I can't really put it into words but I find it so depressing to be around people who refuse to grow up, who refuse to age, who refuse to act like adults. "Haha don't call me ma'am, I feel so old!" You are literally in your 50s, idk what to tell you.
And for the record I think it's fine to live life at your own pace. Changing careers in your 50s, going clubbing in your 40s, whatever. I also think it's normal to have those little moments when you realize that you are older than you thought and it feels scary and weird for a second. But aging is inevitable and denying it seems so hopeless and depressing and, frankly, pathetic.
Some women will never want children in their life in any meaningful capacity. They don't want to give birth. They don't want to adopt. They don't want to be the fun auntie. They don't want to be a godmother. They don't want to work in a field with children. They will never change a child's diaper and don't believe their lack of childcare skills is a problem that needs fixing, because childcare is not a crucial part of the human experience, with billions of people on the planet. They go about their day while only seeing kids out at the grocery store or at the park, and nothing is missing from their lives.
The refusal to accept this is driving a global right-wing backlash movement.
We are being led to our slaughter. This has been theorized in a thousand ways, described in environmental, social, and political terms, it has been prophesied, abstracted, and narrated in real time, and still we are unsure of what to do with it. The underlying point is that the progress of society has nothing to offer us and everything to take away. Often it feels like we are giving it away without a fight: when we sell our time for money, allow our passions to be commodified, invest ourselves in the betterment of society, or sustain ourselves on the spoils of ecological destruction, we openly (though not consensually) participate in our own destruction.

I'm confident I'll never feel wrong about choosing solidarity with other women over not choosing that. that's why corny posts dissecting made up decisions of a made up women will never give me pause and reconsider. like I'm deeply into seeing women as my sisters, even annoying ones I don't like. or even evil ones. you can have an evil sister. I'm not trying to evangelize a way other women should feel, I'm just saying for me I don't have trouble holding two thoughts in my mind. that a sister to me is not just a woman I like. that when i say the word sister what I'm saying is "we share blood." blood of history, and the literally blood built in the wombs of women. it's not about goodness or deservedness to me, it's about the reality of shared female culture, the reality of living as women. whether you like it or not, I see you as sharing a struggle of mine, and whether or not you contribute to our bond, I have it for you. I will gnash my teeth against it at times but I will recognize it. that's just how I feel, and I doubt I'll be swayed to think otherwise the rest of my life.
REAL masculinity is about [traits and behaviors that anyone can have that youre gendering for reasons that are ultimately misogynistic]
men made women a slave class throughout all of human history and now they'll say stupid bullshit like "men built society" like. 1. yeah no shit? if you lock a woman in a cage she's not out building roads 2. what you built SUCKS!!!!! IT SUCKS SO BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Male Hysteria is a condition where a prolonged lack of prostate stimulation causes the patient to behave eratic and promiscuous, often to the detriment of his own life and the lives of others. Unfortunately it has never been diagnosed even once because nobody cares about mens mental health
thank you leftist man for supporting women's rights to cater to you sexually no matter what. you are so brave. i also really appreciate how you criticize conservative views that keep women from being sexually available to you. as a male feminist truly you understand that the ultimate goal of feminism is for women to choose to do whatever is most convenient for your penis. you are our #1 ally.

i think it's actually really horrifying and detrimental that it's considered socially unacceptable to tell parents when they are making mistakes while raising their kids
"don't tell me how to raise my kids" is seen as a good defense and it's so disturbing to me.
children are not your property that you can do whatever you like with.
giving birth or impregnating someone or adopting doesn't give you some inherent wisdom that means you can never fuck up.
and you shouldn't have the right to abuse or neglect or misinform a child just because you have legal guardianship of them.
they deserve to have others speak up on their behalf. i don't care if it hurts your ego.
the vast majority of the time, it is all about ego and control btw.
a staggering amount of parents view their children as their property and see advice as someone trying to take away their "deserved" control.
a ton of them are more concerned with being perceived as a good parent over actually being one.
fundamentally awful shit like corporal punishment, anti vaxxing, poor homeschooling, parentification, child stars, kids being kicked out of their homes or forced into cults... all of that is possible because:
parents are allowed to have legal and social domain over their children,
parents are seen as suddenly being imbued with innate childrearing knowledge just by virtue of having a child, and
it's socially stigmatized to voice concern over a child that isn't "yours."
so much of the world's suffering is caused by this shit it's crazy.

one thing i'd like to reignite a discussion about is disability politics and serious mental health struggles, including crises, in our feminist movement. any counterculture movement has appeal to people on the edges of society, and women who deal with highly stigmatized mental disabilities of various types are no exception.
this 19 page essay is an approachable, even-handed look at what a psychotic break can look like. it's also a first-hand account of attempts by carol anne douglas' feminist community (including her partner and friends) to support her in a very intense and alarming situation, including mistakes they made. in this way, it functions as blueprint for community-based mental health support for a woman in crisis. unfortunately, most women today do not have a thriving and active community like douglas did. it's very emotional for me to mourn the loss of thriving women's community that allowed us to show up for each other in this way, now largely segmented to small friend groups or isolated couples except in rare cases.
the essay is also very psych-critical while also recognizing that some women simply are unable to function without psychiatric intervention or will choose medication during a crisis or for daily functioning. the author was firmly anti-psych and therefore her perspective as someone who went through this crisis and needed medication to come out of it is especially valuable.
