This is major coming from Hunter btw, Hunter who has trust issues and CPTSD acknowledging that yes!!! He trusts Echo!! Wholeheartedly too, but more than that he understands Echo’s need to help Rex and their other brothers.

Uhm but yes all of this to say I’m very normal about echo and yes I kept track of when he was mentioned in sanctuary. A totally normal and sane thing to do…yes? Yes.
I wonder if George and Dave had any idea just how beloved the clones would be amongst the women fans of Star Wars. Like mhm yes thank you for these silly little guys who make safe spaces for children despite being bred for war. Who show nothing but the upmost respect for the women in their lives. Thank you for giving us men who have every reason to be toxic but aren’t.
And also yes thank you for giving us men who are stripped of their autonomy and seen as lesser beings in a corrupt galaxy, because we all know how fairly women are treated in our own societies.
These men have no representation in the senate and therefore have no votes, I wonder who else historically has only recently been able to vote.
And why it’s one of my favourite scenes in The Bad Batch
Okay, so it should go without saying that I absolutely adore every single scene of Echo and Omega, their dynamic is just *chefs kiss*
But the small moment we get of the two at the market with Omega's newly acquired doll is just everything to me, and here's why:
So first thing's first, Echo is making space for a little girl in a busy market. And he is letting her take up space, he is letting her be a child in a galaxy that forces them to grow up too quickly. He shares her curiosity and childlike wonder with her, I'd go so far as to say he encourages her to lean into her innocent wonder.
Echo gives Omega his full attention despite there being about a million other things he could be focusing on, they're in an unfamiliar setting surrounded by hundreds of people. And as Fennec later proves, not all of these civilians are safe. But still, he gives Omega his undivided attention when he could have easily insisted she wait until they're back on the Marauder.
And maybe I've just rewatched that scene one too many times because I noticed that Echo hunches over slightly, makes himself smaller when giving Omega his attention. He's a tall dude especially compared to Hunter but we see him visibly making himself smaller to converse with Omega, once again showing that she's quite literally the only thing that matters to him in that moment, rest of the galaxy be damned.
Perhaps my favourite detail is that Echo too fusses over the doll. He takes it between his fingers and cradles it with his scomp. A tool that he's come to use through necessity after being torn apart by the separatists, is what he uses to steady the innocent comfort of his sister.
Echo is so tenderly gentle with Omega and her doll here when he has every reason not to be gentle after what he's gone through. But we see it time and time again, especially with Omega, that he softens himself in her company. Moreso than when he's with the other Batchers.
Anyways...I love this man with my entire being and the compassion and kindness that he encapsulates is just *MWAH* 😚
Also, lowkey embarrassed to post something like this because I have NEVER posted these kinds of analysis posts. I fear my adhd brain makes my ramblings nonsensical and a bit sporicidal. But here's to pushing ourselves out of our comfort zones in the last checks calendar five months of the year
Let it be known if we ever get new tbb comics or books that actually, yknow, INCLUDE echo I’ll become even more insufferable than I already am about that man
- without his headpiece he is partially deaf. It took him a while to come to terms that not only does he have visible disabilities, but hidden ones too.
- because of this he knows sign language and is fluent in it. He learnt it alone, not wanting to burden his siblings. Tech taught the batch sign language in secret and it becomes their main form of communication when echo is overwhelmed and overstimulated
- speaking of being overwhelmed, echo will remove his headpiece when the batch are being too noisy. Sometimes the constant noise of the marauders engines, his own cybernetics and the constant chatter of his siblings can be too much for him. The rest of the batch usually find a discarded headpiece before they find echo curled up somewhere under a blanket.
A little sneak peak at what I'm currently working on ~
Currently this baby is sitting at 4.5k words and I don't feel like I'm anywhere near done with it 🫣The Batch go on 'one last mission' when a sith artifact bugs out and makes echo a child again...with no memories past his age...

"Ni kar'tayli gar darasuum," He whispered. Din had carried his love for Grogu in his heart since he first laid eyes on the boy, and it only served to grow increasingly fond. But he had yet to utter those words to his son. Unconscious and whilst asleep was a start, he supposed.
Set immediately after TMAG, a tired Din and Grogu go home. Only for Din to remember he had blown a hole in the roof of their hut so the two hunker down for the night in the Crest. (AKA i almost cried over that ONE scene in TMAG where Grogu snuggles into Din's side and immediately needed more.)

I had a lot of fun writing this one but I struggled immensely! This is my first time ever writing for Din and why is he so hard to get right and characterise in a way that still feels like him 😂 Anyways, I'll be back to my usual clone and codywan fics soon hehe
