But omg guys I met a really cool person yesterday and we spent four hours just talking and it was so great

So fun story - this person was a volunteer at the charity shop I was volunteering at but they were normally on a different day to me. They were a 16 year old lesbian, I was a 21 year old trans masc person, we had a great time chatting about Carmilla and queerness and it was just v lovely and life affirming. Never saw each other again after that shift and I moved away a few months later.

Anyway, fast forward 3 years to early 2019, I'm at a trans masc group in the city I now live in, the conversation has somehow ended up at Carmilla and I mention that I met Kathryn Alexander one time. One of the people I'm talking to says "oh yeah you told me about that in [charity shop]" and I just sit confused for a second before they start telling me about that day and omg I was so shocked. Turns out they had also moved to this city for university (the same one I go to!), come out as trans and been to a few of our meet ups without me even realising 😂

We genuinely can’t believe it. You guys are so amazing and we’re so happy to be on this journey with all of you, absurd blue hellsite and all. The folks who have told us that they rekindled a hobby, or those that have started new, the wild submissions, and the sheer quantity of people who have made the absurd electrical impulses from our brains into a thing you can hold in your hand brings us joy on a daily basis.  So what are we giving away?

1. A pattern commission from us. It will be around our standard size and complexity, in .pdf form 2. A mystery needle minder! Prism has been practicing construction in anticipation of the Nat 20′s we’re going to get in, so she’s got a small array of tests that came out very nicely.  3. A mystery kit! So many mysteries. We’re just getting started creating kits, so you can get your hands on one before they become available.  4. A gorgeous pattern from @mathysphere. my goodness look at the amount of detail on this one. the colors, the shading, everything is just spot on. you can almost make out the individual feathers. truly a marvelous mallard. 10/10

i see they went with one of those brown varieties of duck. while this is a bold move on their part, i feel as though it loses a bit of its personality. i’m just not really feeling this bird.  7/10

this looks like a modern colorization of the famous duck from the hieroglyphs. i am absolutely in awe of their dedication to the medium and commentary on the transformative nature of art. 10/10

ohoho, what a dynamic three quarters angle! the artist’s ability to capture the essence of duck in 3d space is so refreshing to witness. 10/10

this bird’s looking a bit sickly, i think it has to do with the highlights being in weird places. hope he feels better soon. 5/10

a bit more minimalist this time around. the lack of legs makes it seem as though he’s resting on the surface of the water, and i really admire how it sets a scene and makes me feel like i’m really there. 9/10

i’m really digging the positive energy coming from this bird. i can’t explain why, but i feel like that animal’s my friend. 10/10
