Formal introduction to my current (and probably favorite dnd character I’ve played to date).
Jax Hartley, the Artificer
A drifter before and after the Fleshmachine crawled its way across the land, taking anything it could get its proverbial hands on. Jax is a reserved but caring person whose only goal after the world ended was to find his brother, Ethan. Left alone after finding his parents assimilated to the flesh, Ethan was his only hope of having anything left from before.
Jax has an affinity for all things fire, most of the spells he uses being based in flame. But this flame is also something that changes him forever, after learning the grizzly fate of his brother. Jax had finally found Ethan, though not in the way he had hoped. Nestled away in the wastes, Jax and his fellow survivors happened upon a quaint farm house, with the help of a magical object that would lead to what one desired most. In the garden he found Ethan, a petrified stature in a garden of many of those who had fallen to the flesh. The fire he held so closely consumed Jax, singeing the skin of his hands and arms, leaving them cracked and smoldering like the burning tree of a wildfire. Burning just under the skin, glowing through the cracks and scars across his body, leaving his iris’ flickering like a lit candle.
With the treacherous road laid ahead, Jax carries the weight of being the only one left of his family and having the fate of the rest of the dying world in his and his friend’s hands. Longing for it all to finally be over.
