These labyrinthine streets of Hive City were certainly difficult to get your mind around. It seemed regardless of where you went, a new area yet unexplored would be revealed. Which was why Zevran had taken to spending the day mentally mapping his surroundings, marking potential escape routes- potential areas where he’d be in danger. After all, he had learned that knowing your surroundings could be the difference between life and death. He even tried to keep an ear out for details, seeing as people who had been here longer would have a far better idea of the layout, and they may know of the more hidden areas too. Yet as he paced the streets, something rather unexpected happened.
Was that a familiar flash of skin, of feathers that he caught in the corner of his eye? If it was what he thought then… Whirling around on his heel, Zevran found himself nigh on face to face with a rather frustrated looking Morrigan. Acting on impulse the assassin’s eyes widened, speedily ducking down and stepping to the side- far out of the Witch’s reach.
Well, what else did she expect when she approached him, staff brandished as though she wished to strike him with it?!
Instantly the assassin raised his a hand up defensively, the other going to reach for the wooden sword sheathed against his back.
“Whatever it is, I did not do it.” He stated, a slight edge of disbelief to his tone. Really he wasn’t expecting to see Morrigan here in the first place, and on top of that, he probably had done something to invoke her ire. “Unless this is finally payback for the time you decided to bear your innocent side to me, my dear.”
Well, she hardly seemed happy back when she caved into his flirting, only to find it was for a bet. Yes, it was harsh, but perhaps he also meant what he said. Not that she’d ever believe that, but he knew a beautiful woman when he saw one. Regardless, that was the only explanation he could think of, of why she’d go and threaten to hit him when they hadn’t even spoken to each other yet. So standing there, sword now in hand, Zevran narrowed his gaze, giving her a very slight smile.
“But have I ever told you what wonderful eyes you have, hmm?”
It was one way to try and wriggle his way out of this situation in the least. It did however, raise the question of if it’d even work.
Whatever is is... He didn't do it...?
That wasnt the first thing she expected to be said from the assassin, but then again, it certainly wasn't the last thing she expected either.
Standing still and silent for a moment, Morrigan listened to the familiar voice of the elf in front of her. Of course he'd be here, she couldn't go two minutes without listening to his frivolous stories. Though watching as he was trying to wriggle out of her obviously annoyed state, the mage couldn't help but narrow her gaze towards the other. Yes, he'd managed to get her to cave to his 'charms' before, but did he really need to bring it up!?
If anything, he was digging himself a deeper hole.
She took a glance at the sword in his hand, frowning for a moment at the wooden copy of the metal she was used to seeing him use in combat. Heaving a heavy sigh in defeat, the attack she had originally planned turned into a softer bap to the head with her staff. Obviously she was acting a little too harshly, even if it was Zevran she was speaking to.
"My eyes are..." She went to respond to the compliment, but with a swift shake of her head, she soon changed the subject, she wasn't going to be a part of one of the party bets again. How humiliating! "Never mind. Your weapons. What happened to them? Have you been here long?" Really, she wasn't aiming to ask questions, but at this point, she was completely clueless as to what everything was and how everything worked.
Not that she'd ever admit that much to Zevran.
But right now, she needed as much information as she could get. And if the elf so much as dared to ask for anything in return for simple information then he could find himself laying limp beneath a spider's body for all she cared.
