I just figured out why they do the cloak drop thing!!!

According to a ren fair swordfighter, cloaks are some of the hardest things to fight in. They’re apparently even harder to fight in than dresses are! It’s part of a massive twitter thread where this woman talks about the logistics of sword fighting in a dress. She mentioned as a side note that cloaks were more difficult because she was using Disney princess gifs to illustrate the thread and brought in the moment Elsa threw off her cloak in Frozen to prove that point. According to her, the only reason to wear a cloak to a fight is to drop it in a dramatic fashion before you start.

all this just makes me wonder tho: WHY THE FUCK??? do the jedi even wear fucking cloaks?!!! like? i get it if they aren’t usually fighting, but with Obi-Wan and Anakin especially i just don’t understand why they would literally EVER be wearing them?

the only explanation i could come up with is literally just that Obi-Wan and Anakin are overly dramatic little shits and literally only do it for effect. which, ya know, is true. but seriously ugh. i wish there had been a scene in the clone wars where they do that and Ahsoka’s just in the back shaking her head because she’s so fucking done with them
