Klaus is the absolute most accepting sibling of the Hargreeves and you can’t convince me otherwise. Finds out Ben is falling for a living member of his cult that he doesn’t know the name of? Sure Ben, you can possess me to hang with her. Finds out Allison got married to a guy from the 1960s that he met earlier that day in jail? Gets him out of jail no questions asked. He’s family. Finds out Viktor is in a situationship with a married housewife from the 1960s who he first met while she was aiming a gun at him? He’ll do everything possible to help her and her son. They’re basically family. Finds out Diego is dating a woman who tried to kill them multiple times that he met in an asylum who’s actually another magic kid from 1989? Would do anything for her. Come to family meetings, he says. She’s basically family, now. Finds out Luther is dating another Hargreeves (alternate) who also tried to kill them all at first meeting? Klaus is officiating their wedding! And finally, Five is still mourning his coping mechanism mannequin-wife? That’s rough, pal. All the love.
I love Klaus.
sometimes, it dawns on me just how incredibly happy i am that fanfic exists as a medium. like, the amount of experiences had, the excitement and thrills and tears and joy—and more—that writers of fic can give to so, so many people... it's immeasurable; and it's wonderful.
and just. what an amazing thought, you know? in a world where we're all struggling to get by, recognising this beautiful thing we have created, knowing that we're all sharing in taking some sort of pleasure/lesson/comfort etc from reading and/or writing it?
that's really special.
Someone please write a deancas AU with Jimmy as the twin
Dean Winchester had flown on an airplane exactly once in his entire life.
He’d always known he didn’t trust the things, but once the noises started and the turbulence really decided to steal the spotlight, his lungs seized up and he was ninety-nine percent sure that he had, in fact, been the recipient of a heart attack right then and there.
Nothing would ever come close to that level of sheer adrenaline and panic - but now, sitting a few tables away from Him and fiddling with a piece of paper that his own number pre-written on it… he was starting to feel dangerously close to the sky again.
Rejection was… fine. It was fine.
Hell, this wouldn’t be the first time he’d ever been rejected and it probably wouldn’t be the last - but that was all a territory he was familiar with.
Dean had been out as bisexual for a solid year at this point, and while he was pretty damn confident in himself about most things, he hadn’t done this yet.
Not with a guy.
He let out a breath and stole another glance at the man who’d nearly made him trip over himself the first time they made brief eye contact in the hallway.
Blue eyes had never felt so blue.
The guy was currently in Library Mode, as Dean had been fondly calling it in his head. His hair was adorable frazzled as he poured over a mountain of books and the wrinkled graphic-tee he sometimes wore was a reference Dean didn’t understand - and if he chewed on his lip any more often Dean was going be one hundred percent sure of another heart attack.
He liked Library Mode.
He liked him a lot.
There was also Lunch Mode.
The Lunch Mode of his favorite blue-eyed man was a more put-together version of Library Mode. His hair was combed back neatly, and he would mostly wear button-up shirts and slacks, or occasionally a very nicely pressed sweater vest.
Dean’s current theory between the two Modes was that he had a class on certain days that he was supposed to dress up for and couldn’t be bothered when he didn’t have go in.
He liked that theory, because it meant that maybe Library Mode was the true self - and Dean really liked the endearing intensity from Library Mode.
Dean licked his lips as he ran a finger along the paper he’d ripped from his notebook - the one with his number on it - and replayed the scenario in his head over and over.
I’ll just go over, say something witty, give him the number, and walk away. Yeah. I can do that. Simple enough.
Dean closed the book he’d only been pretending to read and stood up.
He was going to do this.
His feet didn’t move.
Library Mode briefly glanced in his direction from behind his fortress of books, and Dean turned on his heels and walked out of the library.
Dammit.
Next time. He’d do it next time.
-
Next time was Lunch Mode.
Dean was barely picking at the food he’d brought as he tried not to creepily stare at the man he’d become infatuated with over the past few months.
This was ridiculous.
He didn’t even know his name.
And that’s why you’re going to go talk to him, you fucking idiot, he told himself. He’s just a guy. The worst he can say is no.
Dean swallowed, and looked up again.
Lunch Mode had product in his hair and a sweater vest on today. He looked as good as always, though Dean did find himself missing the graphic tee and the mussed hair just a little. He’d always thought he seemed a little bit more approachable when he was panicking in the library along with everyone else.
Number.
He had to do it.
Dean stood with intent for the second time that week and before the rapid beating of his heart could do anything to persuade him otherwise, Dean strode over to Lunch Mode’s table and plastered on a smile he hoped didn’t look as manic as he felt.
Lunch Mode looked up, tilting his head to the side adorably.
“Can I help you?” He asked.
Dean cleared his throat.
“Uh, yes,” he fumbled for the paper and set it down next to the plate of food, “this is for you.”
Dean paused, trying to think of something - anything clever to say, but nothing came.
Instead, he nodded and walked out of the lunchroom.
That had gone well.
-
Hey! This is Jimmy from lunch! I just wanted to say that I respect your confidence to be able to come up and give me your number. You’re very attractive, but unfortunately I am straight. BUT I am an identical twin and he’s gay if you’d like his number.
Dean stared at the text message, his face growing more and more red with every passing minute.
What were the chances?
Was it rude to say yes? Was it ruder to say no? Did he want to yes or did he just want to go and dig a hole and bury himself in it for the rest of eternity?
He continued to stare at the message.
This was… technically the best possible outcome for a rejection, right? A soft no, but also a possibility with someone who looked just like him.
Dean shook his head in disbelief.
Oh god, sorry dude. But uh, honestly? Yeah that’ll work haha.
Dean sent it before he could overthink it.
Cool, I’ll let him know!
A few minutes later, he received a text from a different number.
Is this Dean?
Dean’s heart jumped into his throat as he slung his backpack over one shoulder and began walking down a school hallway, just to have something to do to get rid of all of his nervous energy.
Ha. Yeah. Are you the twin?
“The twin”. Fuck, he should have said something better.
I am the twin. If this…makes you uncomfortable I understand, you know. You don’t need to text me to be polite to my brother.
Was he a little worried about what the twin was going to be like? A little, but it wasn’t like he knew Jimmy all that well anyway. All he knew about Jimmy was that sometimes he liked a good graphic tee, and sometimes he liked to dress up a little.
Nah, it’s just funny. You go to the same school as us?
I do. I’m in the library if you’re on campus.
Dean let out a steadying breath.
Sure. Be there soon.
-
Sitting at his usual table, were two identical-looking men.
One in a sweater vest with his hair slicked back, and one in a wrinkled t-shirt and jacket with hair that looked as if fingers had been stressfully combing through it for years.
Dean gaped.
Oh.
The twins looked up at his arrival, and the better dressed one, Jimmy, smiled.
“Ah, I’ll leave you guys to it, then.”
He winked at the two of them as Dean’s brain was still scrambling to put together rest of the incredibly obvious puzzle it should have been able to see all along.
The messier twin cleared his throat awkwardly.
“Ah, hello.” He said, in a voice much lower than Jimmy’s but he couldn’t tell if it was just from disuse. “I’ve seen you around before, haven’t I?”
“There’s two of you.” Dean said, with dawning comprehension. “You’re the - there’s two.”
The twin smiled like this wasn’t the first time this had happened.
“Correct. I’m Castiel, by the way.”
Dean slowly sat down on the other side of the table and stuck out a hand once he could gather himself enough to smile in return.
“Nice to finally meet you, Castiel. I’m Dean, and I’m an idiot.”
Castiel took the offered hand and shook it once.
“Hello, Dean. Luckily for you, I like idiots.”

Purgatory
Benny has thought the angel was a woman. With how Dean said the name, he thought Castiel was a woman. How he prayed, how he forced himself through purgatory, how he killed everything that came in his way. In purgatory, nothing mattered. There were no rules and there was no one to keep the monsters in control. And almost every one of them in there needed blood. So of course Dean always got his fill on killing, which meant Benny had the privilege of seeing the pure anger and hatred and cruelty on his face. So he didn’t know what to do when Dean started praying out loud, his face visibly softening as he spoke the angels name. It started more or less the same every night:
“Cas…I need you.”
And Benny has never pegged Dean as…someone to go after more than women.
So when they saw a man kneeling over the water, his face downward and his shoulders hunched in pain, Benny never thought it could be the angel. Maybe another monster, but not an angel. It took his mind a moment to catch up when the man looked their way and the words “Cas,” slipped roughly from Deans throat. How the story was told, how Dean told it, was not like it happened. Benny has heard Dean tell it once, and had shaken his head. Because the hunter had jerked forward, pulling the man angel into his arms, his face buried in the angels clothes. The words “Cas” being pulled again from his body.
He again found himself at a loss for words when, later that night, the grey of the land turning to black, Dean let the angel pull him against his body. Dean didn’t tense, or pull away, or laugh it off. He just curled closer, his fingers tightening, biting into Cas’ flesh, breathing deeply. He didn’t know what to say, or do, when Dean whispered “I thought I’d lost you for good” under his breath to the angel. And when the angel whispered back “I’m here. I’m always here” while pulling the hunter firmer against him, Benny decided to ignore it fully. He turned away, looking into the blankness that was purgatory.
And, when he found himself being pulled back into consciousness by his body’s alertness to the black becoming grey again, he tried his best to ignore that Dean was not so much as against the angel as a part of him. He was so close, some of the angels shirt rucked up and Deans fingers digging into the dark tanned flesh there even in his sleep, it was like he was a part of Cas. He pretended not to see the angels confused look at him. He had gotten close to Dean over the time looking for the angel, but he had never felt Deans fingers dig into his flesh like he never wanted to let go. He hadn’t felt the hunter press his face into the skin of his shoulder. He hadn’t felt the hunter relax against him fully, and become vulnerable.
But he did with Cas. He relaxed, he dug his fingers into Cas’ skin at his hip, he pressed his face into the crook of the angels neck, he breathed so deep it was like he was breathing fresh air. Dean was…different…with Cas. He let himself be vulnerable.
So Benny pretend not to see.
He didn’t see it at all.

See this? This is why I believe that sex is never just sex for Dean. Let me explain.
It’s Dean that reaches up for her hand to lace their fingers. Up until this point, the interaction between these two was heated, and a little on the rough side: pulling, shoving, clothes coming off fast. And while I think Dean enjoys that, I believe he honestly craves affection and intimacy.
This is an intimate gesture, with someone he knows is a one night stand. And I believe that practically every sexual encounter Dean has ever had was his way of feeling affection and intimacy.
That’s why he looks at every woman he’s with as if she were a goddess. That’s why he’s so passionate.

do you ever think about the fact that one day, a few years from now, you’ll be watching jensen in whatever new movie or tv show he’s in, and his character will do or say something in a way that’s just oh so familiar that it’ll hit you square in the chest and put a wistful smile on your face the only thing you’ll be able to think is “hey there, dean. i miss you so much.”

Dean/Cas, Pride 🌈
“I can’t believe I let you talk me into this.”
Cas glances at Dean, who is watching warily as a float of leather daddies goes by.
“Why not?” he asks, feeling a sense of trepidation. His last boyfriend wasn’t into Pride either, didn’t like that people were ‘flaunting’ their sexuality as he’d put it.
That relationship hadn’t lasted long. Cas was hoping for something different with Dean.
“Just.” Dean shrugs. He looks like he wants to bolt but his hand is still gripping Cas’ tightly, as if afraid to lose him in the colorful crowd. “I don’t belong here.”
“Why not?” Cas repeats. “You’re part of this community. Aren’t you proud of that?”
Dean snorts. “Yeah, sure. I’m thirty-five and I’ve been out for about ten minutes. There’s kids here, and people twice my age who have been coming here since they were kids, back when this Pride thing was a whole lot more dangerous.”
Relief blossoms in Cas’ chest. He tugs Dean closer, pulling him in hip to hip. He doesn’t want Dean to miss a single word.
“I’m proud of you,” he says. “It took a lot for you to come out here today but you did.” And because he can see the side-eye Dean is giving him, the protest already forming on his lips, he ducks in close and adds quietly, “And when we get home, I’m gonna reward that bravery until you can’t remember your own name.”
Dean shuts his mouth with a snap, cheeks going pink.
“…If you insist,” he finally mumbles.
Cas smiles, and turns his attention back to the festivities.
