So, this is me ranting about a little something I've seen, and I just wanted to express my opinion. I don't mean to offend anyone, I hate hurting other people's feelings. This is my personal opinion.

The thing goes that a few days ago, while scrolling, I saw a post joking about how Karura (the sand sibs' mom) gave Gaara all her love in the form of his absolute sand defense/shield, while Kankuro and Temari got nothing from her. Now, my opinion is not about Karura only having ever been shown 'loving' Gaara. I don't resent her for that or anything. She's more of a plot device in Gaara's tragic backstory than a full-fledged character herself, and there's always plenty of fics out there of her bonding with her elder kids, that actually make her a character. That is okay. Fanfic authors are great, and I appreciate them for it! This is not about Karura at all. It's about the comments attached to that post. It was the people justifying it as "Well, maybe Kankuro and Temari never got anything from their mom to make up for the fact their childhoods weren't that tragic, and were actually okay, for ninja standards." Which baffled me.

Now, yeah, maybe those comments were meant as jokes. But even if they were jokes, it was still very apparent to me that the commenters genuinely believed Kankuro and Temari had nice, good childhoods. I also hold nothing against the people who left those comments, I respect their opinions! Kankuro and Temari were being compared to Gaara, and yeah, anyone's tragic childhoods would fall short when compared to that. I just wanted to clarify that Kankuro and Temari never had it easy by any means.

In fact, I'm sure that when looking objectively at it, I would even go as far as to make the bold claim that K and T had it rougher than Naruto growing up. After all, at age 12, Naruto already had a bunch of people who cared about his well-being. Teuchi, the Ramen guy and his daughter Ayame, Iruka, who was legit like his big brother, Kakashi, Sasuke, Sakura, after she got to know him better, and the other Leaf kids would at least, tolerate him.

Who did Kankuro and Temari have when they were 12? No one but each other, I'll tell you that. No mom, their dad was more than likely forced into neglecting them and viewing them as soldiers, the same as any other Suna shinobi, pushed by his grief and his position as leader of a rapidly declining village. Their uncle was absent due to being tasked with caring for their demon brother and later killed, too. And their little brother, a demon with a mind so broken he'd threaten and maim anyone who'd even look at him wrong. On top of that, add that they, in all likelihood, also had no friends due to their circumstances. They were GAARA'S SIBLINGS, after all. Who'd get close to them, knowing that approaching Tem and Kank could more than certainly lead to your lifespan shortening cause it'd mean getting closer to Gaara by association. especially after the 3 siblings were put on the same team. Not to mention that Kankuro ended up becoming a bully with anger issues as a way to cope with his trauma, and I can imagine that Temari would've become a bully as well, in her own way. I ask you, knowing all that: who would dare approach them in those circumstances?

So now, add to that: what if Kankuro and Temari ever fought or had an argument as pre-teens? Siblings argue all the time, but these two only ever had each other in the whole world! If they ever argued, leading to them not talking to each other for a while, I'm telling you, the loneliness they would've experienced then could only be compared to Sasuke's. Sasuke! The most tragic character in the show! And Kanks' and Tems' loneliness could certainly be compared to his if they ever fought over anything, since you know, they had no one else in the world looking out for them or their safety.

Kankuro and Temari wouldn't even start getting their lives in any kind of order and finally attain a bit of normalcy until they were 15-16, respectively. I would say, one year after the chunin exams, cause I can't imagine the year following that fiasco would've been easy for them, especially with them becoming totally orphaned pariahs, too. At that age, Naruto had already beaten Pain and was considered the Leaf hero, with all those Leaf hypocrites kissing his feet cause he saved their lives.

So, yeah, Kankuro and Temari did have a worse childhood than Naruto when you think about it. I'm really sorry, I didn't mean to compare traumas like this was the Olympics or something, but I just needed a method to prove how harsh their circumstances were, and alas, comparing them to the main character was the best way to prove my point. I'm not saying or even concluding that Naruto's childhood was a happy one by any means. It's just that Tem and Kank were just as lonely, if not more so, in my opinion, at least.

It's just that I'm so surprised every time I see anyone affirm that Kank and Tem had easy childhoods, that I had to write this. Kank and Tem had to survive Gaara going Berserk Shukaku on the village after Yashamaru's crazy murder attempt on him, at 7 and 8 years old!! At those tender ages, they had to contend with their uncle dying, their baby brother turning into desert Satan and wrecking their village to fine sand dust, destroying buildings and in all likelihood killing some of their friends in the process (which also begs repeating: how many kids were left in Suna their age, who would want to approach Tem and Kank after they all saw Gaara do all that? None, obviously). That's, I'm sure, one of the most traumatizing events any kid in Naruto must've had to go through. You can't deny that.

Also, I know I sound like I'm blaming Gaara, and I want to assure you that I'm not. I also know that objectively, he had it way worse, and it's all their dads' and the councils' faults. It's just an objective fact that due to Gaara's childhood being as effed up as it was, his siblings' childhoods were also going to be super effed up as a result of just.... being related to him.

Yeah, my rant is over now. I apologize if I offended anyone. I just wanted to clarify, from my point of view at least, how cruel their childhoods were. They didn't even have childhoods, damn it. And it's about time that more people started acknowledging that.

Actually so agree with the tags on this. I love the Rtte fandom is still active but I hate how they are towards Heather specifically

I STILL see people mad about Heather going on a revenge quest when she didn’t know dagur was her brother and had it confirmed he 100% killed her entire village. Like what do you want her to do just go join up with Hiccup a guy she knew him and the riders for like 2 days beforehand? She probably didn’t even have a way to get to them immediately after but even if she did she doesn’t know them well enough to know they’d also hate Dagur, let alone supportive of her situation.

Or worse when she joins the dragon hunters and falls for Viggo’s trap, the fandom gives her so much shit for it and it actually annoys me because one moment “Oh heather is such a mary sue she’s just too perfect” the next its “Oh I can’t believe she was so stupid or impulsive not even think of X y or Z” you can’t have it both ways, you can’t say Heather is a mary sue who survives everything, has no flaws and is treated like she’s perfect and that she’s actually an idiot who should have held back on her impulses and seen everything coming especially people manipulating her.

Yes, yes, exactly! Heather is a complex and multifaceted character! She has a lot of flaws and makes a lot of mistakes. But it’s also so unfair for her to get this shit from the fandom given her past and her trauma. Sorry she’s not a “perfect survivor” and has a lot of angst and anger and emotions over it! Yeah, sorry, but I can understand wanting to go on a revenge spree to kill the man who massacred your village and family. Imagine the horrors she faced when that happened. Imagine.

So yeah, give Heather some fucking slack. She’s a messy character and that’s what I love so much about her.

The sheer irony of Viggo knocking over the Chief Maces and Talons piece in his introductory monologue. He becomes the Accomplice piece in Triple Cross, but he was Chief at one point. There’s just so much symbolic foreshadowing in the Maces and Talons episodes. It’s fun to rewatch and spot all this with the knowledge that that motif is going to carry on with Viggo throughout the entirety of the show.

One of the very few kinks Valentino does NOT have is any variant of "person he's fucking isn't fully aware of what's happening". Somno, any sort of intoxication, person being passed out, that sort of thing. As cruel as he is, when he wants to other party to have a good time, it's good, and when he's in the mood to take whatever he wants despite protests, well, he'll make them cum whether they like it or not, so it's not a bad experience by his logic.

"But isn't his main thing drugging people–" EXACTLY! That's the punishment. What's the point of fucking someone when that someone won't experience it fully and react accordingly. It's boring and predictable. There's no fun in fucking someone just laying there motionless and taking it with the attitude of a fleshlight. It's BORING! Bringing back the headcanon that he sees anything, sex included, as art. If the person he's with is out of their mind it's like he's painting but the brush strokes are all perfectly even and smooth, the paper has no texture, the blended colors are a gradient void of an artistic touch. Sure, he damn well knows Angel and almost all of his movie stars are high as kites and dissociate during filming, but when he's doing the fucking those people should actually pay attention and be fully aware. And sure, when we're talking about someone being tipsy on a few shots or mildly high it's whatever, beggers can't be choosers

Yes that causes issues for his enjoyment. And that's why he loves Vox and Angel so much – Vox isn't affected by his saliva because duh he's a machine, and Angel has high enough of a tolerate to drugs in general that it's passable

Another example on Al's inability to actually read people and instead just use what's so painfully in front of him is Charlie.

During ep 7 he toys with Charlie's emotions on the one thing she is very open about. The fact that Vaggi is an exorcist and Adam and the angel's r coming in one month for yet another extermination. He then pokes and prods at her until he manages to get a deal out of her in exchange for information.

Now while Al is trying to manipulate her he just doesn't do it successfully? Idk to me it always felt like Al manages to get Charlie on his side for the barest of minimum interactions. She obviously cares about him, but she very clearly recognizes the truth about him. She knows he's doing all of this for his own good while simultaneously genuinely wanting to help her. (we can go back and forth on this all day but I think it's clear that as much as Al is annoyed by Charlie he still cares bc he goes above and beyond in a way he doesn't have to, at least in s1). and when he decides to stop doing that in s2, she kinda just lets him? She goes to comfort Emily instead of Alastor bc that entire season Al has made it extremely clear he does not want or need Charlie's help and she recognizes that.

All of this shows that despite Charlie maybe falling for Al's tricks, he does not have her down to a knack. He doesn't truly know or understand her.

Whereas Vox from the moment he met Charlie truly was emotionally toying with her. He recognized from the get go the weaknesses in the hotel and with Charlie's logic herself, which is why he waits for the whole redemption attempt to fall completely apart. He constantly brings up her mother and brings up how much of a failure Lillith would've considered her. All things that clearly impact Charlie far more than whatever Al was trying to get at with her daddy issues and hotel issues. Also things she keeps much more hidden. Charlie openly spoke about her daddy issues but she kept Lilith much more to herself and only really discussed the weight her absence had on her with Vaggi.

Vox was able to get to Charlie's core to the point that she fully accepted her defeat and no doubt would've been in huge trouble if it wasn't for the fact that Vox will never put anything or anyone over Alastor and had to deal with him instead.

Vox's ability to exploit Charlie and actually doing it well whereas Alastor had a few poor attempts that didn't work shows how different they are. How whatever they pride themselves on is actually what the other is able to do. Vox can read people but Alastor can read Vox.

In a way for all the flack Alastor gave Vox and the way it made Vox doubt himself, he actually wasn't right about anything. Vox did manage to get Charlie to her lowest, get himself to heaven. The only thing he was right about was that Vox was broken from the start and no victory would ever be enough.

I'm shocked I haven't seen anyone talk about how Husk and Valentino are really perfect foils for eachouther.

There similarity- There both winged pansexuals with substance abuse isues. They both run unsavory business and they both actively disturbe the thing there addicted to. This all proves that thoughs things aren't what makes Val like that.

There diffrents- Husk is very introspective. He is not immune to geting worked up but he cares more about outher people than his ego.

He wants to see outhers succeed even if he believes he can't. He also knows how to pull back he doesn't try to control outher people.

Val only cares about his own feelings and what will make him feel better right now. He is all ego, he needs to be the strongest, prettiest, most important person in the room.

He doesn't give a fuck about outher people's emotions untill it efects him. He trys to control everyone and he lashes out at everyone and everything when he's upset.

Oh also the way Husk thinks he doesn't desver love or to be saved but Val thinks he does desver love despite not giveing anyone a reason to.

Finally, a trend that I actually like..

I liked it because of how well it captures the atmosphere of the cartoon the colorful, vibrant picture hides genocide, oppression, humiliation, and all the horrors that Toffee had to go through.. If the animated series was at least somewhat lenient toward the monsters, then they didn't present his death as a joke.. No matter how much evil he caused, he didn't do more evil than what others did to him..

There were quite a few radiostatic headcanons pre-season 2 that came true (they were fr*ends, Vox had a crush, Alastor actually liked him, their dynamic is crazy complicated with violence and unspoken requited feelings). There were some that weren't true (Alastor having a vendetta against Valentino, Vox being solely sexually driven towards Alastor (that mf is in waaaay deeper than that).

But nobody, nobody could have predicted that Vox would strap Alastor to a swivel chair that he would gleefully spin around in for half the damn season.
