We do not intervene between a person and the consequences of their own behavior.
Secrets of Slytherin no.87
In other words…we laugh our asses off at others’ misfortunes.
Not exactly. Sure that’s one way to take it, but not intervening or letting something happen doesn’t mean we take glee from it. Also, there’s nothing in the post that says the consequences are negative.
It’s caring enough about the person to let them learn from their own experiences because they’re too stubborn to do things the easy way. You know it’s the only way they will learn and grow from an experience because you’re the exact same way
It might be caring, yes. But there is also the situation where someone comes to a Slytherin for advice and then chooses not to follow it, getting themselves into the exact situation that the Slytherin tried to protect them from. We aren’t heartless, but I think many of us (at least the Slytherins I know, myself included) realize that, if someone doesn’t take our advice, especially when it’s sound and based in logic, the kind of deserve to experience the bad consequences that they’ve brought upon themself.
I will gladly help my friends and family if they ask me to, and I will go above and beyond for them. But if they choose to make a poor decision after asking my advice that advised against it, well, they’re on their own. I gave you the reasons why it was a bad idea, laid it out plainly and obviously. If you’re determined to be an idiot, you can be an idiot on your own.
