Dean Winchester: ghost hunter extraordinaire! Call now for all your paranormal needs!
He cringes at the flyer. Itās tacky and cliche, but Sam insisted it would bring in more customers. And dammit, if he wasnāt rightāthis new case sounds like a doozy.
Deanās a medium with a unique gift of being an empath. Seeing and speaking with the dead is as normal to him as speaking with his brother, Sam. A new job leads him to Georgia, Castiel Novak, and a historical home thatās tucked away on a mountain. As he investigates, he not only uncovers the secrets of his clientās family, but also one of own that he may not recover from. One that has the potential to destroy the budding relationship that is quickly forming between him and Castiel. Will they make it through to see the light on the other side? Or will the darkness that surrounds the home claim them as itās next victims?
Scintilla; a short story about life, death, love, and friendships.
āWho are you?ā His voice sounds raspy, and his throat hurts from coughing, but he manages to get that much out.
āDean, help me, please.ā Her request is the same. She never asks anything more of him than his help. The only difference is this time he will ask the questions he needs answered.
āI canāt help you if I donāt know how,ā Dean replies as he picks himself up slowly from the ground. Thereās soil clinging to the knees of his pants, but he doesnāt bother wiping it away. āWhy do you keep showing up in my dreams?
āYouāre the only one who can help me.ā She moves in closer, causing Dean to take a step back.
āHow do you know me?ā
Frustration flashes over her face. āThereās no time to explain.ā
āThat doesnāt answer my question.ā
Her mouth opens, but nothing comes out, and frustration flashes through her eyes. Her hands clench at her sides and she closes them into fists. āHelp me!ā This time the request doesnāt come out as a plea. Her voice shakes with thinly concealed anger. āPlease, help me.ā
He isnāt sure who sheās angry with, but he doesnāt want to stick around and find out. āI donāt know how to help you.ā
She reaches out for him, but she doesnāt make contact. āHelp me,ā she screams. The sheer volume is piercing, and she moves her hand up to the sky and lets out a screech.
The peach tree nearest to Dean engulfs in flames, quickly spreading to the next one. He spins on his heel and takes off running. As he tries to escape, the entire orchard catches fire. Itās getting harder to see with the smoke and his lungs are screaming for clean air. Heās not paying attention to where heās going, so itās not surprising when he trips over a rock, hitting the ground with a hard thud. When he pulls himself back up, his eye catches the woman. Sheās beside him and this time when she reaches out, she grabs a hold of his arm.
The world turns white as excruciating pain shoots through his entire body.
