#you know what i love about this show?#everything.#i love everything about this show.#but you know what i love about this gifset in particular?#….still everything goddamn it uh#HERE’S A THING THAT’S IN THESE PICTURES I WANT TO TALK ABOUT#this like so many facets of their relationship in this series feels so true to the canon for me#like to a certain extent we never see the true depths of holmes’ – tenderness? is i guess what i want to say – towards watson#because watson is narrating (in the books i mean) and i think partially he doesn’t see it and partially – maybe mostly – it’s for them#and not part of the story#but it’s visible in the books in all the ways it’s not visible; you know?#in the way watson talks about holmes with this incredible fondness even when he’s a menace#in the way watson is the more overtly caring of the two but you can tell just by his tone that he’s well cared for#so i LOVE#THIS#because like joan is always the one doing the overt stuff you know#taking care of sherlock when he’s hurt and calling him on pain or emotion he’s hiding#watching his back professionally and in terms of where his heart is constatly; just all the time#and sherlock does this.#might not have eaten for days himself but makes her food and makes it easy for her to eat it#he’s not doing it for praise or attention or gratitude – goes out of his way to avoid these things because#watson deserves to be well cared for#doesn’t need to be; can absolutely take care of herself#but just deserves for being who she is – the incredible person that she is – all she does for him#to have things unfold before her; to turn around and have things the way she’d have made them herself#it’s a thank you and an i love you and a plea for her to stay all at once and it KILLS ME EVERY TIME (via gyzym)
