Working with energy is very important as magic is only as successful as the energy that surrounds us is. It is just like the old phrase that you can only make something from equal exchange.
Some of the energy that I work with comes from different sources. To start there is independent energy.
There is personal energy. Personal energy is the energy that you create. this is the energy that is never lost. You always continue to create energy.
The next is organic energy. This is energy from life. Again this is a type of energy that continues to create itself.
Finally you have roots energy. This is energy from natural space or the environment. I see this as the space around us, the cosmos, the atmosphere around us etc…
The next set of energy is known as dependent energy. This is called dependent because it needs other energy sources.
To start there is natural energy. This is crystals, stones, dead matter and other natural materials. You often hear of charging your crystals with sunlight, moonlight, sounds, your own energy etc. This is what I mean by dependent energy source.
Next is spiritual energy. This is ancestors, spirits, thought-forms and any sort of spirit work. Although these energies do not need energy themselves I group it into this category because I find that I often need other energy sources to successfully work with this energy type.
There is programmed energy which is spells, chants, and curses. Of course any other spell-work, spoken word and any other energy focused to work in a way that the original energy source intended,
Lastly in this category you have emotional energy. This is emotions, thoughts, daydreams, astral work. This is the energy that we personally convey and the energy that is put into the universe through our magical minds.
*Remember energy can be limited. To ensure that you do not harm yourself while doing spell or energy work protect your energy from others, and don’t allow yourself to drain your energy. Take breaks, and take the time to focus on yourself as well and recharge!
