To me Aphrodite is the quiet Feminism- a woman making choices for herself despite what decisions were made for her. A woman having children and raising them to be strong and ferocious. Prostitution was done in her name. A quiet, demure, but empowered woman who does not tolerate disrespect. Of herself or her family.

Whereas Athena and Artemis are the loud, agressive, angry Feminism. Artemis is choosing what happens to her body. Artemis is Girls can be wild, untamed, can play at men's sports. Athena is cold, calculating rage. She is protests and smash the patriarchy, she is the shaking rage of a domestic Violence survivor, she is the screams for justice at a rapists court hearing.

I honor all deities. I don’t specifically worship Aphrodite, but this little prayer popped into my head & I wanted to share.

Aphrodite, with your luscious lips beautiful enough to ensnare any and all, and your silky soft skin, With your caring nature, loving and kind, I ask you to bear love.

Bring love unto the world, with its freezing, hungry people, and those unwilling to share. Let them realize we are all one and feel empathy. I ask you to bear love.

Bring love unto my friendships, with our misunderstandings and fights, so that we may heal and care for each other again. Gently, pray, let new, healthy friendships replace the unhealthy ones. I ask you to bear love.
