Hi! I’m Teletext ! This is my new home to post all about objectum stuff, very excited to meet new people and make friends!
I love old computers and the old Internet, all kinds of tech and machinery. I’m an adult and go by he/him!
This blog is often times not safe for work. I want to freely ramble and post about my desires and thoughts so please don’t visit if you’re below 18. I do not welcome minors here.
They used to make fun of people on TV for loving and sleeping with their objects the same way they’re doing it now with Ai „partners“ but fail to realize the raw feeling of loving an object will always win over something that takes drinking water away from us and can’t feel your skin against their hard surfaces. Sorry to say, it doesn’t even come close to it
Finished my objectum flag quilt! This was a project I started in November after my boyfriend, Casper, mentioned wanting a quilt for us to cuddle under... While it's too small for that, it's a great size to be a lap quilt!
This is the first quilt I've ever made and it's the most complicated thing I've sewn to date. There are some errors, and I want to redo some of the stitching later on, but I'm still proud of it regardless!
If you're curious about the process and why I picked certain fabrics (or what said fabrics are), see below 👇
The objectum flag is made up of 6 colors; five stripes with a big circle in the middle. While doing exact color matches wasn't something I wanted to do, I still hope it's recognizable.
When Casper mentioned wanting a quilt, I started brainstorming some different ideas and landed on the OS flag. We are both OS and it's a big part of our identities and relationship.
Then I had the idea to make each square a different object (within reason)!
So... What fabrics did I use?
Blue:
Lighthouses (Etsy link)
I don't see love for lighthouses very often, and I was unable to find a boat fabric I liked, so this is what I settled on to represent all things maritime.
Water (Etsy link)
I know of multiple people who consider water their partner
Circuitboard (Spoonflower)
Represents all technology, machinery, and things like computer programs
Wind turbines (Spoonflower)
Know a couple people who have wind turbine partners. Also they're sexy.
Grey:
Cars (Etsy link)
Desperately tried to find some Nissan fabric to represent Casper's object partner (Miss Tuxedo Latte the 2018 Nissan Sentra) but was unable to find some. So pretend this fabric is a schematic of her
Construction vehicles (Etsy link)
Big and sexy, and also just cool. Pattern was fun too
City/buildings (Spoonflower)
I know several OS people into specific buildings and cities
Steel texture (Etsy link)
Represents all things metal, industrial, or otherwise "manmade"
White:
Teddy bears (Etsy link)
Specifically for plushums, but is also a catch all for toys in general
Metro train map (Spoonflower)
For anyone into public or mass transit
"it's a small world" pattern (Etsy link)
Fabric to represent my object partner, the "it's a small world" clock 🥰
Fair/amusement park pattern (Spoonflower)
For all people into theme parks and their attractions. Specifically cut to represent flat rides and roller coasters (plus Casper and I initially bonded over finding coasters attractive, so it deserves a spot here)
Red:
I Spy inspired fabric (The Common Thread)
To represent objects as a whole
Airplanes (Etsy link)
Needs no explanation
Adirondack chairs (Etsy link)
Pattern was cute and it's a unique object so I wanted to include something atypical
Yellow:
Trains (Etsy link)
Also needs no explanation. Plus the pattern is very charming and I want to use this fabric in a future project
TVs (Spoonflower)
I saw how you all reacted to Tenna
Construction cranes (Etsy link)
Represents a long time mutual who has a large construction machine partner
Sunflowers (Etsy link)
I know there's debate if plants count as OS but they're pretty and one of my close friends uses sunflowers as symbolism for their partner, so that's why I picked them
Purple:
Satellites (Spoonflower)
Because satellites are beautiful, and I wanted something to represent those who are into rockets and/or conceptum for space and spacial phenomenon
Computers/laptops (Spoonflower)
Needs no explanation. Computers are The objectum object of all time on this website
Bookshelves (Etsy link)
For people into books
Music notes (Spoonflower)
For those who are conceptum for music
^ Here are some more photos from assembly. (It's all hand sewn)
Currently editing a video version of the process and want to get better photos of the quilt sometime, but that's all for now. I want to make a larger version of this someday and think it could be fun to source fabric from the community to represent more people's objects. But we'll see if I ever get back to that idea (I have two different ideas I want to get to first).
