helping deal with our fear of spiders and leaving them be by saying "What would Anonsee say" and knowing they help take care of the other bugs in the apartment
Asks like this always make me really happy bc over the past few years a lot of people use me to help deal with their arachnophobia!! They'll say things like "Oh thats just Anonsee checking in on me" and similar then tell me they saw me, or that they politely put me outside, or that they have breakfast at their table while i chill in the window next to them, and its a distinct form of feeling loved that so many people will look at something they once feared and go "this is also a sign of my friend caring about me, so I shall care about it back"
I "joked" elsewhere a couple years ago that Black transfemmes are like spiders in that we're crucial to basically every ecosystem we exist in, do a ton of work to maintain them that goes completely unappreciated, and people tend to react with disgust and horror on seeing us, sometimes trying to kill us for existing where they think we shouldn't be even if we're doing something that helps them.
And in comparison, I see the work I do, the stories I tell, the other people I help, as something similar to what happens when people think "What would Anonsee say" or similar stuff on seeing a spider.
We live in a white supremacist society predicated on global antiblackness and exploitation of Black (especially African, although Black globally) labor, bodies, lives, and lands. Lotta the instant reactions of fear, disgust, recoil, etc. are explicitly trained by white supremacy into nonblack people, TME people, as part of maintenance of itself.
If instead of instantly falling in on the Hot Allostatic Load of a Black trans girl you stop and think about what I've told you, if instead of scrolling by a Black trans girl's mutual aid post you think of how many other people will do the same and decide to share it instead because of what I've told you, that's you seeing a spider and thinking of me.
I tell my stories, do the work I do, because I don't want anyone else to go through the things I have if it can be avoided. Because I want them to have care and support if it does happen. Because I want to change what might happen to even one other Black girl. Because if you think "What would Anonsee say" you might choose something kinder than you would've otherwise. You might not kill that spider you saw.
