Witchy Craft: Witches’ Brew Potion Bottle!
For the first Witchy Craft Wednesday, I’ve decided to make a witches’ brew potion bottle! This could be useful to any Wiccan to hold any liquid, like oils, potions, drinks or just as a decoration to help the area feel a little witchier. Sometimes it’s nice to just spice up some of the common everyday items we use in the craft – every tool, no matter how small, deserves love.
Check out this blog post here!
Hello! I'm new to Wicca and I don't really know where to start learning. I'm so interested in it and want to start a path to Wicca (: what should I do? Thank you in advance!
As far as how to get started, I usually recommend reading my Start Here section, and then moving along to Core Concepts in the Book of Shadows. After you’veread that, if you feel like continuing in Wicca, I recommend a DedicationRitual. After that, it’s just a matter of study and practice.
I have a page of recommended books that you can check out here.
If you have any further questions after that, check out the FAQ, Forums, and feel free to messageme.
Best of luck, and blessed be!
Hey there, I'm brand new to Wicca and I had a question about the 'Do no Harm' code. I assume that also means emotionally and mentally, but what about when it comes to defending things that you love(with words for me, i have a strict no-violence rule) or fighting for things that you love? Sometimes biting remarks just... come out of my mouth.
Hey anon.
So, there’s a difference between defence and offence. When you defend something that you love, you are supporting it, you refute ideas about it that are untrue, and illustrate how someone is bringing harm to those around them when they attack those things. You come from a place where you are simply trying to illustrate to them the disadvantages of their argument, and how you believe your stance to be “correct.”
Offence, on the other hand, seeks to harm. It seeks to say “That other person is stupid, they are evil, they are angry, they are trash...” etc. This, at least in my personal view, and I believe in the view of many other Wiccans, is against the crede of ‘An harm ye none.’
Not to mention, offence is not the best way to refute someone’s argument. Observe below:
This is called the pyramid of argument. It’s a debate/philosophy related concept.
NOW, when you get in an argument with someone about something you believe, they are not going to necessarily acknowledge when you’re right, or you will find that you come to a place where you simply cannot find any way to meet in the middle. It is then best to leave, for the following reasons:
1) You will never win. You’re wasting energy you could be using to feel a lot happier in general about yourself.
2) You are probably so frustrated at this point you’re just spitting negativity at them.
3) You are making yourself feel negative and they are making you feel like crap, too.
You don’t have to explain why you need to leave. They may take it as “winning,” but to anyone watching, you look mature and centered (because you are acting that way!) and they look emotional and like an asshole.
So, I recommend for your personal benefit that you do your best to learn to pull it in sometimes! You will be much happier in general, and stand to gain a lot of personal strength and willpower in the process.
Hi, I have a question that has been bugging me a lot. I have been a practicing and devoted Wiccan for almost 4 years now, and I have been feeling the need to expand my faith. Is it possible at all to be an Islamic-Wiccan, and include both faiths? I know for certain that I believe in Wicca, but I've been looking into Islam for a while.
Ooh Islam is not my particular area of expertise so I’m a little iffy.
Here’s what I’ll say. Nothing in Wicca prevents you from mixing the beliefs of Wicca and Islam, but you have to be sure that there is also nothing in Islam that prevents you from mixing it with Wicca.
So, by way of example, some Christians believe that fundamental aspects of Wicca such as “idol worship” or using magic, etc., go against their personal teachings. That may make it difficult for a Christian to be Wiccan - however, different traditions of Christianity believe different things, and for many more “liberal” traditions of Christianity, it’s not really considered an issue, or is at least allowed to be fudged a bit.
I hope that helped a bit! If anyone has any further comment on this, please feel free to comment on it!
Hello!! I have just recently started to research and practice wicca, but I'm having a hard time really focusing on my inner self and being able to meditate and it's really interfering in my practice. Can you give any pointers on how I can improve this?
Hey there friend! I have an entire article on Meditation you can check out here.
Other than that, just be patient. Realize that meditation is a skill that you have to develop painfully slowly, over time. It’s like a muscle. Eventually you will do better, just stay patient with yourself. When your mind gets distracted, just pull it gently back to where it needs to be. Eventually it won’t be too big of an issue.
Hello, I am back!
Wicca for Beginners went on a short hiatus for a hot second there (by a hot second I mean about a month) but I am back in a healthy and much better place, and I’m ready to slowly pick this project up again. Here’s some stuff you might like to know about it!
1) I am... so full... of asks... There’s probably over a hundred, I’m not sure. I will answer every question that is a week or so younger (slowly but surely - probably not all of them today). If you have any questions that don’t get answered over the next few days, check out the FAQ, Forums, and then if the question is not answered, please send me an ask - just give me a few days to answer them.
2) Pretty soon here W4B is going to start blogging images of Wiccan aesthetic. Why? Well, partially to draw attention to the blog, partially because who doesn’t love the Wiccan aesthetic, and partially because I want to, and that’s that. (If you are totally ???? about what I mean when I say Wiccan aesthetic, check out Wiccan Wanderings, my other blog. Odds are, that blog is going to just be melded into this one).
3) Additional content for the site will be on a “when I get to it” basis. I was really trying to avoid this kind of irregular schedule, but that’s what I’m left with as an option at this point. Depending on circumstances, I may be working up to 3 different jobs in the coming weeks. That doesn’t mean that the site is going to get no love at all, though, so no worries.
Glad to be back!

Hi, so, I was wondering if you had a spell to assist with health, specifically that of the mind. My father has been a severe alcoholic for a few years now, and we (my family and I) have tried everything medically possible to help, but it seems to have broken him beyond earthly repair. I'm aware you shouldn't perform spells on someone without their consent, but I'm afraid he's beyond making that decision himself. I need something to boost his willpower, or maybe to detach whatever dark force 1/2
(2/2) is plaguing his mind.
Magic isn’t always a cure all - I can’t guarantee that it would be able to really fix him. Since you’ve tried everything in your power already in the everyday world, I can see why you’re turning to magic. However, if you’ve already gone this far, he may have already given up on himself (I know this is painful but I have to say it), and therefore is beyond fixing.
I can see you’re coming from a good place so I do want to help you. Some magic certainly couldn’t hurt the situation, especially since you’re clearly coming from the right place and have an understanding of the relationship between real world action and magic.
The main goals in your spell from what I can tell is a four-parter, 1) Purification 2) Strengthening 3) Protection and 4) Healing. To me, that sounds like a custom made spell, because you need those four ingredients. Since you clearly know some of what I’ve written already, you may have come across this, but I recommend you write your own spell. If you like, feel free to write it and send it to me and I’ll give it a look over and add any suggestions I have.
Addiction is an insidious disease, and it’s clearly got an incredibly strong hold on him. I truly wish you the best of luck - I hope magic will be able to at least make things slightly easier on everyone involved.
Also, let me stress - you clearly already know this but for everyone - magic has to be accompanied by real world action in order to be truly effective, and even then, there are just some things beyond our power. It is a sad but true reality.
As I said, best of luck, and blessed be.
What would you recommend for easy research and beginner spells for Wicca?
WELL did you know I have a website that has a lot of what you’re looking for? WiccaforBeginners.com
Hello 😊 my friend and I just started getting into Wicca and we are super excited. We just wanted to know first of all how we can find our elements? Our zodiacs say we are water and we kinda feel that but we wanna be sure. Any suggestions?
Firstly, I’ll say that not all Wiccans feel as though they need to attach themselves to an element - it’s not necessary. However, many like to.
Finding mine was mostly a matter of intuition. What I might recommend for you is to check out this page that goes into detail about the deeper meanings of the Elements and how they play a part in Wicca. Having that understanding might help you out.
Further than that, I suggest you commune with the element you want to associate yourself with - try my guided meditation to try and meet them in your inner temple and speak with them personally.
Also, please know that each element has it’s own meanings and significances, and as a Wiccan, learning from each element can be incredibly helpful to you on your journey.
This may be dumb question but I've started attempting to do some spells and whenever I do I feel less connected to my body if that makes sense. Is that normal?
I’ve never heard of it but that doesn’t necessarily make it abnormal. We all react to the experience differently - there’s a lot of variation. So long as it doesn’t bother you, you’re fine.
This is probably dumb but I really want to find a diety that I can give offerings to and worship but I have no idea where to begin I have absolutely no idea where to look because I know that there are a lot out there I want to find one that I can have a connection with but I'm not sure how to Is there any place that I can go to help with my search ?
Hey! So if you’re looking for your patron god, there’s a lot of different ways to go about it. Usually I recommend the guided meditation here.
If you would prefer to research first, try starting with the pantheon that interests you most and go from there.
How do I become a wiccan? I feel dumb for asking this.
No need to feel dumb! It’s a valid question!

Have you ever encountered an atheist Wiccan? I have a friend who has very spiritual energy and is very connected with nature, and claims to celebrate Wiccan holidays because "they were the 'first' holidays", but she says she doesn't believe in Gods or Goddesses. I sometimes wonder if she's connecting with something and just hasn't noticed it yet, or maybe there could be a such thing as a wiccan without a higher power.
People that claim to be Atheist Wiccans exist, and there is no way in the world that I could possibly say that their practice is necessarily wrong - because I don’t have the authority to say what’s correct and incorrect in religion.
Atheist Wiccans believe that they can do magic without a higher power - and that may be possible. Power doesn’t come alone from the God and Goddess - it comes from the Wiccan, too, and the flowing of nature. There are many sources of magical power.
I should interject here, though, and say that if she has no image of the God and Goddess (even as well explained scientific phenomena or something), there are some in the Wiccan community who would say that she is not Wiccan, as that is often considered a key part of being Wiccan.
But, since each Wiccan has their own image of what Wicca is, it’s really difficult to say “So and so is or isn’t Wiccan.” since the definition keeps changing as you go from person to person.
Really it’s something you need to decide for yourself. Is it possible to find parts of Wicca that are universal to each Wiccan? Or should we simply say, if they define themselves as Wiccan, then they are? You need to make that choice on your own.
i'm VERY new to witchcraft/paganism and am still very much researching and exploring. however, i don't think wicca resonates with me for various reasons. i have a question that might sound dumb but is 'casting a circle' a wiccan thing? or is it used by all witches?
Lesson One: nothing is used by all witches. There’s going to be legions of witches (and even a few Wiccans) that don’t use circles.
Disclaimer aside, speaking in general terms, most witches and magic users in general cast circles for magic, this is true.
