confessions is still fucking wild to me like buck takes half the episode trying to figure out if he actually likes his boyfriend and then overcorrects when josh tells him he doesn’t know being queer is hard sometimes (still a v weird speech and feels very patronising and exclusionary). tommy tells him someone else is going to be his forever person and that he’s going to break his heart one day. all the while, a hot gay priest is telling eddie he’s not allowing himself joy so he recreates a scene that has high pop cultural significance in queer spaces, shaves off his literal beard, and buck interrupts it to sit next to him on the sofa in his underwear. I’d say you can’t make this shit up but…

why did buck get dumped because tommy thought he was going to end up with someone else instead and then directly after that he went to eddie’s house where eddie had just decided to embrace joy and eddie opened the door with no pants on and smiled and smiled and smiled (with no pants on) while they drank beers on the couch together. and then the next season tommy told buck that the someone else he had implied buck would end up with was eddie. and then scoffed at the idea of eddie being straight. meanwhile they’re in the guys house. (but it’s not his because he’s a renter.) and then they haven’t followed up on that yet

Buck is a 9/10 for everyone except for Eddie. He bakes, he cooks, he is a hero with a big heart, he's great with kids. The list could go on. Unfortunately for everyone else, he's also in love with Eddie. So he's only a 10/10 for Eddie because Buck doesn't actually want anyone else, only Eddie.

buck asked tommy to move in with him and tommy cryptically was like “no im not doing that because if we get serious you’re going to hurt me for reasons i do not want to admit to you so we should break up” and then buck confused and hurt went to eddie immediately for comfort and eddie answered the door without pants on. like fully checked the peephole and saw it was buck at the door. and opened the door anyway. and they sat on the couch and drank beer. and eddie never talked to tommy again after this. and they show buck freaking out about the breakup next episode as a juxtaposition to the real loss he has to mourn in eddie moving away just after this. baking vs getting drunk and sleeping with an ex to find comfort. replacing your best friend with a warm body because thats the only thing making you feel better even though you’re originally trying to make new friends and it doesnt help. because its not him. and then when buck hooked up with tommy he did not give a fuck about getting back together but he did seem to feel better because this was admittedly the first time he was actually able to sleep in the damn house he rented off of eddie. out of love so he could leave him. instead of his sisters couch. and then tommy wanted to get back together and buck was ready to go along with it until he said the quiet part out loud. basically saying verbatim “i would not have left you if eddie wasn’t a problem” but buck proves almost immediately that eddie would always continue to be a problem regardless of how many miles are actually between them. so tommy leaves again. and buck is insecure about it so he goes to his sister who agrees. and buck gets defensive but he never talks to eddie about it. because talking to eddie about it would make it real. theres a reason he freaked out so bad about telling EDDIE about his newfound sexuality in season 7 but not giving a shit about anybody else knowing after all. and tommy scoffed when buck said eddies straight.

genuinely how would have tommy reacted having known buck went to eddie immediately after their breakup and eddie answered the door in briefs and a pink button up.

You ever notice the amount of Buddie scenes where you just ask yourself why are you guys hanging out right now.

For example that scene where Eddie is packing for El Paso and Buck is there playing with a toy dinosaur.

I know it's for exposition but like they rarely have a goal when they hang out. It's pretty much just proximity hang outs. Like there is no shared hobby, concert, bar, nor activity that doesn't include exposition.

Like Eddie and Tommy hung out to watch fights and play basketball. Maddie and dispatch did karaoke nights. When they were still friends Maddie and Chim hung out they had hang outs like karaoke too. Athena and Hen are hanging out at a bar. The girls have wine night. Buck hanging out at a bar with Ravi.

That's how friend hang outs work they make plans picking a setting and an activity.

When it is just Buck and Eddie they only seem to hang out when they are going to talk about something and deal with how their life is going. Maybe with a beer or two. Buck just goes to Eddie's house all the time to just plop on the couch. Other than that it's a hang out with Chris like the dinners, child activities, and baking. These two like being next to each other for no reason. They always will have each other's back when the other one needs it.
