We are investigating reports of errors when trying to load AO3, including errors saying that AO3 is down, which seem to be related to the previous incident. We will update when we have more information!
Freaking figures.... I have been editing this chapter for TWO WEEKS, finally got it finished, I had it in the AO3 editor, carefully tweaking it all weekend, got it all set up and looking how I want, one extra read-through for good measure, a few more errors fixed, copied the HTML code into a doc (which I do every time, JUUUUUST IN CASE!!!!) clicked the button to publish it...
... and AO3 is down.
Thank goodness I remembered to save. I have learned THAT lesson one too many times. But I gotta rush off now. Once I'm back, hopefully AO3 will be up and running again.
Have you heard of Enneagram Types? How on Earth did I get through college, taking writing classes, and even two psychology classes (regular and child psych) and never came across this.
First, I want to credit Abbie Emmons for bringing this to my attention when I randomly clicked her video and immediately began to follow her for writing advice.
In short, it uses psychology to figure out, not simply your character's general behavior like the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (which I already use in my in-depth character sheets) but Enneagram shows us what our character BELIEVES.
So let's say you have a Hero archetype main character who wants to save the world. That's part of MBTI. But what are your character's internal conflicts? What ghosts of the past do they struggle against? What fears and doubts nag in the back of their mind? What addictions might they even turn to when life gets too stressful? What mental health issues might they suffer from when at their lowest? What personal growth must your character go through to move out of those dark moments and back into being a hero?
See, THAT sounds way more interesting than simply "He has a ISFJ personality."
I began to read through them, curious if I could figure out some of my characters.
Instead, I got to Type 9: Peacemaker, and my jaw dropped. I almost began to feel queasy.
Optimistic, a healer, a serene spirit, avoids conflicts in order to keep a balanced and calm atmosphere.
Their desire is to have inner stability and a peace of mind.
Their fear is loss and separation.
They strive to create harmony in their environment, to avoid conflicts and tension.
At their best, they are in a blissful zen state, self-possessed, fulfilled, content, fully connected to themself and to others. They are receptive, accepting, serene, trusting. They are often optimistic, supportive, people feel at peace in their presence and tend to open up around them. They used this calming influence to bring people together, acting as a good mediator in times of conflict.
On an average day, they can fear conflicts so much, they become self-effacing, accommodating, going along when they don't want to. They can fall into conventional roles and expectations, become disengaged and inattentive. They might end up walking away from problems or escaping into comforting fantasies. (Heh!!! Yeah...) They are so focused on trying to bring back that sense of peace they crave, others get frustrated and angry by their procrastination and unresponsiveness.
At their worst, they can be repressed, undeveloped, ineffectual, and obstinate. They can start to remove themself from all conflicts, leaving to isolation. They block out of awareness of anything that could affect them, dissociating so much that they eventually cannot function, becoming numb, depersonalized, severely disoriented, and even become catatonic. (Oooooh yes... lots of therapy on THAT issue.) At its very worse, they can develop Schizoid and Dependent personality disorders.
Their possible addictions include: depressants, psychotropics, alcohol, marijuana, or narcotics to deaden the loneliness and anxiety; over-eating or under-eating due to lack of self-awareness; lack of physical activity as they escape into a "safe zone" and rarely leave. (Oooooh yes!)
Real world examples: Queen Elizabeth II, Abraham Lincoln, Ronald Reagan, Walt Disney, Jim Henson, George Lucas, Audrey Hepburn, Zooey Deschane, Morgan Freeman, Mr. Rogers.
I realized, I was reading about myself, my beliefs, my weaknesses, the darkest moments of my life when things fell apart, reflections of my mental health, things I've had to talk through in therapy, and advice they gave me so many times, and I always cried out in frustration, "Easier said than done! That's impossible!"
Even one of the addictions being under-eating is something I'm guilty of.
Trying to figure out my characters is harder. I had to take the Enneagram test.
This Free Enneagram Personality Test, Is One Of The Most Powerful Tools To Help You Understand Yourself, And Understand Others.
I took the test as Eren and Levi as they appear in my fanfic "Dangerous Territory," to start off.
Levi came out Type 1: The Reformer.
The rational, idealistic type: principled, purposeful, self-controlled, and a perfectionist.
Their desire is to "be good" and have integrity.
Their fear is becoming evil/corrupt.
They strive after higher values, even at the cost of great personal sacrifice.
At their very best, they are wise, discerning, inspiring to others, strong personal convictions, rational, reasonable, self-disciplined, mature, with a sense of responsibility and personal integrity.
On an average day, they tend to be advocates, with strong opinions about "how things should be," well-organized, yet emotionally constricted, critical, rigidly keeping their feelings in check, or even become abrasive and judgmental at times.
At their very worst, they can turn out to be highly dogmatic, self-righteous, intolerant, inflexible, obsessive about imperfection, condemnatory toward others, punitive, and cruel to rid themselves of wrongdoers. (You know, like Levi slitting throats left and right! Or hell, even Magath would be a "dark side" version of this.)
Real world examples: Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Jimmy Carter, Michelle Obama, Margaret Thatcher, Prince Charles, Maggie Smith, Julie Andrews, George Harrison, or in fiction, Spock in Star Trek.
Eren was a challenge, because there's "free Eren" (the side he can only show to Levi, Jean, and Armin) and "chained Eren," what he must show to the world in order to not get killed, and his chained version often blends in with his normal self.
Still, Eren came out as Type 2: The Helper.
They are the caring type, generous, a people-pleasing. They are friendly, generous, and self-sacrificing, but can also be sentimental, flattering, and people-pleasing.
Their desire is to feel love.
Their fear is being unwanted, unworthy of being loved.
They strive after the goal of wanting to be loved, to express their feelings for others, to be needed and appreciated, to get others to respond to them, to vindicate their claims about themselves.
At their very best, they are unselfish, humble, and altruistic: giving unconditional love to self and others, compassionate, forgiving. They try to encourage those around them.
On an average day, they can be full of "good intentions," self-sacrificing, and in relationships they can become overly intimate and intrusive: they need to be needed, and can end up codependent.
At their worst, they can be manipulative, coercive, bitterly resentful, extremely self-deceptive about their motives and how aggressive and/or selfish their behavior is. They can develop Histrionic Personality Disorder (pattern of excessive attention-seeking behaviors) and turn to making up illnesses and weaknesses just to get the attention they demand.
Real world examples include: Eleanor Roosevelt, Nancy Reagan, Stevie Wonder, Dolly Parton, Josh Groban, or in fiction, Dr. McCoy from Star Trek.
I want to eventually add the Enneagram Type into my master character sheet, an 8-page mega deep dive. I have never attempted to fill out the ENTIRE thing for a character (many don't apply) but it's still a helpful thing to have.
Oriana Korol, a 38-year-old child and family therapist, remains in Clark County Jail.
This is my friend and fellow bandmate. What happened to her is ATROCIOUS.
She's out of jail after 3 days of not being told why she had been arrested. She now awaits trial... for "assaulting an officer." Which is BS. There are a dozen videos from multiple angles all showing that agents had barreled into the band, she got pushed aside against a chainlink fence, and when she tried to get back to the rest of her bandmates, she slipped in the mud. (It had been pouring rain that day.)
Suddenly, agents leaped on her, broke her clarinet, and arrested her. They also shot a drummer in the face (he required 5 stitches) and doused the entire band in pepper spray.
They were simply playing music.
They arrest peaceful protesters. They arrest peaceful MAGA counter-protesters.
It doesn't matter what side you are on anymore.
VERY FEW in Portland are violent. They're playing music, singing, dancing in costumes... until DHS agents march out into the street and rough people up. If you DARE to fall to the ground when pushed, they'll arrest you for "attacking an officer." If you don't fall to the ground, that's "resisting arrest."
It doesn't matter what you do.
PLEASE be safe out there today. Have a camera ready to document.
Hi rhov! Hope you’re doing well! Your most recent post mentions hyperfixations and how you wrote so much in one sitting, it made me wonder if you have had any hyperfixations outside of writing recently? Any type of media or anything that you’ve been enjoying a lot recently?
Sorry for not replying for a while. My hyperfixations are counterbalanced by executive dysfunction when it comes to checking email and messages. (I used to be obsessed with checking email all the time. Now, I've gotten into trouble for not checking for a solid week and missing important work messages.)
Actually, my writing has been put on hold as I was trying to finish two Halloween songs for my band: "Dead Man's Party" and the movie version of "I Put a Spell on You." I'm a music arranger, I love working on these, but our performance is in 3 weeks.
I was sooooo hyperfocused on formatting the music so that it looks JUST RIGHT, and because of that I didn't finish them until rather late. These songs are rather challenging pieces. I mean, I don't think they are THAT hard, but the band is having problems. I'm trying to figure out WHY so I can simplify the music (these are custom pieces) but they aren't great and giving me feedback. I think they're afraid of hurting my feelings, and I keep reassuring them, I'M A WRITER. I've heard the worst critiques from college professors.
Now it seems we won't have time to work on them before showtime. (We only meet once a week.) I should have had them ready to rehearse back in September, if not August, so we'd be ready, but I got too focused on formatting the music.
That is one big problem with hyperfixations. You become so focused on something useless, you forget about the IMPORTANT stuff.
I can also get quite fixated organizing Spotify playlists. Like, seriously, I will spend days getting the songs into JUST THE RIGHT ORDER. Recently, it's been my Halloween acapella playlist. There are so many songs by VoicePlay, I'm trying to find other acapella groups who've made Halloween songs. Sadly, it's basically just the same songs over and over again. We need more Halloween music!
(Yeah, I'm pretty big into acapella. Pentatonix, VoicePlay, The Bass Gang, Straight No Chaser, Home Free, Voctave, Peter Hollens... I'm obsessed with all-vocal groups and their insane talent.)
i adore your writing so sooo much! have always been my favorite fanfic author and i would do anything for you to write satosugu fics. satoru gojo and suguru geto from jujutsu kaisen. you wrote a lot of fics for my fav ships throughout the years and stsg is my current obsession and there is a severe lack of juicy fics. i come pleading and hoping you like the pairing enough to have the desire.
hehe wishing you well and forever grateful for your work! i talk about it anytime i’m gushing about fanfics! v much loved ❤︎₊ ೃ ⊹
Ooooh, I'm not familiar with that one. I'll have to put it on my list of things to binge when the weather turns bad and I'm stuck indoors.
I can't hold back any longer. I kept thinking my words weren't perfectly prepared, but the truth is, I'll probably never feel ready enough. So I'm just gonna say it now: I LOVE your writing sooooooo much!
The way you craft each character's speech habits and subtle mannerisms is absolutely captivating, making them feel so real. Their communication and care for one another perfectly portray genuine mutual respect and love. It's incredible how you manage to balance such tension with heartfelt emotion, while also making every character so three-dimensional and compelling.
But no, it's impossible for me to fully express everything that amazes me about your writing... Reading each chapter of Catch the Thunder brings me pure happiness. Because of your work, I've had an unforgettable and wonderful time this year. Thank you for it all.
🥹🌹✨
Oh my gosh, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!
Don't worry, I also don't always know how to reply to things. I'm like, "This person just poured out their heart, and you wanna just say 'thanks'??? Gurl, what's wrong with you?" Haha!
But really, thank you. I've worked so hard to get better at dialogue. These two are easy to write, though. Their voices are just THERE, you know?
I hope the rest of your year is just as good. It's been a HECK of a year for me, but writing has always been my escape.
(Which explains why I'm now writing 6 books at the same time.)
I live in Portland, a proudly weird city of hippies, artists, nature lovers, cosplayers, and book nerds.
Five years ago, we watched as buses full of Proud Boys came in, burning our small businesses and beating up protesters. Our police not only turned a blind eye, they were caught purposely helping Proud Boys, and when arrested for vandalism, they'd let people go if you said you were a Proud Boy. Once called out, they actually did their jobs and cracked down against the fascist White supremacists, and life FINALLY returned to normal in our city.
Portland police officer testimony in a civil trial last week suggests the city's police have an understanding of civil rights and use-of-for
Fox News made it sound like Portland was a warzone. In reality, the worst of it, the actual rioting, was contained to a single city block.
Now, because our geriatric President saw an old video of the 2020 riots and thought it was happening now, he sent troops to our city.
Did Donald Trump get excited about sending troops into Portland, Oregon, because he was watching 5-year-old footage on Fox News depicting vi
All of us in Portland were confused.
As we sipped organic free trade coffee and strolled the farmer's market for the best deal on marionberry jam, we heard Trump claim we were a warzone and buildings were on fire.
Meanwhile, the only fighting was over the price of gouda, and the only smoke was from dozens of joints as people enjoyed the last sunny weekend before we head into our 6-month rain season.
Trump claimed we were a warzone.
We are not.
President Donald Trump said ‘Portland is burning to the ground,’ but his claim is exaggerated. While there have been dozens of arrests since
He wanted to send troops to oppress the "insurrectionists" in Portland. We brought Voodoo Doughnuts and Stumptown Coffee.
Fox News wanted to show video of black-clad men screaming against ICE, we brought out our Halloween costumes early.
They wanted riots, we line danced the Cha Cha Slide and started a whole trend of the dancing frogs.
The president wants us to be afraid. These activists are clowning him instead.
They wanted mobs?
Well, we're planning to arrive en masse to protest this Sunday... riding bicycles naked.
(We do love our traditional naked bike ride!)
The ride is set for Sunday, October 12, beginning at 3:00 p.m.
Resistance is not always violence.
Sometimes, it's holding up a mirror to absurdity.
It's seeing the other side wants us to throw the first punch, and we instead bring homemade vegan gluten free cupcakes.
Are Oregonians prepared to fight? Hell yes! We are the descendants of those hearty enough to survive the Oregon Trail.
Do not mess with people who think a good weekend is hiking into a forest full of cougars, bobtails, and bears just to gather mushrooms and maybe get to hang out with Bigfoot.
Take a moment to learn some nitty gritty details about wild edible mushroom. There are many species and it's easy to confuse edible with poi
We all learned how to use firearms from our one uncle with a bugout bunker in Boring or Estacada, full of enough weapons to arm a small nation and enough ammo to start up 5 gun stores.
Don't let the hippie facade fool you.
Portland chooses to instead be a mirror for the nation to see how ridiculous MAGA is and how far they're willing to go.
If that means juxtaposing armed men being mocked by a person in a frog costume, then by God, let us be the court jester who calls out the wannabe king.
How do you write smut so well? Like, I know you do a lot of research for all of your stories, but how do you write (specifically) gay smut? I'm female but don't really care for intimacy irl, I just love reading. Does that make sense? #NoShame😎 So when writing those scenes I'm not sure how to explain them. I'm not even sure if looking up a porno will help 'cause aren't they notorious for being exaggerated and not a good reference for realistic stuff? And I don't have any guy friends to ask haha 😅
Hey, totally no shame! My sister is aroace, so having no interest is normal in my world.
First decide the characters and the type of relationship: a casual hook-up, a nervous new love, friends with benefits, an established relationship, a married couple, enemies-to-lovers, etc.
Then decide on the mood. Is this a scene of tender lovemaking? Is it impulsive and carnal?
The location really is important: early morning in bed, in a car, in a pool, in the bathroom stall of a nightclub, zero G in space, squeezed together way too close in a closet.
It's often the small things that make a smutty story good: the gentle touch, the tender words, the rough pinning down, snarls of lust, whichever direction you want to go.
This is about the physical pleasure, so be sure to make it ALL ENCOMPASSING. Utilize ALL the senses: a smell of candles or perfume flowers, the sound of a love song on the radio or pulsing EDM, the feel of a soft bed or frigid roughness of a brick wall pushed against a character's back.
Aaaand... Since from here I'm going to get a bit more SPICY advice, I'll put it under the break.
Rated Smexy ahead!
Okay, so as for the actual SEX parts, let's be real: it's repetitive. Grinding, jerking, sucking, whatever you aim for. Ironically, that's the boring part.
You can mix it up of course, so there's at least something different going on. That's how real sex works anyway. You start out with hands or mouth, and you warm up to the main event.
I can understand the struggle of being inexperienced, no gay friends to ask advice, and knowing that 90% of gay fanfics and especially porn are all unrealistic. I mean, the home filmed porn is a lot less "12-inch-cock and DDD boobs" unrealistic. You look up twink stuff on the right porn sites, that tends to have good stuff.
(Have I watched porn PURELY for research? Ooooh yeah, which is honestly a weird experience.)
The truth is, it's all the same actions, the same anatomy and same ways to pleasure it, just in different order.
In storytelling, it's mostly about the EMOTION. And that's something you don't need to ask a gay friend to explain. Even if you've never been in love, most people have read enough romantic to understand how love works. Or lust! Whatever your story calls for.
As an inexperienced writer, my advice is to start with actions you think are beautiful or really hot. Even simple acts. Touching through clothes, nibbling on the neck, etc. Not only are you building your characters up sensually, but your readers as well.
The vast majority of gay smut readers are women. It's a psychological thing, according to actual research someone desperate for a unique doctoral thesis decided to do, hahaha! It's actually because women find gay sex less "threatening." Plus, I mean, if you're a woman who likes cock, what's better than TWO cocks?
My point is, because women are the prime consumers of gay smut, know what women want. Looooong foreplay (we take forever to warm up) and lots of aftercare.
As far as sex itself goes, at least know basic human anatomy and what the general actions are. You'd be surprised how many writers either don't know how penises works, or they clearly read about sex in a science book and they're trying to show off "hey look, I know what SEMEN means." It's kinda... ick...
Like, really, please NEVER write "and then he put his penis into his vagina, moved it around a bit, and came with a grunt." Honest to God, I've read that in a fanfic before.
Some words are too... biological? You can only say "testicles" so many times before it sounds like you've never seen them except in a biology book. Other words are historically seen as "smutty" but these days are simply less "textbook-ish": cock instead of penis, balls instead of testicles, cum instead of semen, pussy instead of vagina. Not that you can't use both, but "and then his semen spurted out" has got to be one of the least sexy line ever written.
(Side note: I once read a fascinating article into the psychology of why woman use "cock" more, and men use "dick" more. I wish I remembered why, but I used that tidbit of knowledge to shape how characters talk. In "Catch the Thunder," Laxus mostly says dick, while Freed says cock or tries to not say it at all. It's not a hard and fast rule, it's just how their speech pattern leans generally.)
You don't want to veer so far away from technical words that you arrive in the land of "Purple Prose." Look it up, it's safe to read about and important as a writer.
What is purple prose? It's writing that is elaborate and ornate but doesn't convey much substance. Learn what it is and how to avoid it here
In terms of writing smut, it's a line such as: "He raised his round globes and spread them to reveal his tiny puckered star, which got his lover's mast to turgid with desire." Just..... no..... It's fine to use creative ways rather than saying "cock" over and over, but all with moderation.
Other biological realities to learn: men RARELY are able to come twice without a long rest. Refractory periods are around 15 minutes, depending on the guy, so they can absolutely go for Round 2 after some cuddling. It's not like in yaoi manga, where the seme gets the uke off 5 times in a row and then says something like "your ass is so wet now." Basic biology!!! Asses ARE NOT self-lubricating. Can you go in dry? Yeah, but it's NOT fun. Spit works in a pinch (not the best) but when writing smut fics, using LOTS of lube is important if you're going through the backdoor.
Lessons I've learned: Readers find using a condom super sexy. Never underestimate the importance of consent and safe sex. Readers get happy when a partner stops and asks, "Are you sure you want this?" or pauses in the middle of things and asks, "Is there anything else you want me to do?" Communication!!!
I mean, that's a lesson for love in general. Communicate with your partner, let them know your needs, ask them for their own needs.
At least for me as a writer, it's about the mental/emotional exploration, the words exchanged between the lovers, a meaningful look, a whispered word, a growled confession in the heat of the moment... or even REALITY crashing in: a silly slip off the bed or a sudden muscle cramp, doing something wrong the first time and figuring it out with communication.
I'll write a PWP for the hell of it, but smut for smut sake is... boring. Make it have a PURPOSE.
Hope that helps, and I apologize if it took me a while to reply to this. It seems Tumblr wasn't showing my Inbox messages for some reason. It's fixed now.
I am once again thinking of your lovely works. My fiance&sub and I work at our local Club. The aesthetics from Catch the Thunder I once thought Magical,I now build into the events I run. I wish I had a good way to pay homage 💖
That's so awesome!!! I'm working on Catch the Thunder right now. These next few chapters are... ugh!!! Like, I know the direction they need to go to, but I feel it's missing something. Maybe it's a bit like building out a scene, you know? You need to set more than just the right mood.
I haven't done any events since Covid. Just exhausted, you know? I'm so happy for you and your fiance. Congrats.
Hi! Sorry to bother you, but I just wanted you to know that the photos in your latest chapter of Dangerous Territory aren't showing up for me. It's not ao3 or your fault; it's my region (the UK, which going through its crappy online safety bill bs rn) that's made it unable for me to see it. Just thought you should know for any other UK readers you have (or any others who are also going through this).
Thank you for letting me know. I'm not totally sure how I can fix this without shifting hundreds of pictures to a new host.
I use Imgur to host the images on AO3, and yeah, it seems they geoblocked UK users a few days ago after getting threats of a fine from your government.
The image-hosting platform - which is widely used to make memes - was facing a fine over its use of children's data.
This sucks, but good for Imgur!
I think more companies need to do this to nations with restrictive laws. Mine included!
Rather than getting bullied into changing their services for ALL of their users around the globe, simply geoblock the one with politicians who think they're "serving the people." Let's see how long those politicians keep their elected jobs when the citizens lose access to website images and can't share memes on Reddit.
Americans should use Imgur EVEN MORE until even those crusty old UK politicians get annoyed.
Hell, CNN, NPR, and Fox News should put aside their rivalry and troll the UK by using Imgur for ALL of their news stories for a week. Make it so the UK government realizes how dumb they're being. Maybe they'll back off on the draconian attack against the freedom of speech.
I'm really sorry you're going through this. In the meantime, it looks like many UK users on Reddit are doing what Chinese and Russian citizens already have to do: make use of a VPN.
Learn how to access Imgur from the UK using a VPN in October 2025. Bypass geo-restrictions to unblock Imgur and get your images back.
In terms of free VPNs, we use Proton VPN. It often ranks as one of the best free ones, unlimited data, no logs, although there can be latency issues. This might not be as much as a problem in Europe.
If you're short on cash, you can still get a VPN to improve your online privacy. Here's everything you get (and don't get) with the best fre
Happy anniversary to my Hubby, soul mate, and best friend. ❤️💍 We don't need island vacations and fancy dinners. Just need to hold his hand and snuggle up. 🥰
Klingon therapist: the battle against mental illness cannot be won decisively. It is a long campaign against an enemy who never tires, whose forces swell to twice their size whenever you look away. Battle against a foe of such magnitude, who occupies your very mind… every moment you survive is a triumph against all odds. There is no more honorable combat.
After finding out a Discord group is claiming I use AI to write Dangerous Territory, I thought I would share this article about the bias such detectors have against neurodivergent people.
Neurodivergent students are falsely flagged at higher rates on AI Detectors. This makes AI detection investments more critical for them.
A Washington Post investigation also showed that AI detectors that claim to be 99% accurate actually had false-positive outcomes 50% of the time. That average was higher if the writer had autism, ADHD, dyslexia, or if English was their second language.
So congrats to the people on Discord. You outed me as autistic.
Do you feel proud of yourselves?
Oy...
Let me be up front. I have used ChatGPT for translations (because good luck finding a translator from English into Cuxhaven dialect Plattdeutsch), basic-level research (never trust it's accurate but it can point you in the right direction), to check grammar, and while I've tried to use it as a line editor, I found it was... NOT good, to put it mildly.
Still, I have — very sparingly — used it as a writing tool, mostly because I don't have the money to buy Pro Writing Aid, the program many modern authors use that does the exact same thing, just better if you have $144 for a premium subscription.
(And yes, I used em-dashes. Always have. Just look at my first novel written in 2016, before ChatGPT existed. Fuckin' deal with it!)
I don't see using a grammar checker or line editor as cheating. It's no more "cheating" than using a spellchecker, and I would bet these haters use that when typing into Discord. Sheesh, I remember when spellcheck was invented. (Yes, I am that old!) Adults said, "That's cheating, our kids are going to grow up stupid and illiterate because they don't have to know how to spell words." They shut up real quickly. Now EVERYONE uses spellcheckers... for better or for worse, duck it! LOL! And we spell no worse than Boomers.
I DO NOT use ChatGPT to write my chapters. Can you imagine how awful they would be?
ChatGPT cannot copy Voice. In other words, my unique way of writing, developed over years. For example, back in 2023, I used ChatGPT to write some April Fools fanfics, the one and only time I ever did this. I tagged the stories as ChatGPT, but many of my long-time readers hadn't noticed the tag and realized right away, this was NOT "Rhov." It wasn't my style. It was bad! The dialog was stilted. The plot fell apart at the end and turned into something cheesy.
And then at the end, I wrote "APRIL FOOLS!" You see, that was my point and my prank. It was to show just how bad predictive-text-generated stories are. (I was also quite proud to realize many of them could tell it wasn't me right away. That tells me my Author's Voice is strong.)
To these naysayers, has my Voice changed? Is my writing style suddenly different? I mean, it might have gradually evolved. I wrote Chapter One of Dangerous Territory for Nanowrimo 2015. I sure hope I'm a better writer now than I was a decade ago! But I think I'm pretty settled in my ways. I'm getting too old to change.
So in conclusion, no, I don't "write my stories with AI." But I do use it as a grammar checker. So-called AI detectors are 50% wrong and rate worse with neurodivergent people.
And if you're going to be biased against Autistics, I have two middle fingers for you.
If I need to do a livestream of my writing process to clear my name, I will. I've thought about doing it before. I just think it'd be really boring. But if it puts the rumors to rest, I will. Maybe people would like it as a bit of ASMR. I follow a writer on YouTube who does this, and I rather like going along with her. Maybe it'd also force me to focus!
Hate me for being good, but don't accuse me of being fake.
I apologize for not updating my stories for a while.
There has been a death in the family. Since I live closest, I've been put in charge of arrangements, cleanup, and the estate in general.
Trust me, I would MUCH rather be writing than going into a room where a relative died and no one found him for a while. That's a smell you don't forget.
