One time not long after the snowball Mike and El are in the cabin and they hear a newborn kitten crying, so Mike risks out and rescues ir and teaches El how to hold it and feed it with a drip and El is like hOLYSHIT HES SO CARING AND SPECIAL UWU...el keeps the cat btw

It would be a rlly challenging moment for El bc we know how she feels about cats and she rlly doesn’t want to have anything to do with this kitten, but every time she goes to leave it she just can’t get the sound of it crying out of her head and she just feels so bad for it and wants to help it. She carries it into the cabin and the whole time she’s shaking and part of her wants to just run, but she knows she’s doing the right thing and she really doesn’t want this kitten to suffer. After a few hours with it she calms down and starts to fall in love with it a bit and she’s playing with it and feeding it and it actually LOVES her which she did not expect, thinking all cats would automatically hate her. When Hopper comes home that night she begs him to let her keep it, he’s rlly against it at first but he starts to realize how much this means to El (plus she looked like she was about to cry when he said no) and he agrees

It pisses me off that in order for Gary Ross to show how strong Katniss is, he made the decision to take away all of Peeta's physical strength. You can show Katniss' strength without having to take away Peeta's.

yeah i just hate how incompetent Peeta looks in the first movie. his fighting off Cato to save Katniss is even downplayed, like i’m not really sure regular moviegoers understood what happened there. and his being subdued so easily by Cato on the cornucopia without a fresh, life-threatening leg wound was just thbttttttt

I can’t understand why Gary Ross seemed determined to undermine Peeta’s character and arc throughout the first Hunger Games movie—or why Suzanne Collins allowed this to happen. Take note, Gary Ross: Suzanne Collins and Jennifer Lawrence were more than capable of making Katniss Everdeen a powerful heroine. The first movie insulted viewers’ intelligence by assuming they wouldn’t be able to see Katniss as strong unless they undermined Peeta’s strengths by portraying him as weaker than Collins made him in the books. Did Ross have so little faith in filmgoers’ ability to embrace a female protagonist? A woman (and a female character like Katniss) can be strong and appear strong without threatening the masculinity or strength of the men around her. 

No, Josh—don’t smile at Gary Ross! He’s about to totally undermine your character, Peeta Mellark, and your role in the first Hunger Games movie.
