile on your face.
"Do you think we get to do stuff like this is every universe?" You say quietly.
I stare at you for a moment, admiring your cute sentiment.
"Of course!" I say with a wide smile.
You raise your eyes from your cup, finding mine as you return the smile.
I'm reading your poem silently as you stand in front of me awkwardly. The warm lights of my bedroom creating the perfect cozy aesthetic.
Your poem clearly follows the idea of two souls destined to be together, no matter what.
I look at you above the paper after I've finished reading, unsure what to do or say.
"So, what do you think Cairo?" You ask, curiously.
I take a deep breath. "I'm not a big fan of the idea of soulmates."
You look at me confused. "What do you mean?"
I stand before sitting next to you in my bed. "Soulmates are destined." I say, holding my eyes onto yours.
"The idea of destined connection dilutes the experience of love." I inch closer, putting my hand on your bare thigh.
"I prefer the idea that we're together because we choose to be, our souls breaking the quantum chains that bind us apart just for a chance to feel each other's touch a moment longer."
You shiver as I caress your thigh. "The feeling of you forever lingering on my skin, itching for just one second longer, as if that would be enough to satiate my hunger."
You're eyes look through mine with infatuation, my 'fancy words' as you would call it always had this effect on you. I move my hand up to your cheek, looking into your eyes lovingly. "Our determination for just that one mere second guiding us in every universe. Even if fate defies us, we would rather die trying than to spare another moment apart."
I slowly bring my face closer to yours, feeling your unsteady breath on me as I glance at your perfect lips. "I would choose you in every universe. Not because we're destined to be, but because there is no one else I'd rather have."
You grab my face, pulling your lips to mine hungrily. Your arms move down, wrapping around my neck as you pull me down to lay on top of you. As our lips touch, I ingrain the feeling permanently into my mind.
I murmur awake to the sound of a heartbeat monitor. The pain of all my wounds from the Ghostface attack quickly settling in as I open my eyes.
I feel another sensation, the feeling of your hand in mine. After I recognize this feeling it's as if all my pain fades away.
My eyelids finally finish prying themselves apart to find you asleep by my hospital bed, hunched over in a chair. Even as you sleep, you tightly grip my hand, as if you're you're afraid you'll let go.
I find myself smiling, admiring you at my bedside. I squeeze your hand in an attempt to wake you.
You squirm a bit in your seat, your grip tight as ever.
Your eyes open, adjusting to the harsh fluorescent lights.
"Tara!" You jump awake, a noticable weight off you after you see my smile.
Your grip loosens for a moment before squeezing my hand once again. "I uh- How're you feeling?"
My smile widens under the mere presence of you. "Better now."
You place your other hand over mine, caressing my knuckles lovingly. "I'm not leaving this hospital unless you're leaving with me."
I find myself lost in your hands, watching your thumb gently move between my knuckles as if I could break if not handled with care. I always loved how gentle you were with me. You manage to make me feel like a beautiful flower, scared to damage my petals and stem that I only see as a part of me, but you see it as so much more.
"I hope you're there for me in every universe." I say, looking up from your gentle hands to your eyes. "I don't know how well I would have handled this on my own."
The heartbeat monitor fills the momentary silence between us, words forming in your thoughts.
"I know I'm there for you in every universe, the same way you're there for me." You look into my eyes as if they were windows, your emotions passing through with ease.
I focus on the caring sensation of your touch, allowing your love into the windows to my soul.
I look back on the vision of our past selves I had in the meeting house, feeling the red string that binds us inside me.
"Wednesday?" You ask, stopped ahead of me.
I pry my boots out of the mud, the deepest it sunk into the ground. My squishy footsteps fill the woods as I catch up to be by your side.
"I believe we're together in every universe, whether it's because we found each, or because we choose to." I say, attempting to hide the emotion that so strongly desired to be on stage.
A genuine smile replaces the embarrassment on your face before turning to continue walking, our comfortable silence resuming as we head back to Jericho.
a/n: heyy hope you enjoyed this super short thingie. I plan on making more past lives one-shots before s2 of Wednesday releases. feel free to request ideas for that :))
I decided that I will be reuploading all of Past Lives as my first fic on Wattpad! As I go through the process of reuploading it I'm going to be re-reading everything and make some revisions where I see fit.
Nothing plot changing of course and the revisions will be here on Tumblr as well
Summary: You were kidnapped and Wednesday tries to rescue you.
Warnings: Descriptions of blood, cuts, and pain
The door to Weems' office slams open, revealing Bianca and Xavier. Weems looks at them with concern.
"Y/n's gone." Bianca says. "But, Xavier says he might know where she went."
Weems immediately stands, her concern turning to anxiety as she notices the light cast by the pale moon illuminating the room shifting to a dark ominous red.
Weems turns to her balcony, met with the blood moon hanging over the school.
"Don't bother." Weems states, turning back to her desk. She holds the button next to a microphone, before speaking into the intercom. "All students and faculty, evacuate the school and meet at the busses. This is not a drill."
She releases the button, glaring at Xavier and Bianca before heading towards the door. Xavier and Bianca look at each other with concern before following her.
Enid sits up, alarmed at Weems message. She rushes around the empty dorm to find anything you or Wednesday might want her to grab. When she rushes to your side of the room, she notices your silver hairs littered around.
The hairs are crawling like worms, all slithering towards the direction of the moon in the window.
It suddenly clicks in her head, what your white hair meant. Enid runs to Wednesday's side of the dorm, quickly finding the novel she's been working on. She skims the last few passages, finding Wednesday describing resurrection and the blood moon required for it.
Next to Wednesday's novel, Enid finds the drawing that Rowan gave to her. All the events of tonight connecting.
She finds the door, fighting through the crowd of students to a different exit of the school.
Enid runs after she gets through the crowd, before finding her way into the dark forest. Her path illuminated by your blood moon.
Tyler's car stops in front of Crackstone's Crypt, the engine cuts off as we exit the vehicle. I go to enter before looking back at Tyler.
"I'll stay out here and keep watch." He says. I silently acknowledge him before descending the stairs into the crypt.
At the bottom I find Ms. Thornhill and you placing jars containing the body parts of the victims on runic symbols. Your hair is that silvery white that I'm still not accustomed to. You walk with a limp, blood trickling down your arms and legs.
My priority of you blinds me of the fact that Ms. Thornhill and you are setting up the ritual to revive Joseph Crackstone.
"Y/n!" I find myself running towards you, interrupted by Ms. Thornhill putting herself between the two of us.
"Not so fast, Wednesday." Thornhill holds a knife that's already stained with your blood towards me.
I suddenly visualize Ms Thornhill as the one who tied you down in the corrupted vision. As if a final puzzle piece finally slide into place.
After you place the final jar, you face towards me, revealing a white haze clouding over your eyes.
I put my hands up, taking a few steps back.
Thornhill quickly grabs you, holding the knife near your throat. "Try anything, and Y/n's dead. Understand?"
I find myself lost in your clouded gaze for a moment before looking at Thornhill. "What'd you do to her?"
A mischievous smile creeps up onto Thornhill's face. "Just took some notes from the book you left for me, the book of curses that Y/n was too weak to cast from."
Thornhill releases her grasp from you, knife still to your throat. She pulls out a pair of handcuffs, putting them in your obedient hands. "Y/n, be a good puppet and restrain Wednesday for me."
Thornhill moves the knife from your throat to the nape of your neck, following you as you approach.
I hold my hands out in front of me, powerless in this situation. You click the handcuffs gently over my wrists, your blood streaks down your arms, dripping onto my hands.
"Now take ten steps back." Ms. Thornhill demands, you follow her orders without hesitation or emotion.
"If Wednesday attempts to hurt me, I demand that you defend me. Understand?" You nod to Thornhill's order before she lowers the knife.
Thornhill looks past me to the exit. "And don't even think about trying to escape, I got Tyler outside waiting for you to make a move."
Thornhill takes a few steps towards me ominously.
"You know, we have roots that go all the way back to Joseph Crackstone." Thornhill takes the opportunity to begin to monologue.
"So you come from a line of psychotic killers too." I say flatly, my restrained hands resting in front of me.
Thornhill's expression is suddenly fueled with anger. "Joseph Crackstone was a visionary, dedicated to protecting normies from outcasts until his life was cut short by your ancestor, Goody Addams."
The blood from the wounds on your arms and legs are starting to puddle underneath you as you stand idly.
"And then, to add insult to injury, they stole his land to build that abomination of a school. But, throughout the centuries, my family has remained committed to Crackstone's mission. My brother died serving that cause. I decided to take a different approach. The supernatural."
"So you're resurrecting Joseph Crackstone?" I say, confused by her plan, relying on one person.
"The one man who nearly succeeded in eradicating the outcasts." Thornhill moves to the casket, picking up the book of shadows.
"It wasn't enough for Goody to kill Crackstone. She had to curse his soul too."
I find myself silent for a second. "What does this have to do with me?"
"My dear Wednesday, you are the key. Your arrival at Nevermore set the chubby wheels of my plans in motion. Goody sealed Crackstone in his sarcophagus with a blood lock. Only one of her direct descendants can open it. A living descendant on the night of a blood moon."
Thornhill glances at you, meeting my idle gaze soon after. "That's where Y/n comes in. It was a miracle that the only witch to attend our school this year just happened to be afflicted with the curse of the moon. Originally a ritual done to connect witches with the stars, turned into one for the intention of resurrection. Poor souls, only born to bleed for others."
"Y/n's more than a bag of blood." I say, defensively. Thornhill smirks at my response, satisfied with her decision to take you hostage.
"You're right, she's a pawn in my game. Defenseless, just like you." Thornhill turns to you. "Y/n, be a doll and unlock the blood lock."
You take wobbly steps towards me due to the injuries and blood loss, pulling your wand out. You forcefully grab my hand, dragging me towards the casket.
I grab her wrist, resisting. "Y/n stop!" I shout. I notice Thornhill's smile becoming sinister before opening the book of shadows, flipping through the pages.
We're now merely inches away from the casket, she takes the wand to my hand. "Sectum Sempra."
You quickly guide your wand across the palm of my hand, blood instantly trickling out of the fresh cut.
You force my hand onto the the circular icon on the front of the casket. I release a cry of pain as it cauterizes the cut on my hand, the symbol burning an ominous red.
You let go, taking a step back as your order was completed. I try to pry my hand off the casket, stuck to the symbol, until it finally releases me. I find the floor as I fall backwards from my built up momentum.
Thornhill puts the book of shadows on the casket before grabbing the chains of my restraints, dragging me towards the pillar, my back against it.
She finds her way back to the book, picking it up and taking a few steps back. She begins to recite the incantation as I find my pocket knife in my shoe.
The jars illuminate a pale blue, the runic symbols beneath them glowing an ominous orange as I stick the pocket knife into the keyhole of the cuffs.
The sound of thunder fills the room, the flashes of lightning contrasting the red cast by the moon.
Electricity links between the jars, all connecting to the casket before a dark fog emanates from the lid.
The fog fills the room, fading to reveal Joseph Crackstone above his own casket.
Thornhill takes a step towards him. "I am of your blood. I have summoned you to rid the world of outcasts once and for all."
Crackstone holds out his hand, soon met with Thornhill's eager one. Her lips meet his decrepit hand. "My vengeance will be swift and true."
"As will mine." I stand, the cuffs clinking as they hit the ground.
He holds his staff towards me, the end glowing an ominous green. I find myself stuck in place, a magical force covering my body. "Goody Addams. You haunt me still. You will suffer the same fate you bequeathed me."
He pulls out a dagger, stepping closer.
"Wait!"
Thornhill shouts. Crackstone turns his head to her, seeing you past her. "I know how to make this vengeance sweeter." She says with a sinister smile.
"Y/n!" Thornhill grabs a knife, placing it in your hands. "Stab and kill Wednesday Addams."
The knife trembles for a moment, your body resisting the order.
Thornhill notices your willpower resisting, pulling out her wand. She points it at you, determination in her eyes. "Crucio!"
You release a loud cry of pain as your body seizes as if electricity was coursing through your body. You drop the knife as you fall to the ground in pain.
You continue to squirm on the ground as Thornhill keeps the wand on you, releasing a constant scream of agony.
I watch in horror at the suffering you're going through, thinking of a thousand different ways to make Thornhill suffer a worse fate. Her shouting the incantation replaying over and over in my head.
Thornhill pants after releasing the curse, pulling Goody's wand away. Your body rests only for a moment before forcing itself to stand, picking up the knife.
I'm still stuck in place as Crackstone's magic is still in effect. You slowly limp towards me, sadness managing to find your face past the curse you were under.
"Elsie Y/l/n. What a symbolic way to end Goody's life." Crackstone says with a crooked smile.
My heart rate is now uncontrollable as you stand in front of me for a moment, your body hesitating.
In a sudden motion you stab me in the abdomen, releasing the knife after the full impact. I fall back on to the pillar, sliding down the wall as I cough up blood.
I look up to find your cloudy white eyes looking down upon me.
I open my eyes to find myself in a dark endless void. I pull out my wand, followed by a pale light emitting from the end of it.
I see my reflection on the dark floor. My hair in it's white, true form. I take a step forward to find ripples beneath my feet, as if I was walking on water.
"Hello?" I shout, replied with the echo of my own voice. The air is chilly, yet comforting as I take a few more steps forwards to find a silhouette of a woman in front of me, her long white hair flowing with elegance.
She turns around, looking at the ground before meeting my gaze. I instantly recognize her face as mine.
She holds out her hand, a red line tangled around her fingers. The line crawls out of the center of her hand, revealing a glowing red string.
I hold out my hand instinctively. A similar string crawling from the depth of my palm.
The woman's face finds a heartfelt smile as the strings slithers through the air, before tying together.
"The spell I cast on that dreadful night was stronger than I imagined." Her soft voice reaches my ears as the string starts to expand from the knot in the center out to our side. "It didn't connect just Goody and my soul, but every version of us."
A knot is found in the air at the end of the string, splitting off into two. The strings start to tangle themselves around the silhouette of two different hands, soon embedding themselves into their skin, revealing their true appearance.
The color appears on the woman next to me, wearing a black robe with yellow accents and glasses that perfectly frame what I found to be my face.
Across from her appeared Wednesday, wearing the same black robe but with green accents. A symbol with a snake imprinted on the robe.
The glowing string continues past them, finding another knot in the air splitting in two again. The string finds two others hand. I am unable to make out my appearance past the version of me with glasses, but I can see that Wednesday looks very different. Her hair is a dark brown instead of her raven black, she's wearing a color other than black, and her style of clothing is very different.
I look back in front of me to find the girl with long white hair to be replaced with Wednesday, my Wednesday.
My eyes soften after seeing her, her eyes looking at me longingly as I get lost in them. Her lips begin to move, but her voice is muted as I start to feel more and more separated from this realm.
"Y/n..."
"Y/n..."
"Y/n!"
I release a gasp as it feels as if a veil was lifted from my eyes. I fall to my knees as the pain of several cuts and wounds settle in.
I look in front of me to find Wednesday with a knife stabbed through her abdomen.
"No, no, no!" I instinctively hover my hands over her wound, blood trickling out of the many cuts on my limbs.
"Just thought I'd be generous enough to let you watch Wednesday bleed out in front of you." Thornhill says while putting away her wand.
"Ciao." She says fluttering her fingers in a wave as she ascends the stairs with Joseph Crackstone out of the crypt.
"Wednesday I- I just saw so much." I begin to ramble about what I saw, suddenly cutting myself off as she bleeds in front of me.
Even as she nears death, she still gives me that soft gentle look she gives no one else. How much she cares about me written in her eyes when it's herself she should be worried about.
I find myself lost in her eyes, something taking control over my thoughts, visualizing the red string from before. I look down at my hands, finding the string slithering from inside both of them.
I instinctively feel my hands grab Wednesday's, closing my eyes. Even though I'm aware I'm in Crackstone's Crypt, it feels as if I'm in the meeting house. My long white hair tangled on the chains, restrained to the floor. Goody's fingers interlocked with mine.
I feel the string emerge from my hands, injecting itself into Wednesday. The string glows from under her skin as it navigates through her body to her lower abdomen.
The knife slowly elevates itself out of her wound, clinking as it hits the floor.
The glowing string emerges near her wound before entering near it again. It slowly repeats this, stitching her wound closed before fading away, her skin fully healed.
I feel the string split up inside my body, spreading out between my arms and legs. I feel them stitch my wounds painlessly.
I see Goody going to hide, feeling the heat of the flames encumber me until I open my eyes.
Suddenly the heat is gone, finding myself back at Crackstone's Crypt.
"Goody, you're okay!" I instinctively call out to Wednesday in the moment, throwing my weakened body onto her in an embrace.
I feel Wednesday's tears for the first time as she holds me, her hands trembling with fear. "I thought I lost you again." It feels as if someone else is speaking for her.
I find myself draw my head back to see her glossy eyes. "We need to stop Thornhill." I say, trying to reorganize our thoughts.
I try to stand, instantly falling again due to my lack of blood.
"Y/n!" Wednesday calls, catching me before I hit the ground before gently lowering me. "Don't worry, I will finish this."
She starts to walk towards the exit, leaving me on the ground. "I'll be back for you. I promise."
She continues her steps towards the exit. It feels as if something is missing, something I need to do.
"Goody, wait!" I call out instinctively. "I mean, Wednesday."
Her footsteps stop, looking back to me with her soft eyes.
"I need to do something first, in case anything goes wrong." I say longingly. Wednesday's footsteps come back as she approaches back to me, before kneeling beside me.
I find my face flush with heat at my thoughts. "Can- can I kiss you?"
She admires my face for a moment, glancing at my lips before nodding. She gently grabs my face with her right hand, staining my face with blood.
She closes the distance between us, her cold yet comforting lips finding mine. As the kiss deepens, I feel my eyes get glossy. A tear breaks through the threshold of my closed eyes, landing onto Wednesday's bloodied hand.
The tear wasn't mine.
Wednesday releases her lips from mine. I see she also has fresh tears before she wipes them away. She stands, turning to face the exit again. "I will be back for you, Elsie."
I watch as she walks away, a new found confidence in her step.
I exit Crackstone's Crypt, the feeling of your lips lingering on mine. The red light that used to be cast now illuminating its usual pale blue.
The crunching of the leaves fill the woods as I rush through the forest, soon interrupted by Tyler revealing himself behind a tree. "Laurel said you were dead."
"I'm feeling much better now." I said sarcastically.
Tyler begins to step closer intimidatingly. "You're like a cockroach."
"Please, flattery will get you nowhere."
Tyler grabs the collar of my shirt, trying to be intimidating. "This will not end well for you." I say, threateningly.
Tyler's eyes start to bulge unnaturally, his clothes tearing as he shifts into the monster.
He dashes forward, lifting me into the air before pushing me into the broken stump of a dead tree. He raises his right claw, about to slash me until what looks like a giant wolf tackles him.
The sound of both of them tumbling through the leaves fills the woods before the wolf throws Tyler into a tree.
I pry myself off the stump, looking towards the wolf. The wolf turns towards me, their colored hair glistening in the moonlight.
"Enid?" I ask, feeling a combination of curiosity and excitement.
The Hyde stands behind Enid, the shadows cast by the trees giving him an intimidating aura.
"Enid!" I shout before Tyler slaps her away with the back of his hand.
Enid lands on all fours, growling after making eye contact with Tyler. They both start sprinting towards each other to attack.
"I need to get back to school!" I start to run, before suddenly stopping. I turn back to look at Enid. "Check on Y/n at Crackstone Crypt after you deal with this!"
I turn again, navigating through the trees before reaching Nevermore Academy.
I run into the school, confused by the lack of panic and students. As I make my way up stairs, I hear growling through the wall towards the quad. I hasten my steps, finding a sword on a pedestal that I've walked past a million times before.
I quickly walk onto the balcony, looking over the quad that's filled with fire and smoke. My eyes find Crackstone fighting what appears to be the Hyde, but something looks different about it.
It looks as if it was drawn.
Crackstone blasts a magic projectile from his staff, the Hyde turning to dust at the impact. Soon after, another one appears through the door.
"Xavier." I mutter to myself, descending the staircase.
I hear a deafening silence as I enter the quad, graphite dust filling the air before hitting the ground. I watch on, waiting for another one to appear, but found no such luck.
I take a few steps into the grass, the flames around me reflecting off the sword. "Howdy, pilgrim."
Crackstone quickly turns around, shock on his face. "How canst thy heart still beat? What demon sorcery is this?"
"Stay away from her!" I turn to find Xavier with a fully drawn bow and arrow, pointed past me towards Crackstone.
He let's go of the bowstring, the arrow flying through the air.
As it rapidly approaches Crackstone, he holds out his hand, the arrow stopping in the air in front of him. He turns his fingers slowly, the arrow following the motion until it faces back towards Xavier. Suddenly, the arrow is flying back.
I instinctively stepped in front of the arrow, losing my breath at the impact. I recognize a lack of pain as the arrow hits the ground.
"No!" Xavier shouts, running towards me.
I feel a chain slip from around my neck, Goody's protection talisman falling to the ground, bouncing at the impact.
Xavier suddenly stops in place, a few steps away from me. "Wednesday?"
I turn towards him as I catch my breath. "I'll be fine."
I look down at the necklace resting in the grass, a part of the silver caving in.
"Goody's talisman." Crackstone states. "Foiling my mission yet again."
I bend over, picking up the necklace by the chain before wrapping it around my bare hand.
Suddenly, we hear students exclaim in fear as they watch from the end of the quad.
"Get them out of here." I demand, gripping the talisman tightly.
Xavier looks at me for a moment before running to the group of students, guiding them out of the quad.
Crackstone and I stand before each other, waiting for someone to make the first move.
I rush towards him, swinging my blade horizontally towards his chest. He blocks it with the end of the staff before attempting to hit me with it.
I evade his attack, making distance with a backhand spring.
He goes for an overhead swing, a spark emitting from it as it hits the ground. I take the opportunity to take another swing. He quickly raises his staff, blocking my attack yet again.
I find my arm moves past the staff, the blade breaking at the impact.
I take a step back, startled by how weak the sword was. He holds his staff towards me, suddenly feeling an immense magical energy push me into a broken table.
I have trouble finding air, as he holds his staff against me. He takes a few steps towards me, a crooked smile on his face. "I will send you back to hell."
The tip of the staff shifts from green to red, mere centimeters from my chest as he channels more arcane power.
Suddenly, a fragment of the broken blade stabs through his chest, causing him to release his hold on me.
After the blade is withdrawn, he turns to find Bianca. He motions his arm across her, sending her flying across the quad.
I slide down the broken table, grabbing another fragment of the blade with my hand that's wrapped with the chain of Goody's Talisman.
I stand before Crackstone as he turns towards me. It feels as if I lose control of where to aim, as if something else is guiding me to strike him in the heart.
He releases a groaning sound past the sizzling in his chest. I take my other hand to the blade, twisting it in his heart.
He takes a few steps back, the sound of a fire crackling from within chest. His chest begins to cave inwards, revealing a flame within, eating him from the inside out. The smoke escapes his final breath as explodes in a final wave of fire, dropping his ring onto the grass.
Bianca and I share eye contact, before I hear a footstep behind me.
I turn, my eyes filled with fear as Thornhill approaches, pointing Goody's wand at me. Stopping just before the grass.
"You brought a gun to a sword fight." I remark, hiding my fear. "It's probably the first smart decision you've made today."
"I might not get to kill all the outcasts, but at least I'll get to kill you, Wednesday."
She draws he wand back, preparing to cast a spell. Her face is full of malice before she utters the incantation.
"Avada-"
"Expelliarmus!"
Goody's wand flys out of Thornhill's grasp, landing on the grass. The wand rolling towards my feet.
Thornhill and I look to where the noise came from to find you. Your left arm is wrapped around Enid's shoulder, your wand still pointing at Thornhill's frame as your lips smile in relief. You stumble for a moment before regaining your footing.
I pick up the wand from the ground, pointing it at Thornhill. She scoffs. "Please Wednesday, you don't know anything about magic." She isn't scared by your presence, knowing your inability to kill and your weakened state.
I stare in Thornhill's eyes with a stoic face, my mind flashing to when she performed the torture curse on you. The incantation repeats itself in my mind, the memory forever vivid in my head.
My face contorts to an expression of anger before Thornhill reaches behind her, drawing out a pistol.
"Crucio!" I shout, the emotions from reliving the memory fill my voice.
She instantly screams in agony as she drops the pistol onto the ground. It looks as if an electric current is coursing through her veins as she draws her hands over her chest.
She falls over as I take a few steps closer, her body seizing on the ground under the curse.
"I think that's enough Wednesday." I faintly recognize Enid's voice past the trance I find myself in.
Thornhill continues to writh in agony, squirming on the floor as I approach ever closer.
"Wednesday!" The sound of your voice instantly clears my mind, cancelling the curse.
My expression returns to its normal stoic appearance as I lower my wand. I watch as Thornhill begins to sob on the floor.
"Stupefy!" I hear you shout another incantation, a red projectile finding a way onto Thornhill. Her sobs instantly stop as she goes unconscious, rolling at the impact of your spell.
I look towards you and Enid with a heartfelt expression as I start to approach.
You manage to break to Enid's grasp, attempting to run towards me with glossy eyes, before falling.
I hasten my next few steps as I catch you in my arms, hearing your quiet sobs as I hold you in my chest. Your hands grab me tightly, nails scratching at the fabric of my uniform.
You break away from my chest to look into my eyes, raw emotion written on you as you grab my face with both hands. "I was so scared that I was going to lose you again."
"I- I don't know what I would do without you." You say, breaking eye contact as tears stream down your face.
You drive your head into my chest as you throw your arms over my shoulders, your tears soaking into my dirty uniform.
I hold you tightly in the embrace, caressing your hair comfortingly. I feel the same emotions, hoping that my relief and love is felt through my arms, unable to find the words you found so easily.
I find myself in what use to be Wednesday, Enid, and I's shared dorm. The dorm feels empty without all their belongings littered around.
The school is going on break for the rest of the semester due to the incident and Principal Weems is letting me stay on campus. It's not like there's anywhere else for me to go.
I walk towards my side of the dorm, approaching the window. I step out onto the balcony, staring at the cars and students below me.
I hear the sound of the door opening behind me to find Wednesday standing at the entrance of the dorm, looking around before noticing me on the balcony.
Her stoic steps fill the dorm as she walks to the other side, meeting me on the balcony.
"Hey, Wednesday." I say, looking at her with a bittersweet smile. I look down to notice a box wrapped in black wrapping paper. "Is that for me?"
She nods, holding it out towards me.
I take the box gently out of her hands, looking into her eyes for a moment before unwrapping the present.
"With your birthday gift to me, you said don't take it romantically." She begins to say as I open the box, revealing a necklace with a vial of blood attached to it. Underneath the necklace is a folded piece of paper.
"That is a vial of my blood, the same gift you have given me." She says, looking into my eyes longingly. "There is one difference."
I look up from the gift towards her eyes. "I do mean this as a romantic gesture, An undying symbol of my feelings towards you, feeling that I have trouble expressing."
I put the necklace around my neck, putting the hook around the chain before grabbing the letter.
Wednesday puts her hand over mine, stopping me. "I want you to read this letter whenever you miss me. It's going to be rough not seeing you for the rest of the semester, but we'll make it through."
I close the lid of the box. "Like we always do."
Wednesday and I look longingly into each other's eyes for a few seconds that feel so long, yet not long enough. Sharing our emotions and feelings through the windows to our soul.
"Wednesday!" We both hear faintly beneath us to find Pugsley waving in the quad.
Wednesday looks down to the side. "I suppose it's time for me to leave."
I look at her for another moment, admiring all her features. "Maybe I can try to visit sometime."
Wednesday meets my eyes again, taking a step forward.
For the first time, Wednesday is the one initiating the our embrace, her arms holding me needily. I wrap my arms around her with the same emotion.
"I'm going to miss you Wednesday." I say, sinking my head into her shoulder.
Wednesday tightens her embrace, as if to say 'I'll miss you too.'
"It won't be too long till we meet again, hopefully next time we can talk and hangout like normal people instead of solving a murder case." I say with a smile.
Wednesday loosens her grip, taking a step back. "Where's the fun in that?" She says with a sly smile, heading towards the circular window.
"Goodbye Y/n." She says, before leaving the balcony.
"Goodbye Wednesday." I say with a bittersweet smile, already missing her presence.
I turn to the balcony, after a few minutes I see Wednesday's family hearse go past the gate of the school.
I glance at the box containing the rest of Wednesday's gift. I life the lid of the present again, opening the letter found inside.
Dear Y/n,
Knowing you, you're likely reading this immediately after I left.
I noticed you discovered the same truth I have. Our souls are perpetually tied together by an unbreakable string. This string will forever bind us, guiding us to each other even if death attempts to due us part.
Do you recall on Outreach Day when I had a vision? I may not have told you everything I saw. In that vision I was met with Goody and Elsie, two names you know by now.
I witnessed the moment our souls permanently become interconnected, moments before Elsie's death. Before she perished, she performed a spell with a string with Goody. It's strange how a measly string can be so strong.
To be honest, I was anxious that if I told you what I saw it'd scare you away. How naive of me. I can't believe how you changed me. I use to be so independent and pleasantly lonely until you came along. I never thought I'd be the type of person willing to sacrifice the world for someone else, someone who I managed to find so much importance in.
I know you don't have the same introverted traits I do, but I hope you'd do the same for me.
Xavier gave me a phone today. He so boldly left his number inside as well. Now if I may be so bold, I leave my new phone number with this letter.
May our paths connect once again soon,
Wednesday Addams.
A smile creeps up onto my face, pulling out my phone to add the number to my contacts.
I stare over the balcony, holding the necklace in my hand with thoughts of Wednesday. I watch the hearse just before it escapes my view.
"Don't wake me, I'm not dreamin'."
"Don't wake me, I'm not dreamin'."
Past Lives Masterlist
a/n: thank you to everyone who read and stuck through my first long fic. A majority of the new main plot points in this were ideas I've had brewing for months, but felt I was too unskilled to write. I hope all the ideas connected together well :))
(the last two lines are just lyrics from the song that inspired this fic, they don't mean anything)
Summary: You and Wednesday try to prevent the Hyde from stealing the mayor's body.
Warning: Descriptions of blood and injury, specifically cut injuries
I find myself staring out my window, the pitter patter of raindrops being the only sound besides my thoughts.
Wednesday told me the mayor was investigating the Gates Mansion yesterday when she was there. He was on the way to tell the sheriff something before he was hit by a car.
Of course, someone discovers too much and they get killed.
My thoughts are interrupted by Wednesday opening the door. "Hey Wednesday, the funeral was faster than I imagined."
Wednesday puts her umbrella up before looking back at me. "Whenever the dirt hits the coffin I'm gone."
Wednesday takes a few steps towards me. "Tonight we'll stake his grave. They will pay for what they did to Eugene."
I find myself dazed under her statement, my heart rate accelerating at the thought of having to use the death curse on anyone or anything. I push back my anxiety, forcing a nod in response.
"We need to talk about the books they stole from us Wednesday."
Wednesday is silent for a moment. "What is there to talk about?"
I sigh, a bit of my stress carried in my air. "More specifically, the book of curses. If they can perform magic we're in serious danger with that book. That is if they haven't memorized some of the spells from it already."
"We'll deal with this before it's an issue." Wednesday states, naively. "What spells should we look out for from the book?"
I sigh again, looking at the ground. "First there's the spell you told me study, the death curse. That one's kinda self explanatory."
I look up to find Wednesday's eager eyes on me, thirsty for more information. "Next one is the imperious curse, it makes the caster in total control of whomever the spell was cast upon. Some times, if the will power of the castee is strong enough they can fight back the curse. Which is where this last curse comes in."
I'm silent for a moment, the anxiety of the power the enemy now holds settling in further. "Lastly, the torture curse. This one is also self explanatory, it causes an excruciating pain all over the castee. It's also used on people under the imperious curse to attempt to destroy their will."
Wednesday looks to the side, letting the information sink into her brain. Her eyes soon find mine again. "We won't give them a chance to perform these spells."
She looks at me with confidence and reassurance in her eyes. "Tonight, we'll end this."
I look down from Wednesday's eyes to find the necklace I gave her around her neck.
"There's someone else we have to deal with before tonight." I say, meeting her eyes again.
The sun is beginning to go beyond the horizon. My fist meets the wood on Xavier's door, soon met by Xavier on the other side.
"Hey Y/n, what's up?" Xavier gives me a slightly anxious look.
"Hey, uh. Can I come in?"
He stares dumbfounded for a minute. "Oh, yeah! Sure." Xavier takes a step back, giving me space to walk past him before closing the door. "Did you think about my apology?"
I'm silent for a moment, finding a seat on Xavier's bed. "I haven't come to a conclusion yet." My eyes meet Xavier's.
"So, why'd you come here then?"
I take a deep breath. "Wednesday and I want to ask you a couple questions about your latest vision."
Xavier looks to the ground for a moment. "I uh, yeah I can do that. Where's Wednesday?"
"We want to discuss it at your art studio if that's alright" I ask, my voice shaky.
Xavier examines my state for a moment. "Are you okay?"
I quickly nod. "I've just been anxious about why I've been banned from leaving the school." I lie through my teeth. "Wednesday is waiting for us at your art studio."
Xavier examines me one more time, his eyes looking me up and down. "Shouldn't keep her waiting I guess."
Xavier opens the door to his art studio to find Wednesday set up a chair and cooler full of a random assortment of snacks and drinks.
Xavier quickly turns around, confusion in his voice. "Y/n whats-"
"I'm sorry, Xavier." I pull out my wand, pointing it at him. "Stupefy."
A red light emits from my wand, the projectile hitting Xavier in the torso. He falls backwards in the art studio unconscious.
I sigh while putting the wand away. "Let's get this over with."
Wednesday and I struggle to drag his lanky body fully inside the art studio, leaving the light on as we lock him inside.
Wednesday and I are hiding behind two different tombstones. I look at my watch, reading the time is 12:30. My heart rates accelerates as the time comes closer, having lost slight control of my breathing.
The chirping of crickets fill the air, soon gone silent in the presence of vicious footsteps entering the cemetery.
Wednesday looks at me expectingly. I stand, my legs shaking as I reach for my wand with a trembling hand.
I'm a good 20-30 feet behind the Hyde, it's already digging in front of the mayor's fresh grave. It flings the dirt behind him, landing near my feet. The fog met with the light of the full moon creates an ominous atmosphere.
I point my wand at it, unable to keep my wand steady.
I go to shout at it, my voice restricting itself along with my airway.
More dirt flies by my feet, soon followed by Wednesday's voice. "What are you doing?!"
The sound of scratching on wood fills the air. The Hyde turns around to find me standing there, pointing my trembling wand at him.
My vision starts to get blurry as my eyes become glossy. Why can't I do it? "I- I-" My voice is trembling with anxiety.
"A- avada. A-a-" I find the incantation impossible to utter, a tear streaming down my face.
The Hyde starts to ignore me, the cracking of wood filling the chilled air as it breaks through the casket.
"Y/n! Do it!" I hear Wednesday shout, muffled by my thoughts.
The Hyde pulls the mayor's body from the grave, looking at me one more time before turning away to run. The sound of his footsteps fading as the crickets return.
I tightly grasp my wand in both of my hands, bringing it close to my chest, feeling the anxious beat of my heart worsen. "I couldn't do it." I utter quietly to myself, looking at the now comfortable looking ground.
Wednesday quickly stands, running to me. "Y/n what happened."
Her steps slow down as I drop down to my knees, my sobs taking dominance over the chirping of the crickets.
"Y/n?" Wednesday asks in a worried tone.
"I couldn't do it." I say between sobs, the tears meeting at my chin before dripping to find my trembling hands. "It hurt so many people, and I couldn't do it."
Wednesday is silent for a moment, finding her way in front of me. She's looking down upon me. "I'm sorry Y/n, I shouldn't have ask-"
"Why couldn't I do it?!" I my neck straining from suddenly looking up to see her face, my voice trembling between the sobs. "Why, I don't-" I find myself lost for words.
Wednesday kneels before me, putting her hands on my clenched ones. She slowly pulls my hands away from my chest, resting them on my legs. "Do you remember when we first met?"
I find myself silent, returning to reality at the sound of Wednesday's stoic yet comforting voice. "You healed a small cut on my forehead, even though you never met me."
Wednesday gently prys at my tightened grip around my wand, starting with my index finger. "And then in the woods, when you saved Eugene's life."
My brain remembers that night vividly at the mention of him. Wednesday is now prying at my ring and pinky fingers.
"If it wasn't for you, he likely would have died." The sound of my wand landing on the dirt reaches my ears, as Wednesday loosened my grip.
Wednesday stares at my red hands, tense from gripping the wand so tightly. "It's your hands, they're not meant to kill."
I find the tears rekindling, my red puffy eyes tensely closing.
"They're meant to give life. I'm sorry I asked you to do this"
I find the sobs uncontrollable, practically shouting into the wind as Wednesday grabs my hands. I throw my head into her chest, met with her arms moving to hold me comfortingly.
I wake up on the ground of my art studio, my head throbbing. I sit up, resting my head on my hand. "Ugh, what the."
I soon stand, wobbling back and forth trying to restabilize my footing. I nearly fall as I approach the door, finding it locked on the other side.
"You can't be serious." I utter to myself, pulling my phone out. I scroll through my contacts before finding Bianca. I stare at the icon I set of her for a second before calling.
"What do you want?" I'm instantly greeted with Bianca's remark.
I take a deep breath. "Y/n snuck out."
"What?! Where to?!" Bianca asks, worried about how Weems is going to act.
I find myself staring at the painting. "I have an idea. I think we should tell Weems, she'll know what-"
"I think you're insane." Bianca overly announces the I. "If she knows we failed, she'll personally disband the Nightshades."
"I think whatever reason Weems is trying to keep Y/n on school grounds is probably more important than our roof parties and virgin drinks." I state sarcastically.
Bianca takes a deep breath, pausing for a moment. "Where are you now?"
I hold Y/n close, her tears running dry. "Are you ready?"
You nod, grabbing your wand off the ground before standing.
"I hope I'm not interrupting your date."
Y/n and I turn towards the voice to find Tyler at the entrance of the cemetery. You rub your eyes in an attempt to wipe any forgotten tears.
I see an opportunity to make something useful out of tonight. "Tyler, we need you to take us to the Gate's Mansion."
I find you standing next to me with a new found courage at my words.
Tyler looks at us for a moment, biting his tongue as he weighs his options. He sighs. "That wasn't really a request was it?"
We start to walk towards him till we're a few feet in front of him. "Where's your car?"
The engine cuts off, parking in front of the Gate's Mansion.
We all get out of the car simultaneously, approaching the garage door.
You pulled out your wand, making a circular motion with your wrist as you point it at the doorknob. "Alohamora."
You went to turn the knob, met with rattling. "It's stuck."
I approach from behind, You give me space as I try to force the door open. The door doesn't budge.
"Let me try." Tyler states, before shaking the door with full force. Still nothing.
"We'll probably have to find a different way in." He says, as you pull your wand back out.
"Step back." You point your wand at the door as we follow your demand.
"Bombarda!" You shout, met with a loud explosion on the door, forcing it open. You walk inside with Tyler and I following behind you.
I take the tarp off the car in the garage. "This is the car that hit the mayor." I state flatly.
"This just took a dark turn." Tyler says, looking between both of us for a moment. "I didn't sign up for this."
"Feel free to wait in the car." I state, before heading to the door that leads inside the house.
You have your wand emitting a light from the end to light the hallway. The house is decorated with cobwebs and dust, the only other light being the pale moonlight of the full moon through the dirty windows. "This is the night I'm gonna die." Tyler says as we find our way to our first room to investigate.
We end up in the study. The room lacks any windows and is decorated with animal head mounts on the walls, cobwebs between the antlers of the deer heads.
I find my way to the bookshelf, inspecting every inch under my flashlight for any sign of disturbance over the dust. I point the flashlight up to notice a square design at the top of the bookshelf is clean.
I push the design, it caves inward with the sound of gears shifting. The noise of wood scratching against the floor fills the room as a hidden door is opened.
Behind the bookshelf reveals a shrine dedicated to Joseph Crackstone. Next to the painting of him it says in red text on the wall.
THE MOON WILL BLEED
WHEN I RISE
Y/n and I make eye contact for a moment with Tyler behind us. "Who doesn't have a family alter in their study?" Tyler says sarcastically.
"Ours is in the living room." I say before touching the wick of a candle. "It's still warm."
I find a necklace in front of the painting. I grab it, instantly met with the feeling of electricity coursing through my veins. You catch me as I fall back, entering a vision.
I find myself on the soft grass within an old cemetery. The full moon lighting the scene. There are people in pilgrim attire and masks surrounding a casket with some sort of runic marks on the floor surrounding it.
I look to the side to find Elsie hanging on a hook by the rope tied around her wrists. Her white hair flowing in the wind.
The figures start to place jars of body parts on top of the runic symbols until all the runic marks are covered.
"Draw her blood." One of the masked figures state. Another one unsheathes a dagger before approaching Elsie's vulnerable figure.
"Please don't-" I hear her cries, unable to do anything. The man grabs her legs, sliding a big cut across it. Her blood streaks down her leg, staining her clothes.
"Stop, please!" Elsie cries through her winces of pain.
He lifts the dagger, before starting another cut down her other leg.
She releases a bloodcurdling scream, unable to contain her pain anymore. Crows flock at the sudden exclamation.
One of the figures grabs a cloth, wrapping it around her mouth muzzling her. "It'll be easier if you bite." He says.
The man with the dagger has now given her multiple cuts on her legs, the blood pooling to her bare feet. The blood trickles to a bucket beneath her.
He draws the dagger to her arms next, gliding the dagger across her skin. Elsie's screams of pain are muffled by the cloth in her mouth, drenched in her saliva.
After cutting on both arms equally, the blood staining her white bed dress, he leaves one more cut on her arm as the pale light of the moon shifts into an ominous deep red.
The light illuminates the foggy graveyard, giving everything a blood red glow. The runic symbols begin to glow a pale blue, contrasting the moon. All the figures stand around the casket as a black fog emanates from it.
It suddenly makes sense to me why Weems wanted to keep you protected on school grounds. Fear fills my body as the vision continues.
Goody runs into the graveyard, quickly but quietly approaching Elsie. She grabs her by the waist, lifting the rope tied around her wrists off the hook, causing Elsie to collapse onto her as Goody struggles to run under her weight.
Goody runs past me, carrying Elsie over her shoulder, her blood staining Goody's clothes. I look back to the casket to see a figure I recognize on the other side of the fog. If the Hyde and their master succeed, it won't be Joseph's first time coming back from the dead.
I soon turn around to follow Goody and Elsie. After a few minutes of running they go inside a building, placing her on a bed.
Goody pulls out her wand, interrupted by Elsie holding out a necklace. Her blood trickles down the chain. "I- I want you to take this." Goody slowly grabs the necklace by the talisman attached to it, the chain slipping out of Elsie's grasp.
The talisman is decorated with black tourmaline against the silver of the rest of the talisman. A shield is inscribed in the reflective metal.
"It is a protection talisman, enchanted and given to me by my parents." Elsie says, her voice strained from her screams. Goody holds the talisman tightly in her hand before putting it over her head. She hovers her wand over the edge of one of Elsie's wounds, guiding her wand across it.
I open my eyes to the carpet of the study in the Gates Mansion. I quickly stand. "We need to leave." I look around only to find Tyler in the room.
"Where's Y/n?" I ask, fear in my voice. I put the Elsie's protection talisman around my neck.
"She went to investigate the rest of the house." He says calmly, in contrast to my panicked state.
I rush outside of the confined room to find the pale moonlight from before replaced with the harsh deep red I saw in my vision. I rush to the window to confirm what I'm seeing, finding the moon to be an unnatural red.
I turn my head to the noise of an engine of a car turning on from the garage. "Wednesday what's going on?" I hear Tyler frantically follow me.
"Y/n's in danger." I state flatly, trying to control my emotions.
I run outside, slamming the door open, to find the blue car that hit the mayor screeching past the gate of the mansion.
My eyes are stuck on the silhouette of the car as it makes more distance.
Tyler runs past me to his car, stopping in front of the driver seat. "Are we following them or not?"
His voice brings me out of my daze, running to go into the passenger seat. The sound of Tyler's engine fills the car as he twists the ignition.
His wheels kick up dirt as Tyler presses on the gas. After the car stabilizes, we quickly catch up to the blue car.
Fear and worry find shelter in my eyes as I stare at the car in front of us, reflecting the ominous light drawn from the blood moon.
Part 11.
Past Lives Masterlist
a/n: hoho things are happening. one of the moments in this part is heavily inspired off of Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. Idk if it's just me, but my writing feels kinda off in this part? I can't place it, so sorry if the writing is weird.
Summary: You and Enid try to celebrate Wednesday's birthday when more happens than you expected.
The sound of pages turning filled our shared dorm. The sun lingering at the horizon casting the only light, illuminating our dorm. Wednesday and I are investigating Codex Umbrarüm and the aged journal. We decided that I should investigate the dark covered book because of my experience with magic.
It turns out the leather journal is someone's documentations of different types of outcasts, most of which I haven't even heard of before.
"Y/n." Wednesday's voice finds it way to her bed which I am laying in. My head perks up from the book. "I found something."
I find my way to my feet before standing next to Wednesday's desk, looking over her shoulder. There are illustrations depicting the monster we've been hunting, calling it a 'Hyde.'
"Hydes are artists by nature, but equally vindictive in temperament. Born of mutation, the Hyde lays dormant until unleashed by a traumatic event or unlocked through chemical inducement or hypnosis. This causes the Hyde to develop an immediate bond with it liberator, who the creatures now sees as it's master." Wednesday turns to look at me.
"That means we're not looking for one killer, but two." I say, interrupted by the school intercom.
"Y/n Y/l/n, to the principal's office."
I look up towards the ceiling listening, before meeting my gaze back at Wednesday. "I guess I'll be right back?"
The sound of my footsteps on the cobblestone floor fill the empty hallway. I find myself in front of the door to Principal Weems office. I hesitate for a moment, taking a deep breath before opening the door.
"Ah Y/n, for a moment I was starting to think you got lost." Weems says with a smile before motioning her hand towards a chair in front of her desk. "Have a seat."
"Is everything okay?" I instinctively ask.
"You're not in trouble or anything of the sort. We just need to take a few, precautions for the moment."
"What do you mean precautions?" I raise an eyebrow, while sitting down.
Weems smile fades, her expression changing to a serious one. "I'm requesting that you don't leave campus until further notice."
"What? why?! Am I in danger?" I ask, fear suddenly finding it way into my voice.
"No, no. It's merely a precaution." Weems states, waving her hand in the air. She is clearly lying, why else would I not be allowed off campus?
I sit in silence, thinking about possibilities for this sudden change. "Is it because of the message last night?"
Weems shakes her head. "It's nothing of the sort, and nothing that concerns you."
I assume she's lying again. "What does that message have to do with me?"
Weems stares at me for a moment before releasing a sigh. "You may go back to your dorm now Ms. Y/l/n." Her hand motions towards the door.
I stand, giving up on trying to break through Weems stubborn walls. "Have a nice night Principal Weems." I say before leaving her office.
I walk back into our dorm to find Wednesday setting up candles in a circle in the center of the dorm.
"Are we conducting a seance now?" I ask half joking.
Wednesday turns her head to face me. "Yes." She states before focusing back on the candles. "We're going to try to communicate with Goody and Elsie."
I take a few more steps into the dorm before stopping. "Who's Elsie?"
Wednesday is silent for a moment, her hand stops in the air holding a candle. "Someone else I saw in a vision."
Wednesday stands after placing the final candle. "Why were you called to Weems?"
I sigh, almost already forgetting the new rule that has been forced upon me. "Principal Weems has 'requested' that I stay on campus until further notice. Saying it's some sort precaution or something."
"Why?" Wednesday asks.
I shrug my shoulders. "I asked the same thing, she wouldn't give me an answer."
Wednesday is silent for a moment, the gears in her head shifting. "Can you help me light the candles?"
The room is now only illuminated by the warm candles and the pale moonlight. Wednesday and I are sitting in front of some sort of alter facing towards each other. Wednesday has the name Goody in front of her and Elsie in front of me.
Wednesday is holding some sort of jewelry above the alter while muttering words I can't hear. I don't exactly know what's happening. I never really had a reason to try to communicate with spirits.
Suddenly the door opens, revealing a gust of wind. The wind blows out the candles ominously, the only light now being the cool colored light of the moon. I look past Wednesday as she turns around to look at the door. A silhouette appears holding a grocery bag, unable to see their face past the light behind them.
The silhouette takes a step forward to reveal our colorful roommate, Enid. Wednesday turns around, releasing an annoyed sigh.
"Sorry." Enid says before turning the light on. "I didn't mean to interrupt your... uh, do I even want to know?"
Wednesday stands, turning to face Enid. "I was reaching into the black maw of death to contact a relative."
Wednesday takes a step over the candles, approaching Enid before looking at the ritual we set up. "Feels very on brand for you. You have a relative named Goody?"
"She was one of the original outcasts." Wednesday crosses her arms. "Been attempting to summon her, but she seems to be ignoring my entreaties."
"Who's Elsie?" Enid asks as I stand up to be besides Wednesday.
"She's Goody's... friend." Wednesday says, implying something more with the pause.
Enid's face lights up for a moment. "Oh, you thought about using one of my scented candles? The aroma of steak tartare is to die for."
I scrunch up my nose at the idea that scent. "Speaking of candles." I gesture at the grocery bag Enid is holding.
"Oh right!" Enid digs into the bag to reveal a chocolate cake and some candles from the grocery store. "They're not anything impressive, but its something."
I look to Wednesday to see her tense up a bit. "I know you said no parties, so this isn't a party. Just us, nothing big." I try to comfort her.
She looks to me, giving a small uncertain nod.
Enid already has all the candles on the cake by the end of our short discussion.
"If you sing don't be surprised if you're both greeted with a knife to the throat."
I wave my hand across the candles, the wicks lighting. "No singing, got it." I feel Enid's fearful eyes on me.
Enid and I both look at Wednesday expectingly as the wax from the candles start to drip.
"You gonna blow out the candles or what?" Enid says jokingly with a smile.
Wednesday looks between the both of us before breaking her perfect posture for a moment to blow out the candles.
It's kinda cute to see her do more child-like act.
Enid quickly runs to her section of the dorm room after forcing the cake into my hands. She grabs a present wrapped in a dark gift wrapping, excitedly running back. She forces the gift into Wednesday's hands.
Wednesday's gaze softens for a moment, making eye contact with her before opening the gift. Wednesday lifts up the snood as if it's carrying a disease while she inspects it.
"Well, do you like it?" Enid asks, Wednesday's eye contact breaking from the snood. "What is it exactly?"
"It's a snood, silly. I made it in your signature colors. And you want to know what the best part is?" Enid pulls out a colorful snood, holding it in the air with excitement. "I've got one too!"
I take a look at Wednesday's face. It appears as if she's dazed from the idea of matching anything with our colorful roommate.
"We can wear them together to class." Enid says, wrapping her snood around her neck.
'Oh, Enid, this is far too unique to wear to something like class. I suggest we wait for a more special occasion." Wednesday states, Enid nods eagerly.
"Like a funeral."
Enid holds onto her snood around her neck defensively. "Oh." She has an emotion written on her face, but I can't exactly place it. Maybe disgust?
The silence fills the room for a moment.
"I guess it's my turn." I say, heading to my side of the room to grab a small present box decorated in black with dark red accents.
I head back towards Wednesday, finding her soft gentle gaze upon me. I hold the gift out to her. "Try not to see it as a romantic gesture. See it as... a sign of my loyalty."
Wednesday glances at me one more time before taking the lid off the present, revealing a necklace decorated with a vial of blood. My blood.
Wednesday grabs it by the silver colored chain, lifting it into the air. She admires the necklace for a moment before her fingertips touch the vial.
The moment her fingertips touch the vial her head flys back, her grip around the necklace tightens as she enters a vision.
"Wednesday!" Enid shouts as I instinctively grab her.
I open my eyes to find myself on the carpet of a bedroom. There's something different about this vision, it feels as if my body's atoms are trying to tear a part from each other.
I manage to stand. I find the room has a similar affect as well, as if it's corrupted or not supposed to exist. I turn to find someone tied to a chair, their face contorted and unrecognizable due to the corrupted nature of the vision.
I assume this person is you, mostly due to the white hair and that the vision was triggered by your gift.
"About time you woke up." A voice reaches from behind me, also corrupted and unrecognizable. I turn to find yet another distorted figure. Judging by their height and build it is a woman. She's twirling a wand at her fingertips.
"I thought you were a normie." You say in a haze to the figure.
"Goody was quite the remarkable witch, she managed to create a wand that allows anyone to perform magic." She slows her steps intimidatingly as she gets closer. "I can't believe you of all people caught me in that cave."
"What the hell were you doing to-" You ask loudly, anxiety lacing your voice.
The figure's steps hasten, holding the wand across your lips to silence you. "Watch you're tone, or I'll do worse than wipe your memory."
I can sense a new found fear rise in you at your silence.
"That's better." She said, removing the wand from your lips.
"Where are we?" You ask in a much quieter tone.
The person takes a step back, silent for a moment. "We're at my house, the Gates Mansion."
I can sense a new found fear reside inside you. "Are you going to kill me?" Your voice shakes, it hurts to witness you so afraid. "I assume I know too much."
"Oh no, no no." She shakes her head. "You're an important part of my plan Y/n." She puts the wand under your chin, tilting your head up towards her face. "But I can't exactly have you telling everyone about what you saw."
She takes a step back. "But that won't be a problem." She points the wand at your face.
"Obliviate!"
A green light emits loudly at the end of her wand, the vision evaporating into nothing.
I hear Wednesday's quilt shuffle as she sits up. I quickly stand from her reading chair, bags under my eyes.
"Wednesday, are you okay?" I quickly approach her bedside.
The necklace I gave her is still tight in her grip. "The Gates Mansion." She says quietly.
"What?" I say, confusion laced in my voice
Wednesday's eyes meet mine. "The next place we need to investigate is the Gates Mansion."
She stands, heading to her boots by the door.
"Wends where are you going?" I put my arms out in confusion.
"I just told you, the Gates Mansion." She glances at me while zipping up the side of the boot.
"Wednesday, it's like 4 am."
Her movements stop, taking a second to look at my tired state. "I was out for that long?"
I nod to her worried, she looks at me for a moment before breaking eye contact.
The smell of burnt grass fills my nostrils as Wednesday and I investigate the writing out on Nevermore's lawn.
"What you guys think it means?" Xavier says, sneaking up on us.
I take a deep breath. "I didn't know we were back on speaking terms."
"Why'd you suddenly stop talking to me?" Xavier turns to me, I glance at him for a moment before looking back at the writing on the floor.
"I didn't really like what you asked Bianca to do."
Xavier is silent for a moment, turning back to the writing on the floor. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked her to do that. It was out of character of me."
I remain silent, deciding if I should accept his apology or not.
Xavier looks around for a moment. "I do have something you might want to see though."
I look back at him, piquing my interest. "What is it?"
"It'll be best if I show you, it's in my art studio. Just stop by some time today. I promise it'll be helpful." Xavier says before turning around to leave.
I look towards Wednesday to find her eyes on mine. "What's the plan for today? I don't think I'll be able to get out of the school easily during the day."
Wednesday is silent for a moment. "I'll go investigate the Gate's Mansion, while you go see what information Xavier might have for us."
I nod, Wednesday quickly turns around heading towards the school exit.
I run towards where Xavier left. "Xavier!"
He turns around, finding his eyes on me. "What's up?"
"Do you have time right now?"
Our footsteps crunch the leaves beneath us as we approach the shed. "So, I had a vision in my dreams. It was the monster digging in front of a grave of-" He looks side to side for a moment, as if he's checking to see is anyone is eavesdropping. "It'll be better if you see it yourself."
He unlocks the door to the studio, opening the door for me to enter first. In the center of the room is a painting covered in a tarp.
Xavier approaches the tarp, looking at me worriedly, before revealing the painting.
The painting depicted the Hyde digging in front of a grave in the middle of the night. In the background reveals a clock tower with the time '12:37' on it. The name on the tombstone is 'Noble Walker'.
My eyes open in bewilderment. "Holy shit, is that the mayor?"
Xavier shushes me, putting a finger over my mouth. "Yes it's the mayor." He whispers.
I stare at the painting depicting the future for a moment. I find my eyes drawn to the clock. "Is the time accurate?"
"What?" Xavier asks.
"The time on the clocktower, is that time accurate to this event." I find myself getting progressively louder.
Xavier nods. "Yeah, it kept showing up for some reason in the vision."
I look at the painting in silence for another moment. "I gotta go." I turn to head to the door.
Xavier turns to face me "Go where?!"
"I gotta go tell Wednesday." I open the door with too much force as I leave.
Xavier follows behind me. "But you're not allowed off school campus."
I suddenly stop in place. The gears turning in my head a moment before turning around to see Xavier. "How'd you know that?"
Xavier looks to the side with an exhale. "Look, Weems told the Nightshades to not let you off campus."
"What?!" I ask, more confused than before. "Why?"
Xavier shrugs. "I'm not sure, we didn't ask. But, I can't let you off the school grounds. Sorry Y/n."
I turn around again with a sigh, surprised to see Bianca approaching me. She looks at Xavier for a moment before looking back at me, holding out her hand expectingly. "I need those books back Y/n."
My eyes go wide at the realization. "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to take them out of your sight I swear."
Bianca looks at me annoyed. "Y/n, the books."
I look back towards Xavier for a moment. "They're in my dorm, you can come with me if you want. I was just on my way to my cell of a room."
I open the door to my dorm to find the furniture all skewed about, papers and pencils decorate the floor, and the drawers to our desks all haphazardly opened.
"Holy shit." I hear Bianca state behind me as my eyes go wide in bewilderment.
I run to the spot we were keeping the two books. "No no no!" Panic lacing my voice as I rummage through the drawer to be certain before turning to Bianca.
"They're gone."
I hear Bianca release an annoyed sigh.
I turn more to face my desk. I slowly approach it to find that the book of curses Wednesday gave me to study the death curse from has also vanished.
