You and your best friend move in together. The two of you share the same taste in boys, nail polish, and fashion. Two girls, making it work.
Let's say you make $0.70 a month and your roommate makes $1.00 a month. The bills altogether cost $0.70 a month and you split them down the middle, that means you pay $0.35 each. You have a medical condition that costs you $0.15 monthly. Now you have maybe $0.15 a month to work with and she has $0.65.
Everytime an emergency comes up like home repair or supplies such as toilet paper and soap are needed, you and her split the costs equally.
Overtime, this eats away at your savings account and your monthly take away drops to about $0.10 a month. But you make it work.
Your roommate gets a raise almost immediately and now makes $1.25. You do not receive a raise.
She convinces you to get a puppy with her and split the costs. But she never stays home long enough to help you take care of the puppy. The puppy becomes your burden and not hers, but her argument is that she pays for the puppy too and you love the puppy so "what's the big deal?"
You do most of the cooking and cleaning, but because you split the cost equally she doesn't see a problem. Your mutual friends don't see a problem either because she's not good at that stuff and you cook at work anyway so its technically your job. But you're a Superwoman! You make it work.
One day your roommate gets another raise and promotion which affords her enough money and leisure to start hanging out with a whole new circle of friends. She buys a better car and starts shopping and eating out very often. You're very happy for her, but you're overwhelmed with trying to make ends meet for yourself.
Eventually she out grows you and soon becomes embarrassed by how shabby you look. She starts going out with a new best friend and cancels on you all the time.
She saved so much money by splitting costs with you that she had enough to buy a house. Your friend leaves you behind and moves someone else in her new home for free. Now you are left with the rent, puppy, and expenses on your own.
How would this make you feel?
Most women can identify how unfair this situation is. Most women can identify that the other person was selfish and that they don't care about them. Most women would not stand for this. Most women would feel used and stupid. But most women are in this exact situation right now with a man.
Ladies, 50/50 relationships with men are a myth.
Hypergamy means Equity over Equality.
