got any..heh..Owl Soren or Sorelijah headcanons for me to..steal and/or draw..
hmmm…. let me think about this…….
to start off let me say!! i have no clue how soren is an owl! like idk if he was born that way or? became that way? my main thought is. maybe. the gravediggress in this au would be some sort of owl-esque deity….. and soren’s worship led him to gain more owl like traits… thats all i got on that ..
after some very light researching and mild prior knowledge, owls tend to symbolize knowledge, intuition, etc (mainly from ancient greek mythology, think athena) but biblically they symbolize impurity, isolation, mourning, and divine judgement….. i think theres a lot to play with there, so ill focus on that (im not nor have i ever been religious, so pardon anything i may say oddly/wrong)
maybe soren’s father worked at a churchyard? i dont think its ever specified if the graveyard is religiously affiliated, but i like the idea that his father became the grave digger without going to the church (the main religion practiced in thailand is buddism, so i dont think he would love going to a either a christian church... plus the impression given is that the people hiring dont really give a damn..) so soren most likely grew up non practicing, but somewhat familiar with christianity. and yet, despite working for a church, hes still very isolated from it….. feels like this would lead him towards more ‘out-there’ forms of religion, like would be found within the gravediggress…… this would really lean into those themes of isolation (from his origins in buddism, estrangement from christianity, and the feelings of not belonging that would come with) and divine judgement (whether he is projecting that onto himself, or is actually being judged by these higher beings ? hm..)
hes still definitely a bone collector, but bird bones in particular may just be the most valuable and sacred…. maybe they’d function more as spiritual tokens? in canon the worshippers of the mother of stones wear grave soil around their necks, so maybe they may also wear some sort of bird bone/part? this could get more into feather territory, which is also very cool…. maybe he has more feather jewelry? strangely matching with sydney?
ok those were a bit much. let me get onto some lighter ones…
probably calls the ladybug kids his ‘owlets’ or ‘little birds’ …. something cute like that.
probably wears a lot of patterns… stripes and maybe snakeskin? and WAY too many layers for summer… probably runs very cold. and in my heart hes a siouxie sioux style tradgoth… btu thats just a normal soren headcanon lol….
SUPER reclusive. even more so than in the canon. the councilors hardly know the dude, other than fennel…
has the most sensitive ears ever.. almost constantly wearing noise canceling headphones, but even with them on can hear perfectly fine (sounds like living hell to me. sorry soren </3). this probably doesnt help with the whole loner thing…..
probably super farsighted. those are the type of glasses that make your eyes look MASSIVE which i think goes well with the owl look…. also! lines up with how well owls can see for hunting! probably can see stuff a mile away with ease, just… .dont give him a book.
probably hoots…. or maybe sighs in a way that sounds like hes hooting… very over dramatic little guy….
ive been drawing him with a more hooked nose than my normal soren design! mainly to look more beak like!
hmm…. these are some i can think of…. ill report back later with some sorelijah ones……. but im getting a bit worn out lol!!! hope you like my pal!!!
