This isn't related to the usual content on my blog, but this is the main place I post anything. There's a TON of serious issues with the blue gay flag and its variations, and several members of the community are sharing their proposals for new flags that accurately represent all of us. I'm chipping in to share my concept:
And here's a simplified version with six stripes:
It's intentionally reminiscent of the classic rainbow flag, as that has been the most common flag us gay men have used to represent ourselves with, alongside the rest of the LGBTQ+ community. A few of the colors and their meanings are directly inspired by the original 1978 flag, with additional new meanings that I believe are intrinsic to who we are. As someone with severe light sensitivity, I worked on balancing out the cool tones with the warm tones, and being able to have blue and violet in there, as I believe them to be important colors to the flag, without the colors being too intense.
If you share this, don't feel the need to credit me, but please don't take credit lol. I'm fully aware if how embarrassing it is for me to post something serious like this on a blog centered around my special interest.
I'm open to hearing input!! Especially if you are a gay man/nonbinary person or a lesbian, as the situation with the flag has an impact on all of us.
