I had a hard time articulating my explanation but my girl helped me out so i’m just gonna directly quote her:

Polyamory is love without possession. Nothing you do or feel has anything to do with your partner outside of your specific interactions and chemistry. So when you’re out in the world outside of that back and forth you act on behalf of yourself. Monogamy makes us shut certain doors that polyamory leaves ajar both in our physical space and in our minds.

HOW?! Polyamory is the opposite of greed. Greed is taking an entire cake and hissing at everyone even slightly interested in a bite. Polyamory is taking a slice of cake and not even trying to keep anyone else from it. It is generosity at its finest. It only looks greedy to you because you’re too scared of me just hanging out with some cake to take a slice for yourself.

Three rules for couples opening up their relationship

A lot of polyamorous relationships start with a couple opening up and laying down some ground rules to ensure their safety as an existing couple. After all, it is a dangerous world out there, and you never know who might want to threaten the home you spend to much energy building.

I have distilled for you some of the most important rules you NEED to have if you are a couple opening up your relationship.

Do not go out with people whose inhumane beauty makes you want to grovel at their feet. Chances are they are an angel whose sight was simply not meant for us humans to behold, whose very radiance burns into your retina even with your eyes closed, and whose piercing voice will haunt your dreams for seven years.

Don’t invite new partners into your home unless you have been dating for a while. There have been a lot of vampire sightings lately, and once you invite them in, they will crash on your couch for days, promising to leave “tomorrow” whenever you address the subject.

Do not have sex with your new partner in the spousal bed. It is your most intimate place in the whole house, and both werewolves and nighthags can pick up your spouse’s scent from there. (Also, werewolf fur is bloody hard to get out of your sheets).

Communicate, communicate, communicate! Personally, my favored method of communication is telepathy, but others prefer divining their partner’s intentions from tea leaves or the shape of clouds in the sky. There is no right or wrong way, you do you!

Polyamorous Love Spell

to bring new love into your life in whatever number you please

Take 1 red candle for each new love you want to attract.

Using thorns from a lemon tree (one for each candle), carve the Greek letter pi into each candle. Rose thorns could also be used for this.

Put each candle on its own plate and surround the bottom with licorice root, lavender buds, rose petals, and gold glitter!

Light them and let them burn down. Watch them carefully; be Fire Safe.

When the candles have burnt down, save all the herbs and wax in a jar or bag.

Shake it up, add some more herbs, or focus your intent every once in a while until no longer needed.

Anti-cheating culture is so profoundly monogamous that you end up attacking happy polyamorous people. “Real men are loyal to one girl and don’t have side hoes,” “you only ever need one girl in your life,” and “if you flirt with other people while in a relationship you’re an awful boy/girlfriend” has a detrimental effect on people who have never cheated in life by reminding them that their happy relationships containing more than two people are awful in your book. You tell them that they are bad and that their relationships aren’t as good as yours.

It is okay to be anti-cheating but the point should be the lying and lack of consent, not the number of people.

I’ve had so much experience with this, particularly with my boyfriends parents. I’m fine with them not wanting their kids to learn about it yet, they’re young and they have a lifetime to learn about polyamory, but I take issue with them not thinking that our loving and consensual relationship is morally wrong.

Since I came in second, I’m seen as a corrupting whore compared to my boyfriends girlfriend.

Can I please stress that polyamory can be fluid and there is not one way to do it (as long as everyone is communicating and honest)? You, and your partners, can change your dynamic whenever you would damn well like.

Monogamy is so harmful to me. If it’s your jam then that’s great for you but it isn’t for me. Monogamy is not for me.

Monogamy just transforms me into a sad mess and the love I have for that person is likely to evaporate so fast that I’m not sure why I’m in the relationship in the first place. Jealousy runs rampant and it eats away at that bond like acid, weakening it. There is a high level of codependency that isn’t healthy for anyone, I’ve been on the pedestal and I’ve placed people on the pedestal.

Polyamory is freedom from those unhealthy habits. I have learned to communicate like I’ve never been able to before. It brings wonder and soft amazement back into my life, I love freely because I am free to love in a way that suits me. It makes me feel amazing to know that my partners feel the same way. The best thing I can give and receive is the freedom to love. I get so excited hearing about the dates that my partners go on.

I can’t describe how light and pure polyamory makes me feel.

So I’ve always liked introducing friends to each other but one of my favorite things about polyamory is definitely when my partners who didn’t previously know each other get along & have things to talk about independent of their interest in me. Cause like, for one thing, I have good taste! And might have a bit of a tendency to date people with similar interests as each other so yeah, I think they’ll get along, and I get a warm fuzzy thrill if they do.
