hey hi hello!

so my wedding is on the 28th and I am SO SWAMPED RN like seriously I haven’t even been able to get online until today because life went crazy busy on me. I will try to get to some replies but they’ll be random and sporadic and I honestly have no idea how many will get done in the near future.

I should be back from the honeymoon and ready to get back to rp’ing on June 7th if my new place actually has the wifi set up like it should

“You didn’t even need my help, which is great, ‘cause I love doing absolutely nothing.”

Roxas blinked. Then blinked again. Riku’s response hadn’t been at all what he’d expected and now he wasn’t sure what to say or do. His arms lowered slightly, and he felt his face screw up in thought. Roxas thought there’d be a fight, maybe some screaming or a physical attack. Logically, Roxas knew Riku no longer had any reason to attack him, but it was hard to shake the image of the hooded stranger stopping him in that alley so many months ago. 

Seeing Riku like this, though... it made Roxas almost feel guilty. 

He carefully kept his expression blank, only his standard slight frown on to hide his thoughts. It made sense, but he’d never thought about why he could dual wield before. He definitely never thought it had something to do with Sora.

Involuntarily he took a step toward Riku when the other turned away from him. “Sora can’t use the darkness.” He blurted the words out without a thought, wincing and immediately wishing he could take them back. But he’d said them loudly and he knew Riku had heard him, so he took a deep breath and pushed on. “When I was a Nobody I could use it easily. Now that I’m whole I have no idea how to tap into it anymore.” 

More than anything, Roxas didn’t want to have to straight out ask Riku for help. In all honesty, he could probably go to Lea for this as well, but his conscious was nudging at him, forcing him to not just let Riku walk away like this. He kept his gaze determinedly on his board, refusing to look up and see what sort of expression Riku might give him for his outburst.

He laughed. “Yeah, the ice cream thing was the best thing we had going,” he agrees. “It was my favorite part. Just us every day on the clock tower…at the risk of sounding like a total doofus once again, it really made me feel like I had a heart, those times.” He’d said it before, but…never to Roxas’s face. It felt almost necessary.

He pauses, and sighs, smile growing a little bittersweet. “Yeah, you and the girls were the most deserving,” he agrees. “You three were all special…like I said, you made me remember what it was like to be human. I think I wasn’t the only one who felt that way. You were special, and…the Organization wasn’t the place for any of you. I’m glad you’re here now.” Him, though? Lea knew Axel hadn’t really deserved a heart as much as the kids had. Axel had been…he hadn’t been very worth it. But Lea was back, and he’d prove he deserved the heart eventually.

He blinks, and red creeps into his cheeks. “I– aw, Roxas…” He tugs the boy into a hug. “You’re my best bud, you know that.” He really didn’t want to tell him that he would have died anyway, helping Sora or not, though. That didn’t need to be revealed. Nope. He laughs, standing and offering a hand up. “Well, we need to fix that, don’t we?” He says, raising his eyebrows. “Let’s go get some ice cream to celebrate your return, yeah?”

Roxas gave a soft laugh, smiling fondly up at his best friend.  “I... think you’ve said that before?” He shook his head, unable to fully recall the memory. “You do sound like a complete doofus... but I agree. I don’t think I would have figured out who I was without you and Xion. I would have just stayed a mindless puppet for Xenmas.” He scrunched his face up in displeasure at the thought of that. 

He frowned harder, something about Lea’s words hitting him wrong. Roxas blinked a few times, running his sentences over in his head a few more times. “Why do you keep saying it like that? Lea... you might not have been as directly connected to Sora’s heart... but you were special, too. You didn’t have to get me ice cream. Or answer all my stupid questions. Or fight to keep us all together and safe, especially as many times as you did.” He reached out and grabbed Lea’s arm, staring up at him intently in the hopes that he understood just how much Roxas meant his words. “You deserved to be whole, too, Lea.” 

Roxas let out a squawk, his blush getting worse, though quickly returned the hug. He let out a groan and hid his face. “I... I know that now. But at the time it just... seemed like a good reaction.” After a minute he looked up at Lea, the blush fading the bigger his smile got. Letting out a whoop, he turned and starter running out of the room right away. “Hurry up, Lea!”

When Roxas went in aggressively, Riku just hunched his shoulders, and then readjusted his gloves, trying hard not to care too much about this.

This was a business arrangement, not a marriage proposal. It’d been drilled into his head since he’d been told about this proposed marriage to join both of their houses, but it didn’t make him any less uneasy. He and Roxas had never seen eye to eye…

And now that they were gonna be married, it was going to be even more precarious.

“Most people do, but I couldn’t care less,” he stated simply, with a quiet scoff. “I’m just the second son, it’s not like it helps me any, since all I’m used for is a bargaining chip.”

Roxas ran a hand through his hair, tugging on it in agitation. He didn’t like Riku, the two of them didn’t have the greatest meeting and Roxas was, sometimes, maybe a little bit stubborn about holding grudges. That had been years ago, and the two had never made up.

But if Riku wasn’t a stuck up jerk like he’d originally thought... well, maybe the next few years wouldn’t be quite as terrible as he expected. Plus, Riku was also the disposable child, he understood in a way that Roxas’ brother and most of their friends never could. 

“My parent’s don’t care if we’re happy, they just want the money and benefits. It’s great, right?” He muttered, hating the thought of getting along with Riku, but desperately wanting to talk to someone about this. If he and Riku were equally upset about the arrangement, surely they could do something to stop it, right?

“Roxas, darling,” he crooned sarcastically, “I am a huge dick. That is unforgettable personality trait number one, second being that I am in fact unforgettable.” Axel made his point with wild hand gestures, accentuating each number with a finger held up. 

“You know, you could be right about that air, maybe it is me…” he trailed off, shooting Roxas a smirk. “Is my presence making it hard to breath? Maybe giving you a few butterflies in your stomach? I should have apologized ahead of time, the charm is just irresistible, I know,” he winked. It probably wasn’t the best idea to flirt so narcissisticly once he pissed Roxas off, but Axel never said he was one for having good ideas. If anything, unforgettable personality trait number three would have been his knack for having a bad idea, knowing it was a bad idea, and charging head first into doing it.

Roxas bristled at the pet name, his hands tightening on his board as he resisted the urge to punch the guy in his, admittedly pretty, face. “I will have no problem forgetting you after this. In fact, it’ll be super easy.” He said, completely lying. Even without the striking eyes and hair, the guy had already pushed too many of Roxas’ buttons for him to stop being pissed anytime soon. 

“What?!” Rox sputtered for a second, trying to think up a witty retort. “You... no! That’s not it at all! You’re a dick, and freakishly tall, and have weird hair.” He crossed his arms and frowned, a slight blush spreading across his cheeks. “You know what? I bet we have met before and I just chose to forget about you because you’re annoying.” He was absolutely not pouting, Roxas was a mature adult and no matter what Olette said, he didn’t pout. 

But he also wasn’t walking away yet. Roxas wasn’t sure why, but as irritating as Axel was, Roxas was also amused. Not that he’d ever admit it, of course.

He didn’t neglect the question, and answered it honestly. She should know better, Roxas always cared about his friends. Swaying returning a shoulder bump back.  ❝ Interesting, I guess that ice cream has magic of it’s own.❞ She thought about Axel. Even Axel saw Roxas as a true friend, and would do anything for him.  ❝ I’m glad Axel was there for you then. ❞

She noticed the slight change in his expression. Was it sad that life she lived with Diz? She thought of it as a much kinder fate then what could of happen. Though she might not have agreed with his ideas. Especially to how he treated Roxas. Diz wasn’t good, but certainly wasn’t evil. Namine saw a sly smirk form across Roxas’ expression. She laughed at his comment.  ❝ I’m not surprised, you are a bit of a rebel Roxas.❞ She went ahead of him a few steps turning to face him.  ❝ I know I will.❞ 

Turning herself back around she began to run.  ❝ Race you there! ❞

Roxas hummed in response, a smile lighting up his face. “You know, it probably does. We’ll have to remember to ask Axel later.” His smile widened and he looked up, his eyes distant as he recalled old memories. “Me too, I would have been lost without him. And Xion.” With a shy smile he turned to Namine. “And you, too. You gave me the courage to do what I needed.”

At her comment he let out a loud laugh. “Well, I mean. I kind of have gone against nearly everyone who tried to tell me what to do. I didn’t even really listen to Sora all that well. Oops.” He said the last word with a large smirk and a hand on his hip, showing that he didn’t regret his choices at all. 

He had a large smile on his face at her confidence. Roxas couldn’t wait to have all of his favorite people together, eating his favorite treat. Surely that would be the best ice cream ever. Before he could voice any of these thoughts, though, Namine took off running. “Wha-HEY!” He took off after her, laughing as he ran. “You cheater!”
