"They have never interacted in canon" TO YOU I've seen them kiss though
The previous warm feeling retreated slightly, it saddened them a bit to think about, but but at the same time it made sense. What actually being a parent entailed wasn't exactly written down anywhere for easy reference and they could imagine in his eagerness to have someone to pass their culture on to, forgetting things in the process.
But now it was their turn for reassurances. "Well for starters, nobody's a perfect parent, not even the Avatar." They said with a lopsided grin. "You were a kid who was getting attention from your dad and were just enjoying that with him so you didn't know." They sighed slowly before continuing. It wasn't exactly ideal to dwell on the possibility if they were there things could've been different but they wanted to push on. At the very least maybe their perspective could help, even a little bit.
"He had a lot of responsibility...one that I wasn't exactly able to stick around for and help. He was always passionate about his culture but sometimes tended to...overfocus...neglect other things. It was the one thing about him that worried me sometimes," they admitted.
"I admired him a lot, and of course I still do. He wasn't just my father; he was the Avatar." He paused, reflecting. "I wanted to be just like him: a leader, a protector, a loving father. I've always put him on a pedestal, but that's because I believed he truly deserved it. It stings to think of him as less than the perfect model I imagined him to be."
Tenzin shook his head, bringing himself back to the present. "What's done is done. He might have had a few flaws, but we all do. He's still a hero and a good man." Tenzin refused to let anyone's perspective of his father change his opinion of him, not even his siblings.
Haru listened to Tenzin, and smiled towards the end. If they thought about it, in a lot of ways Tenzin reminded them of Aang; the way he didn't waver in seeing the good in people despite their flaws.
"He really was the best. He taught me to embrace bad situations, and make something good from it. Maybe that's what I can do here." Their tone was more hopeful than it was before. Almost the most it's been since they first arrived.
"Since Korra learned airbending, for once I kinda felt...lost.." They said. "But now I think want to help with what Aang started, continue it. Whatever that means doing. Who knows, could be more fun with the two of us," they said nudging his side with a familiar playful grin.
The talk they clearly had helped improve their mood and now that they had faced at least some of their inner turmoil the itch to explore the rest of the temple returned.
They absorbed every word he spoke about Aang seeing they had missed so much of his life, so hearing stories from Tenzin was the next best thing.
This particular tidbit matched exactly the Aang they remembered and their smile widened. "Yeah, that was him alright. I think my favorite was seeing how high each of us could go with our airbending. We both weren't exactly fans of training so it was a great middle ground. We'd hit our hand in the dirt and then see who could leave a mark on the ceiling of whatever tall building we were in." Their gaze grew incredibly fond-looking at the memory. "He sounds like he was a good dad. Fun too." Haru commented a warm feeling settling in their chest knowing he grew up to be a caring and fun dad to his kids.
There was a gleam in Tenzin's eye and a slight smile under his goatee as Haru described a game he and his father also used to play.
"He was a good dad. An excellent one." He lifted his head and forced the corners of his mouth down defensively. But who was he trying to convince? Not Haru.
He reflected on yesterday's events with his siblings and sighed. "But not everyone feels that way. While he invested a lot of time and care in my upbringing, preparing me for my responsibilities, it seems Bumi and Kya were neglected in the process. It's hard to believe because I know he loved us all the same. However..." Tenzin paused in thought as he questioned sharing this much. "It seems I misremembered some things, and now I'm not sure what to think."
The previous warm feeling retreated slightly, it saddened them a bit to think about, but but at the same time it made sense. Haru's tense posture relaxed at the hand on their shoulder. Hearing his reassurance was nice. It didn't immediately ease the guilt that had been eating away at them the past month or so but it helped.
"Thanks Tenzin." they said earnestly. Their gaze landed on the statue and to their surprise it didn't hurt as much to look at as it did before. "Part of me still can't believe he managed to do all this." It pained them slightly to remember their promise to him but they were amazed and proud nonetheless.
Walking closer to the statue, Haru grinned upon realizing. "I guess he did end up growing taller than me, I owe Toph one." They joked with a laugh. "There was one summer after we beat Ozai, Aang was insisting that he'd be taller one day and Toph joined in the bet." They clarified smiling at the memory.
Tenzin listened earnestly as Haru shared their story of Aang and his friends. "He was tall," Tenzin agreed. "Although, I'd say his statues tend to exaggerate his height." He reasoned it was the artist's way of glorifying his father.
He peered into the statue's eyes and found them rather lacking. They didn't capture Aang's ebullient spirit, unlike Haru's memory. "My father loved to make games out of everything. It was fun for awhile, but as I got older I found them childish and a distraction to my responsibilities. After having children of my own, I've since learned to appreciate more that part of him."
They absorbed every word he spoke about Aang seeing they had missed so much of his life, so hearing stories from Tenzin was the next best thing.

Because your local floofer actually forgot to repost it, I may as well do it since someone politely reminded me!!
I'm sure you all know how these work, but in case you're new ( or living under a rock, who knows ), but let's do it anyway!
LIKING this post will tell me I'm allowed to do the following things:
➤ Send starters, prompted & unprompted asks to your muse(s). ➤ Add your Discord ( if you have one! ) ➤ Make graphics ( promos, headcanons, drawings ) of our muses. ➤ Send shipping / fluff things to your muse. ⤷ ( totally & completely optional, this can be family based, platonic or romantic based! All are welcome here. ) ➤ I can tag you in my musings / visage posts if your muse is a part of it. ➤ Basically come to you to write, bother your muse or just be a friend, someone you can confide in, someone you can tell all your RP desires to, and hopefully I can fulfil some of them! ➤ Reblog asks to turn them into threads ( also optional, I know this isn't everyone's cup of tea! ).
There are probably bits I'm missing, but that's the general things! I ask these because the last thing I want to do is feel like I'm overstepping or intruding into your space. I want my blog to feel like a safe space for you and for me, so I like to make sure certain things are okay!
The last one — starters can be a HUGE struggle for me to write and sometimes continuing asks into threads is so much easier and can be a LOT of fun, but I know it isn't for everyone, so it's totally optional!
And this means you're absolutely allowed to do the same! Every single point applies to you as it does to me. You don't need to ask me at all, whether it's making / asking for starters, sending asks in, making art, HCs or verses with our muses, asking for my Discord — liking this post literally just gives you that permission! I want us interacting as much as hecking possible. ♡
reblogging as a sideblog but i'd love to! :)
"So do you," they replied with a half-hearted smile, an attempt at their usual one sided banter. "I just keep finding myself in this room. It's a lot to process now that I'm actually...here.." It was one thing to be on Air Temple Island. It was entirely another to be a place they had visited with Aang discussing the future of their shared culture. A place where almost every turn something reminded them of him.
There was something about Tenzin that made opening up surprisingly easy for Haru. Things that had been building up the past few days were slowly starting to spill out. "I felt like maybe I had moved on...well this whole thing proved that I didn't." Haru said with a bitter laugh.
They let out a slow sigh. "I think I miss him the most. Not that I don't miss Sokka or Suki any less," Haru added. "It was just different with Aang." They looked slightly up at him with a sad smile.
Empathizing with their struggle, Tenzin put a hand on Haru's shoulder. "You're being too hard on yourself."
"Loss of a loved one is a difficult thing to experience. That feeling can come up no matter how long ago it happened. That doesn't negate the healing you've done." Tenzin folded his hands behind his back at looked up at Aang's statue. "In fact, I don't view it as 'moving on'. Rather, I let the emotion come and go as it does, approaching it with patience and compassion. And over time, it happens less often."
Haru's tense posture relaxed at the hand on their shoulder. Hearing his reassurance was nice. It didn't immediately ease the guilt that had been eating away at them the past month or so but it helped.

The Southern Air Temple
Ever since they had arrived at the Southern Air Temple Haru had felt a growing pit in their stomach. It felt like a chasm almost, opening wider and wider each hour they spent here.
For the most part so far they had kept up appearances for the kids, running around with Ikki and Meelo, reading texts and exploring different rooms with Jinora. But they weren't fine. No amount of learning more about their culture or the burst of pride they occasionally felt seeing the work Aang had accomplished could make it go away. They didn't know if their act had worked on the rest of the adults there but couldn't bring themselves to worry enough if it didn't.
Maybe this was a bad idea after all and they should've just stayed with Korra from the start.
For the millionth time during the trip they found themselves in the statue room and as painful looking at his statue was it brought a strange sense of comfort to Haru.
Footsteps and a sudden presence made them jump slightly, turning to see none other than Tenzin. "Oh, hey Tenzin," they greeted trying for their usual friendly smile and laid back tone.
@airteacher
Tenzin's spirits were a little low. Korra had fired him. His mother twisted his arm into letting his siblings and Haru join him when it was supposed to be just his family (his nuclear family, that is). And even though he found Ikki and resolved things with his siblings, he was still having trouble believing he had misremembered those vacations with Aang. Was his view of his father and his childhood that distorted? To think his reality might not be so real was jarring.
Seeking refuge from these troubling thoughts, Tenzin found himself strolling the grounds. Then he came upon the statue room. He took a few steps toward Aang's visage and stopped upon seeing Haru's concerning expression. He contemplated giving the young adult some space, but was spotted by them before he could act.
"Haru." Tenzin stepped up to their side. "You look troubled."
"So do you," they replied with a half-hearted smile, an attempt at their usual one sided banter. "I just keep finding myself in this room. It's a lot to process now that I'm actually...here.." Notice
Hey guys i'm really sorry for vanishing off the face of the earth, I just, I don't feel that spark/connection while writing for Haru anymore. I doesn't help that my hyper-fixation on ATLA/LOK kinda fizzled out as of late
Idk if I'll continue writing for them or not, maybe I'll return someday eventually but I'm not sure. I'll definitely be continuing certain threads with a few friends here whenever my muse for them strikes again but idk about any new ones atm.
For now I just wanted to apologize and especially thank @prxdigalprincess, @the-sleuthy-one, @airbookworm, @likeagcrl, @finnsmuses, @sinners-saintsandsaviors, @shxrikenjxtsu, @far-away-home, and a few now inactive blogs for making me feel so welcome in the ATLA rp community and giving my OC so much fucking love. I'd love to continue writing with any of y'all in the future too <3

Haru listened, expression falling during Azula’s descriptions. Anger and sheer rage bubbled beneath the surface, once more for the umpteenth time resisting the urge to rush back to the palace and make Ozai pay themselves.
But they kept their expression gentle, humming often in acknowledgement while they rubbed small comforting circles on her hands. They felt honored that this girl who had been through so much, trusted them with all of this. The airbender didn’t even know how to begin how to feel about how…strangely almost…mature these kids had all become.
Just another side affect of the war, their brain supplied helpfully as they bit back a sigh of frustration.
Spirits honestly what had this war done to them all really? Force them to live amongst the chaos and horror as if normal, force them to grow up so quickly and not give them a second of peace during it all? Leave both emotional and physical scars far too deep to even begin to heal?
So instead they smiled giving her shoulder a tiny squeeze. “I think you’re right Azula…and…thank you for telling me all of this, I know it can’t be exactly easy..”
“It isn’t easy,” Azula agreed, looking up at them. “But that’s where the importance of personal strength come in. We have to be strong enough to not keep it all to ourselves, sometimes. When there’s someone you can tell.”
She chuckled bitterly at that, and leaned against Haru a bit. “When there’s no one to tell… the strength keeps you from blowing up under it all. Sometimes you do blow up, though. Then you spend a while trying to build yourself back up…”
Azula paused then, and she took a deep breath, then sighed. “Doesn’t help when the people who claim to want to help only ever make it worse. How do you build yourself back up from that?”
She figured that you didn’t. Truthfully, she figured the best she could do was what she had done. She’d survived. All of this, and she was still around, still able to cause Hell for those who had put her where she was. Maybe that spite was what had kept her going. Maybe it was the idea that she could be okay again one day.
But in the end, did it matter? Not to her, not really. She lived. That’s what mattered.
They smiled, warm and genuine. They all came out alive and had come so far from the start of all this. Yes the circumstances for having to quickly mature and grow up weren't exactly ideal, they mused, but in the end, it ultimately benefited them all in a way, bringing the group closer than before through all the trauma.
Something akin to pride expanded their chest while listening to Azula, she had come the most far since the start, and once again they felt honored to be able to have been able to be a part of it.
At the most likely more rhetorical question, the airbender tilted their head thoughtfully. "I think...I know I don't have all the answers; I'm no Aang," they jested, "but I do believe even with all that if you find the right people to build you back up, that are real and genuine in everything they do, you will. With time of course; it's an uphill battle but you'll get there," Haru finished giving their entwined hands another affectionate squeeze.
The pair got caught in the rain on the way back from the market because of course they did. Sighing Haru stuck a hesitant hand from where they and Sokka huddled inside a nearby abandoned house.
"Guess the other's will have to wait a bit then." They huffed, a tad annoyed with the situation.
(from the prompt: send 🌩 for our muses to be stranded in a storm together) @official-haru-omi
A loud, exasperated, drawn-out groan escaped erupted from Sokka’s mouth as stared outside at the rain, glaring furiously at the sky as if that would somehow scare the clouds away. “This is just great.” He tugged his hair out of its topknot, furiously squeezing the water out with his fists. “Now, the others are gonna have to wait for us, for who knows how long, which means we’re gonna be behind schedule!” Outside, thunder rumbled and growled like a savage beast; then, a loud clap of thunder, startling the teen briefly. He turned and glared out the broken window again, as if it did it on purpose, muttering to himself. “I thought the Fire Nation was supposed to be hot and dry.”
@official-haru-omi
They sighed, although there was fond exasperation to it. "Zuko probably mentioned it at some point but to be fair there was a lot going on at the time," Haru said chuckling.
It was a last-minute decision, something very similar to the nature of the group to stay at his family's old abandoned vacation home. A place although hesitant at first, ended up being a good base of operations with a courtyard to spar and everything.
Haru scrunched their nose thoughtfully. "I wonder if Katara or Aang could even bend this kind of extreme stuff; like make some sort of area around us where the rain wouldn't fall," the airbender mused.

official-haru-omi:
“So polite and well-mannered,” the woman praised before turning around and giving Haru a mischievous look. “I wonder where was all this when you were around her age running around like a wild ostrich-horse with no saddle-”
The airbender over-dramatically groaned in embarrassment cutting her off, burying their face in their hands. Although they only did so to hide the giant grin on their face.
Their Aunt Fani chuckled before standing up again, expression turning a bit more serious.
“So, Haru, what brought you to finally come home?”
They let out a quiet sigh before their aunt could tease anything about ‘giving your ever ageing and lonely aunt a visit…’ etc.
“It’s complicated…” Haru said after a moment, pausing. They honestly didn’t know how much they wanted to say aloud considering the rumors of the Da Li growing in force and numbers.
Their aunt hummed thoughtfully. “Why don’t you tell me over lunch then hmm? That is if your friend would like to join us as well of course,” she said shooting a warm smile over her shoulder as she headed back to the kitchen.
Toph chuckled at the way their aunt gave Haru a hard time, and at their over the top reaction to her doing so. somehow, she got the feeling that they weren’t actually embarrassed about it, and were likely just playing around. It certainly seemed that way to her, at least, if the vibrations in the floor were any indication.
She perked up a little when she was invited to stay for lunch. “I’d love to stay for lunch, ma’am.” Besides, it’d be rude to refuse you’ve been directly invited to stay for lunch, right? She stepped a little further into the house, not for the first time wishing she’d grown up like this instead of being sheltered like some porcelain doll.
But now was not the time to dwell on that, so she’d do her best not to.
“Here, you can go ahead take a seat over here Toph while Haru and I finish up ok?” And with a smile she lead her niece into the kitchen.
Tolo barked making his way over, enthusiastically nudging the earthbender to where the table was and pulling back a chair for her to sit in.
He then plopped next to her panting happily like an overgrown puppy, tail wagging back and forth like crazy.
A few seconds later Haru ambled over carrying a few plates and laughed as they took notice of their companion.
“Look at you being such a good boy,” they cooed giving him a fond scratching behind the ears. A more distant look crossed their eyes as it hit them. After this...where would they go? Could they even bring Tolo with them?
Probably not. As much as it would hurt for both parties it would at least keep him and Ona safe.
Glancing at Toph a small smile played at their lips as they sat across from her. “Thank you,” they murmured after a moment. “It means a lot that you came with me...to be honest, I was kinda unsure and nervous about coming back here.” A bittersweet chuckle escaped the airbender as their gaze fell back down.
HI so life is hell right now and I know I owe replies to @likeagcrl @shxrikenjxtsu @ofwatertribes and a couple others i promise they’re coming and ty for being so patient with me
