Spell for Summoning a Domestic Familiar 🐾

*Long Post~Elaborate*

“A domestic familiar is an animal that stays with the Witch, provides magickal assistance and represents sacred nature. A Familiar is an animal you have a psychic connection with, or one that will help you with magick. A domestic familiar is sacred, a representation of the Goddess and God in living form. As a Witch, or as a Pagan, you have a heritage of a connection with nature, a spiritual connection with animals. Your pet is not necessarily a domestic Familiar, so don’t think that you can force your hamster into magickal service for you.”

“You can’t just go buy an animal and assume it will help make you a stronger, more powerful Witch. They can be rescued, found or borrowed (an occasional visit from your neighbor’s cat might have more meaning than you think), Domestic Familiars can be a pigeon you feed every day, the dog you’ve had since you were a child, or a cat that visits at dinner time. As long as the animal is willing, it can be trained as a domestic Familiar.Your domestic Familiar will find you, when you are ready. Don’t think that you can hide a dog from the landlord, a rat from your parents, or a cat from your children. If you don’t have an animal in your life who may become your domestic Familiar, you can call one. But remember, it’s their choice to reveal themselves. You’ll know instinctively.”

The following is a spell I have devised and will try myself. (Note, I have taken some of the spell wording/following chant from modern media but honestly if the words work and the intention is in your heart, then it’ll work, whether you heard it on a show, read it in a book, or are using someone else’s words, your intentions must be pure. Then all you have to do is believe.)

What you will need:

Few pieces of paper & pen/pencil📃🖋(I say a few, for mistakes, we know it happens, lol)

Utensil to write in the dirt with (twig/opposite end of pen, etc. *writing with your finger is also acceptable👍🏼)

A mixture of the following herbs:

Sage: Healing, Protection, Wisdom, Wishes, Health, Immortality

Blessed Thistle: Spiritual Aid, Protection

Horehound: Mental Powers, Protection, Healing, Exorcism

Shepherd’s Purse: Spells & Rituals, Healing

Agrimony: Protection, Sleep

Yarrow: Divination, Psychic Powers, Courage, Love

Wormwood: Calling Spirits, Divination, Love, Protection, Psychic Powers

Dandelion: Calling spirits, Divination, Wishes

Spearmint Leaf: Augmenting Power, Healing Love, Luck, Strength, Sleep

Alfalfa Leaf: Magic (also, random, but used for: anti-hunger, as well as money/prosperity magic)

Bay Leaf: Visions, Dreams, Healing, Psychic Powers, Repels Negative Energy

White Willow Bark: Divination, Healing, Love, Protection

Kelp: Travel Protection (so your Familiar arrives safely😉)

Catnip: Friendship, Happiness, Joy, Love, Beauty (dont worry, if you dont want a cat, this is mainly for Friendship, Happiness and Joy, yes it can be used for cat magic but if you want a dog or a fish or reptile, this will still be good because you are trying to form a bond)

Sea Salt: Purification, Protection

Copy this sigil onto the paper📃 and into the dirt you stand on.🌱

Sigil Meaning: “My Domestic Familiar Will Find Me”

🙌🏼Repeat the following chant as you imagine your familiar finding you. (If you have a specific animal preference, picture it. Imagine your Familiar finding you and what kind of bond you want to have. Be clear that this is for your Domestic Familiar…you don’t want just any spirit showing up.🤷‍♀️)

“Spirits of the forest*, I pronounce my intentions to thee. I ask my hearts familiar Come forth and seek me and equals we will be. Not master and servant but familiar to familiar, to share our knowledge, our spirit, and our traits. To guide one another in this journey. Come forth sweet familiar, and equals we will be. So mote it be.”

*You may change “Forest” to, “Earth, Air, Water and Fire”~ if you do not have an idea or preference of what kind of Familiar you want. For example if you would like a land animal (cat, dog, rabbit, etc) you can use Forest/Earth, if you’d like a bird-Air, Fish- Water, Dragon (more like a reptile/lizard, sorry, we dont get cool dragons like in Game of Thrones, lol)-Fire, and so on.

*if you want an insect I’d research the correct element that is associated, could be air, could be earth, etc.. Always, Always do your research! No one is perfect and sometimes people get things wrong, but researching does help when you’re unsure!

Seal the spell by the corresponding action. For example, again if you have a *preference of animal, you will dispense the herbs in one of the following ways:

Earth- bury the elements🌱

Air- Throw them to the wind🌪

Water- Dispense in a body of water💧

Fire- Throw the elements into a fire**🕯

🔥**Always remember Fire Safety~especially since you’ll be outside, for this I’d say bring an ashtray to burn the paper safely and once the flame is completely out and the paper is ash *do not burn your fingers*, throw them to the wind**🔥

*If no preference of animal, choose the way that speaks to you most and dispense the herbs in that way.

☆Also, please be reasonable about what you ask, as well as reasonable about what you can keep in your home. I’m sorry but I can’t help you explain to your parent why you need a comodo dragon as your familiar…and also, sorry but, you will not have a unicorn, talking animal that tells jokes, or a hippogryph showing up, so again, keep it reasonable.😉

Once the spell is complete, let the spirits work, let the spell do its work~ keep an open heart and mind, understand your Familiar will not just appear instantaneously, give it time, understand there is an instinctual process and response and your Familiar will come. Something inside will tell you this is them.

🌟Remember when you do find your Familiar/your Familiar finds you, this is your equal, treat them as such, Never harm your Familiar. Do not force your Familiar to engage in magic with you, they know what they need and sometimes what you need. They will participate at will, but when they do you will know why they are you Familiar, you can just feel it in your heart.🌟

Listen, observe, Pay Attention to them. And your bond will be incomparable.💞

Full Moon Names

November - Snow Moon - Scorpio brings in the dark season and winter begins. This is the death of the season, a time to dispose of the dead wood of the year and analyze what is healthy and unhealthy within our lives. 

December - Oak Moon - The mighty oak withstands the cold hardship of winter. The oak is revered for its longevity and the fact that such a mighty creature comes from the smallest acorn. Now is the time to remain steadfast in convictions and principles as plans are made for the coming year. 

January - Wolf Moon - The wolf is a fearsome creature of the night and a companion to the witch and shaman. The wold protects and guards his home and family, This is a time to protect what we have as we consider new options. 

February - Storm Moon - A storm is said to rage most fiercely just before it ends, and the year usually follows suits. The end of winter, death, and darkness is coming. It is a time to plan for the future and what we will pursue in the months to come. 

March - Chaste Moon - All is new, fresh and virginal as life begins anew. The antiquated word for pure reflects the custom of greeting the new year with a clear consciousness. Now we can begin to plant the seeds of desire. 

April - Seed Moon - Spring is in the air. This is the time of sowing seeds (spiritual or physical), the time when we physically put our desires into motion. 

May - Hare Moon - The sacred animal was associated in Roman legs with Springtime and fertility. All life is blossoming forth. Now is the time we use the creative spirit to reaffirm our goals. 

June - Dyad Moon - Dyad is the latin name for pair, the twin stars of castor and pollux. This is a time of equality, union of opposites, and duality, It is the time to seek balance between our spiritual and physical desires. 

July - Mead Moon - Mead was the traditional beverage in old Europe. This was a time for working to preserve some of these crops (mostly for wine and ale making) for winter and future use. It is the time to plan for what we will do when we reach our goals. 

August - Wort Moon - Wort is the Anglo - Saxon term for herb or green plant. This is the first harvest and a time to celebrate. It is a good time to plan for persevering what we have attained. 

September - Barley Moon - We enter the sign of virgo, the virgin who carries sheaves of barley and grain. This is the great harvest, a time for celebration and the realization of desired goals. 

October - Blood Moon - The moon marks the season of hunting and the slaughter of animals for winter food and clothing. Blood is the force of life. Now is the time for thanksgiving, rest, and reflection. 

Blue Moon - Variable - This occurs when the full moon appears twice in one month. A blue moon is considered to be extremely lucky and is used for magical rites that are in alignment with luck, prosperity, and good fortune.

Magickal Moon

The moon has been a magickal presence for thousands and thousands of years. Ancestors of multiple cultures believed it had some spiritual significance. Science has helped us understand the moon and it’s effect on Earth, and astronauts who have visited the moon returned having a more spiritual connection, exploring religious or metaphysical beliefs more in depth. 

Moon Phases and Magick 

There are numerous spells you can perform while under the different phases of the moon. One simple ritual can be done to perform all the spells listed here by taking a small white candle to the window and gazing at the moon. Say your wish aloud and with feeling, then leave the candle to burn down and extinguish itself. (Remember to never leave a lit candle near a window unattended completely, or place it near a curtain). 

The Full Moon

The moon and its phases were once theorized to interfere with our internal chemistry by exerting gravitational forces on our bodies, or that the moon’s gravitational fields caused electrical particles to fall down to Earth further interfering with the function of the brain. Many scientific studies have attempted to disprove this notion, as well as invalidating the belief that crimes and mental instability (such as lunatic) increased during full moons. The full moon does not have any negative connotations in the magickal world, it is just considered a very powerful time of the month. Fridays that fall on full moons, for example, are perfect days for casing love spells. If you try to cast a love spell during any other moon phase, it doesn’t mean it won’t work, but the results could take longer. 

There are lots of other spells that can be cast during the benefit of a full moon also:

Protecting property and home

Adding vigor to your life

Anything to do with love

Increasing self-confidence

Advancing in career and work 

Enhancing psychic ability/clairvoyance

Strengthening friendships and family bonds

Performing general good-luck spells 

The Waxing Moon

During the waxing moon, witches like to cast spells for improving situations or getting things going if they have been stuck for a while. This is a good phase of the moon to help kick-start your life. The following spells are fast-acting during a waxing moon:

Moving forward from depression

Getting out of a rut

Passing exams and tests

Finding lost objects

Healing a sick animal or finding a lost pet 

Nurturing abundant, healthy gardens and the well-being of nature

Losing weight or stopping smoking 

The Waning Moon

The waning moon is perfect to cast spells for getting ride of negative energies that sometimes hang over your life. If you cast a spell during this moon phase, you will gain the power to take control again, strengthen weak areas, and become more assertive in actions. Cast spells during a waning moon for:

Developing inner strength and assertiveness

Banishing enemies

Stopping arguments 

Soothing unruly children 

Calming anxiety 

Getting out of tricky situations 

The New Moon

This lunar experience is appropriate for just about any spell. The new moon phase surrounds us with positive energy and can be a catalyst for immediate change. Transitions in life happen naturally around a new moon phase anyway, such as new jobs or births. To revolutionize your life during this time, cast spells for:

Career changes

Moving house swiftly and easily

Safe and enjoyable travel

Increasing your cash flow

Better health

Conceiving

Women and the Moon

In many early religions, the moon was worshipped as a goddess, and it has always been seen as a feminine symbol. The moon orbits at a distance of approximately 238,855 miles from Earth, and takes about 28 days to complete its orbit. In an interesting comparison, the amount of time between female menstrual cycles is the same amount of days. 

Moons and Moods

Our demeanor changes depending on what the moon is doing. If you are interested in studying your own changes, keep a Book of Shadows about how you feel during each passing phase. Certain situations can naturally occur during certain phases, also. Animals may be affected by the full moon phase, and can become a bit more rambunctious. So if you’re a witch with felines, keep catnip at hand. 

The Dark or Void of the Moon

During the dark moon, when the face of the moon is hidden, it is also known as the “dead” moon. It takes place precisely three days before a new moon, and is considered to be the most magickal and potent of all the phases. Many individuals who partake in black magick do so during this time. People using dark magick can influence any spells or rituals that you may be performing. Their collective power can cause cosmic havoc: our spells may become confused or simply not work at all. It is advised to be experienced wand wavers to attempt rituals at this time.

New Moon- New beginnings. It’s time for a clean slate, start to gather your thoughts and plan. Yang

Waxing Crescent Moon- Set intentions. Send your hopes and desires into the world. Yin

First Quarter Moon- Take action. When you face obstacles, do not waver. Its a time for pushing forward. Yang

Waxing Gibbous Moon- Refine and hone. Observe and sign your hopes with the universe. Momentum is building. Yin

Full Moon- Harvest endeavors. A time to harvest the intentions and wishes of past moons. Yang

Waning Gibbous Moon- Introspect. Turn inwards, think about your goals, and be grateful. Yin

Third Quarter Moon- Release and let go. Let go of the habits that bind you and do you harm. Yang

Waning Crescent Moon- Surrender. Recuperate and rest. It is okay to feel empty sometimes. Yin

Moon Phases 🌙

The Moon’s tranquil waltz around the Earth is divided into eight equal and rhythmic parts according to how much light the Moon receives from the Sun. After being gifted sunlight, the Moon gently offers us her reflection from up above. These are called Moon Phases and they’re an essential part of natal charts in the sense that these phases represent the intimate relationship between the Sun and the Moon in a certain point in time.

Because the Sun symbolizes consciousness, creativity and individual purposes in life, and the Moon represents our inner, emotional and subconscious selves, the analysis of the Moon Phases of a chart gives some insight into how the personality works towards its ultimate goal, which is often achieved by fulfilling the Sun’s purpose.

Each lunar cycle lasts about 28 days, and the Moon Phases are 8, so each phase lasts around 3 to 4 days. And because so many people are born under the same phase, the interpretation of the Moon phase in a chart assumes a universal or general meaning. Although accurate, the interpretation of Moon phases does not offer specific details.

Each Moon Phase can be also correlated to one of a cycle of eight reincarnations, which generally point to some recurrent lesson that must be learnt within these eight reincarnations before inaugurating a new cycle, a new lesson, a New Moon.

To figure out which one of the eight phases blessed you at birth, you should look at the distance, around the Zodiac, that separates the Sun from the Moon.

1. New Moon (Moon from 0° to 45° ahead of the Sun); 

A New Moon symbolizes the moment when the Moon is placed between the Sun and the Earth. Illuminating sunlight is filtrated through the Moon’s scintillating waters, which become warm and fertile. Lunar seeds and sunny expectations pour onto humanity, symbolizing the beginning of a new experience; a celestial representation of opportunity. This also symbolizes divine unity between conscious and unconscious. People born under a New Moon are generally spontaneous and lively. Their sense of realization and creativity is linked to their unconscious habits and feelings, producing a charming and instinctive individual. Those born under a new Moon are on a quest for finding their true selves and for expressing themselves genuinely through being dynamic and experiencing new things in their lives. New Moon people are considered quite “lucky”; it’s as if the universe were able to adjust itself, often placing these people at the right place at the right time. Good or bad, life-changing experiences happen as if by divine providence, without conscious intention. The individual can be self-centered. A new seed is planted.

2. Crescent Moon (Moon from 45° to 90° ahead of the Sun);

Growing roots break the seed’s shell. A Crescent Moon symbolizes the manifestation of the will to live that is needed for surviving. Here, the Moon’s only starting to light up, symbolizing the first difficult steps we must take towards our goals. People born under a Crescent Moon must find a way to be assertive, confident and decisive. They’ve got what it takes to let go of the past, but moving forward can prove challenging. They’ve already understood their New Moon personality; in the Crescent Moon, they’re trying to project this personality forcefully and also making their way to their independence.

3. First Quarter Moon (Moon from 90° to 135° ahead of the Sun);

After breaking the seed’s shell, roots must let the initial seed behind and fight their way through the ground, creating a stable and reliable structure upon which the plant will be able to grow. People born under a First Quarter Moon are energetic and have a strong force of will. They often find themselves in crises that demand letting go of memories or destroying past and useless things in their lives, creating space for what’s to come and expanding their horizons.

4. Gibbous Moon (Moon from 135° to 180° ahead of the Sun);

When the roots are already stable, it is time to focus on producing beautiful stems and leaves in order to accomplish one’s purpose. People born under a Gibbous Moon are perfectionists. They look for meaning and usefulness in all things through analysis and, when they do not find it, they question such a thing’s existence. This process is generally turned inwards, so the individual may be constantly questioning themselves and their motives while in search for their true purpose. They’re constantly looking for signs that they’re on the right way.

5. Full Moon (Moon from 180° to 135° behind the Sun);

Gorgeous flowers blossom from the meticulous and careful stems. The Earth is placed between the Moon and the Sun, so it is now filtrating sunlight and returning the Moon’s seeds and dreams back at her in flowery forms. The Moon receives the Earth’s flowers and the Sun’s light, achieving complete understanding of her intentions under her initial New Moon form. People born under Full Moons are relationship-driven. They generally have a deep understanding of the world and know that there’s more to human relationships than only “good” or “bad”. They’re often able to consider multiple perspectives, opinions and points of view. This is a reflection of their important polarization towards their two selves: emotional (Moon) and conscious (Sun), which often manifests through their relationships. These people, much like the Moon, overflow with enlightenment and comprehension, but they may lack drive or ability to materialize their knowledge on Earth.

6. Disseminating Moon (Moon from 135° to 90° behind the Sun);

Eventually, those marvelous flowers turn into sweet fruits, which can serve as nourishment while assuring the progression of the cycle. People blessed by this phase often have the ability to consciously materialize their knowledge, which wasn’t quite possible on previous phases. This means they’re focused on distributing their observations and theories, helping other people grow by offering advices or teachings. The nutritious fruit is what gives material and practical value and meaning for a beautiful flower.

7. Last Quarter Moon (Moon from 90° to 45° behind the Sun);

Fruits perish and die, all the while being completely conscious of their drowning state. Those born under this phase are blessed with the ability and purpose to undergo radical transformations in their consciousness and way of thinking, constantly changing their perspective towards life. This individual presents himself as more sober than most, for they’re continuously letting go of previous beliefs and past achievements, creating space for something greater, yet intangible, in an ethereal future.

8. Balsamic Moon (Moon from 45° to 0° behind the Sun);

A decomposed fruit places a hopeful seed on the ground. This phase symbolizes the completion of karma or the end of the cycle. People born under this phase are future-oriented and have a subtle, but wide understanding of their life’s purpose in general. Generally considered to be wise, these people are now completing a task, so they may feel as if they were constantly putting the finishing touches in many aspects of their lives. Often considered to be quite sensitive or eccentric, Balsamic Moon people excel at interpreting hidden meanings which may be inaccessible to others, reproducing spiritual and universal information in order to heal or transform other people.

what to put in your grimoire:

Obviously, you don’t have to include all of these ideas in your grimoire: they are merely ideas, prompts and inspiration for your own research and documentation. Similarly, this list is not exhaustive and there may be other things you want to include in your grimoire.

This is in no particular order, you may wish to organise your grimoire into sections; but I personally don’t overthink the structure of my grimoire and I just make sure I have a good contents page. 

You may also want to include things such as print outs, post cards, your own drawings and sketches, paintings, and decorations. Some people add extra pages or cut outs, flaps and envelopes. what you include is up to you and dependent on what you desire from your grimoire. If you are using a notebook, I would recommend sticking an envelope on the back page so you can keep any small or lose pages in it.  

So, here are some suggestions for things to put in your grimoire:

a contents page (this is important to organise your information for future reference)

information on any witchy festivals that you celebrate. For instance, when are they, what are their origins, how are they celebrated, their correspondences and associations

information on the moon phases. What are the moon phases, an almanac for the moon phases for the upcoming year, what associations and correspondences are associated with each moon phase, what types of magic are suited to each moon phase

colour correspondences

information on the elements. What are the elements, what are their associations and correspondences

a record of your sigils, runes and symbols. Draw them out and note their purpose

a record of the spells that you have done. What are the ingredients and methods of the spell, why did you do it, how did you do it, when did you do it, what were the results and effects, what changes would you make next time

similarly, a record of any rituals that you have done

information on witchy plants that you would like to grow

an entry for each witchy festival celebrated. How did you celebrate it, did you do any further research, are there things you would like to do to celebrate it next time

information on all the crystals that you own. What are they, what do they look like, what are their uses and associations, what have you used them for 

practical information you have researched, such as how to create sigils, charge, activate and use them. Other examples include fire safety

a directory for any herbs and plants that you use in your craft. What do they look like, in what conditions do they grow, what are their uses and correspondences, what do you use them for

a sketch or photograph of your altar or work space with labels explaining the layout

information on tarot references

information on any witchy DIYs you’ve done. What did you create, how did you create them, why did you create them, what purpose do they serve, how do they work, how did they turn out

a record of any witchy recipes you make. What is the recipe, what is the recipe good for, is it for a specific witchy festival

specific references for themes that you use a lot. For instance, items for bringing calm (crystals, plants, colours, scents…)

information on folklore, historical accounts, or anthropology that you have researched. Such as the history of witches where you live, or the folklore of a particular time period you are interested in. Examples I have include Selkies, geographical features in Western Scotland, and Scottish Fair Folk

information on divination techniques that you are interested in using, such as palmistry, pendulums and shufflemancy

recipes for things you have made such as bath soaks and tea blends. What is in them, why have you used those particular ingredients, are they effective

information on aspects of magic that are specific to you. For instance, I have information on how to conserve energy in witchcraft

research on deities, pantheons, spirits, or the fair folk that you would like to work with. What are they known as, when were they first known in the historical record, what are their origins, what folk lore is associated with them, why would you like to work with them, what or where are they associated with, what are their patronages

information on ways to create spells and types of spells. Which of these suit you and how can you make a spell creation method which is unique to you

information on magic using a specific ingredient or method. Such as spell jars, water magic, hair magic…

information on your astrological chart

traditions and superstitions that are common in your family or community

an index at the back for specific ingredients and themes. Such as where specific crystals, herbs, festivals, or moon phases have been mentioned

grimoire ideas:

this can be used in a book of shadows, book of knowledge, path journal, etc.

✧ table of contents: so you don’t have to flip through to find whatever you’re looking for

✧ a page all about you : helps to make it more personalized. you can add your favorite herbs, crystals, plants, incense, tarot cards and just about anything that’s important to your craft. you can write what your path is and what interested you about it. you can add your natal chart.

✧ goals: goals in your path (can be included on the page about you)

✧ calendar: you can write down the lunar phases on it, holidays important to your craft such as Esbats or Sabbats

✧ elements: what they stand for. their importance. correspondence.

✧ herbs/plants/flowers: I wouldn’t put every herb but write down the ones that you most commonly use and their correspondence

✧ crystals: exact same as the herb page.

✧ runes: exact same as herb page.

✧ candles: you can write down what each color represents.

✧ witch tools: write down the tools you use. maybe their importance or what you use them for.

✧ lunar phases: draw them out or print them out and write down their symbolism

✧ astral plane: information about the astral plane and astral projection. your experience with astral projection.

✧ deities: info about your deity/deities (their history, picture, correspondence). offerings ideas. invocations.

✧ rituals/rites/songs: any sort of rituals you do for cleansing, daily rituals etc. anything that’s important to your craft.

✧ spells: you can separate them by their use such as love spells, luck spells, etc.

✧ recipes: for kitchen witchcraft or how to make moon/sun water, elixirs, potions, oils, or just witchy diys!

✧ dream work: accounts of any dreams you’ve had. meaning of dreams. (if applicable)

✧ sigils: how to draw them. how to charge. list of other sigils. (if applicable)

✧ astrology: natal chart. info on the zodiac. what each element/planet/house/aspects mean. celestial events. (if applicable)

✧ tarot/oracle: what each card means. tarot/oracle spreads. results. (if applicable)

✧ pendulum: a pendulum board.

✧ spirit work: info on spirits you have been in contact with. offerings. (if applicable)

✧ chakras: how you use them. their meaning. what stones you can use for each. (if applicable)

✧ auras: different auras. what each color aura means. (if applicable)

✧ familiar: info about them. (if applicable)

✧ alter: traveling alter page. how it’s setup. pictures/drawings of it. (this is also helpful if you’re a closet witch)

✧ knots: knot magick (if applicable)

✧ reflections: personal reflections.

✧ ancestors: your ancestor line.

✧ resources: info from books you’ve read.

you can decorate your book with dried up leaves/flowers, illustrations, collages, colored pen/markers. I would recommend adding a protection sigil. by no means do you have to make your book aesthetically pleasing, do whatever works for you! In my case, the nicer it is the more I’ll use it. add whatever is important to your craft, don’t add stuff you’re not going to need or use. make it your own!

Tips on Grimoire Organization

Please note that if you are using a hard bound notebook or journal, adding in additional pages will bulk up your book, like so: (these are the exact same journals, btw)

- Envelopes. Let’s say you’re doing a section on Tarot in your Grimoire, and you want to include a few Tarot spreads, but you don’t want to waste two or three pages. Glue an envelope onto one of your pages to make a “pocket” where you can store little cards or papers with the tarot spreads written on them.

- Pockets. Similar to the envelope idea. If you have a page, or section for example, on herbal teas, you can make a pocket out of a piece of paper to keep your current favorite tea recipes in.

- Dividers, Cover Pages and Ribbons. If you’re like me and you like to have “sections” in your grimoire, you can easily make dividers by gluing a sheet of paper in your book (to make it heavier to make the sections stand out more). You can go further by turning your divider into a cover page for that section. And if you don’t like the idea doing that, you can always glue a ribbon, or a string, to the spine of your book to act as a bookmark.

- Double pages. I always had a problem with “wasting” pages in my grimoire. For example, my page on consecrating and charging. These two concepts are very similar to me, and I didn’t want two page stating the same thing. So, what I did was write out all my information on charging on a separate sheet of paper, then glued the top of that page into my grimoire. This way I could flip up the page on charging (as if it were on a clipboard) and have my page on consecrating underneath.

- Extended pages. Similar to the one above. In my Crystal section of my Grimoire, I decided to write out a chart that let me search for crystals by intention. So I drew my chart on a long sheet of paper, then folded it over (side to side) so that it fit comfortably in my book, then I just glued one side down into the book.

- Brochures. In my Elements section, I had a ton of information I wanted to write down, but I didn’t want each element to have more than two pages. So I used a piece of computer paper and folded it into a brochure (or into thirds) and glued it into the book so that the flaps would open and give me double the space to write.

- Clear Tape. There are many times where i finished a page in my grimoire only to find out there was a section that I left out. A simply way to fix this was with clear tape. I would write my forgotten bit of into on a separate piece of paper and then use clear tape to tape one side of the paper to my page. This allows me to flip the paper back and forth without covering up anything that I had written.

The Elements and their correspondences

E A R T H

Earth represents strength, grounding, prosperity, the material, wealth, success, foundations, death and rebirth. Focus on this element if the goal of your spell is about fertility, prosperity, business or stability. Earth spells may take longer to work, but they’re also more firm and are good if you’re looking for long-term solutions.

Bird Symbolism Part 2

This post was made to cover more birds that were requested in my last post. Again this is a disclaimer, if you are always seeing a bird take into account that the bird might just be common in your area. If the bird is doing something out of the ordinary, something looks wrong with it or the bird keeps popping up in other forms like pictures, movies, etc. You should definitely take the bird as an omen

Albatross-new travel opputunties, long trip/voyage/adventure ahead of you, represent the element of water. Astral travel.

Blackbird- development of psychic abilities, time of reflection, great wisdom, listen to your intuition.

Chick-a-dee-happiness, adaptibility, being to gentle, social oppurtunities.

Cuckoo-lies are being told, deceit, something is being hidden, news.

Dove-Christian symbol, peace, hope, new love, and breaking free from a bad situation.

Falcon-seen as a messenger, taking action, ambition, spiritual journey.

Finch-good luck, happiness, high energy, fast-paced, optimism, life is looking up.

Goose-fellowship, loyalty, teamwork, set boundaries, fake friends will reveal themselves.

Heron-ancient wisdom, independence, self-reliance, reflection, take it slow.

Loon- serenity, time of relaxation, wishes coming true, being haunted by your past, pay attention to your dreams.

Mockingbird-similar to Cuckoo, two-faced friends, lies, defend your territory, confidence.

Osprey- strength, leaving your comfort zone, staying alert and aware, survival.

Peacock-associated with the goddess Hera, show off your talents, be confident, beauty, fun and don’t take things too seriously.

Pigeon-see dove, can represent sacrifice, adapting to new environments.

Turkey-new gifts, family, celebration (Thanksgiving just comes to mind lol), growth, enjoy life.

Wren-creativity, act quickly, artistic, musical talents, the wren is known as the king of birds (weird because they’re so small) so I associate them with power, nobility and confidence.

Ok. So maybe I’m not the right person to be talking about spirit animals. But I’m tired of telling my other white friends that no, they can’t have a spirit animal, that “haha that’s your secret fursona!” So! I finally looked up something.

The Norse have fylgjur and the Irish have fetch (altho the Irish one at a glance was kinda dark lol) and literally with five minutes of Google found me alternatives that are for the cultures that I belong to.

Native Americans on tumblr, and I’m sure elsewhere, have asked for respect when it concerns their cultures. If other white people can not let go of spirit animals in regards to how they are used in an indigenous religion, please use the norse flygja. Norse is an open culture. Flygjur will do the same function of a spirit animal for a white person since I’m sure we lack the cultural perspective to understand the true significance of native American spirit animals. And flygja is a fun word lol. Have at it.
