Water Nymphs by Sidney Harold Meteyard ( English art teacher, painter and stained-glass designer, 1868-1947)
Things witches keep under their pilllows
Traditionally, witches may keep various items under their pillows for different purposes. Some common examples include herbs or botanicals associated with specific intentions, such as lavender for relaxation or mugwort for enhancing dreams.
Other items could include crystals, charms, written spells, or personal items with symbolic significance. It ultimately depends on the witch's individual practices, beliefs, and intentions.
1. Tarot Cards: Some witches keep a tarot deck under their pillow to enhance their intuition and promote vivid dreams. They believe it can facilitate messages from the subconscious or spiritual realm.
2. Dream Journal: Witches who are interested in dream work might keep a journal under their pillow to record their dreams as soon as they wake up. This practice helps with dream recall and analyzing the symbolism within dreams.
3. Protective Talismans: Witches may place protective talismans or amulets under their pillows to ward off negative energy, nightmares, or unwanted spiritual influences. These could include symbols like the evil eye, pentagram, or specific charms chosen for their protective properties.
4. Magickal Tools: Depending on their craft, witches might keep small magickal tools under their pillows, such as a wand, pendulum, or small ritual knife. They believe these tools can absorb and amplify energy while they sleep.
5. Sacred symbols: Witches may choose to place sacred symbols that hold personal meaning or significance under their pillows. This could be anything from sigils to religious or spiritual symbols associated with their belief system.
It's important to note that the items witches keep under their pillows vary greatly and are highly individualized. Practices can differ depending on personal preferences, cultural backgrounds, and specific branches of witchcraft.
To baby witches and baby pagans and/or polytheists out there: your content is for you first and foremost.
Once you start posting about your practice, there will be some people who take it for granted; they will not be the majority - rather a person or two here and there once in a while. They’ll try to police your blog and tell you what to do, and they will be mean about it.
If you’re a non-confrontational person or someone who doesn’t handle stress of being treated rudely well, here’s your gentle reminder: your blog’s your house and you don’t have to tolerate people who walk around it in dirty shoes. If they don’t understand basic interpersonal respect and make you uncomfortable, boot them the hell out. 🧡
I'm pretty tired of seeing the attitude that basically boils down to "what I'm doing is real magic and what other people are doing is just roleplay".
There were three more paragraphs about this here, but instead of posting all that, I'm just gonna skip ahead to the conclusion now:
Most of the more experienced and credible practitioners I know don't feel the need to engage in mean-spirited posturing about it.
"you cant do spells when youre emotional, only when youre calm, grounded, and balanced"
as someone with bipolar disorder id like you to shut the fuck up
seconding this as someone with borderline personality disorder, literally shut the fuck up

Getting Back Into Your Practice
Sometimes life is shitty and your spiritual practice doesn't take priority. Thats okay. Here are some tips for how to get back into your practice once you're feeling up for it.
Cleanse and Clean Your Space This is defiantly the first think you should focus your energy on. This can take as long as needed and as intensive as you want or feel is needed. Spiritual and physically cleanse your space. Pick up items, open windows and start your cleansing method of choice.
Redo Wards and Protections Once you've cleansed its important to redo your protection. Cleanse to get rid of, protect to keep it away. Even if nothing has *hit* your protections and wards, its important to keep up to date on them being energized.
Keep Actives Low on Spoons Now that you've done the basics, stick to low spoon actives and slowly build from there. Even if you feel super energized and ready to get into it- you want to take things slow. This'll help you from losing steam..
Slowly Add Back In Your Daily Practice This is totally unique person to person, but dont expect to be back into your multi step daily routine right away. Add in each step one at a time, or slowly so you wont feel overwhelmed.
Come Up with a Ritual Youre EXCITED About You want to focus on the parts of witchcraft you love. Do something you've always wanted to try, something you always love doing, or anything that will make you excited for the working.
Pick a New Topic, Not an Older One Getting into your practice and going to an older topic might feel disheartening. Pick a new topic like astrology, plants, or an aspect of witchcraft you havent gotten too into before. Then go back to the older topic you left on.
Do Some Divination on What You Need Right Now Spend time with your spirit team, deities or ancestors and figure out what you should be focusing in on right now. Maybe you need more rest, maybe theres a ritual they want you to work on.
Remember You Dont Have To Do Magic Daily Dont put too much stress into doing something every single day. Take breaks. Youre still a witch.
I hope these helped. Remember to take things slow and dont let the pressure of getting back into it weigh you down. Magic is suppose to help not hinder.

Rain
second changes, renewal, cleansing
emotions, intuition, connecting with your inner self
Activities
Meditate in the rain: imagine the water washing away your worries
Snow
representative of the macrocosm/microcosm (think of the way each snowflake is unique, yet snowflakes pile on and on until they create huge blankets of snow)
concealment, hidden magic
purity, freshness, innocence (this has less to do with color magic [that old concept of black vs. white magic] and more to do with the way fresh snow looks)
revelation, awareness
cooperation, unity
Activities
Find an area covered in snow and, using your finger or a stick, write a wish in the snow. Watch the open spaces fill back in as the snow falls, and imagine your wish is being carried out by the universe.
Hail
haste, speed, action
power, motivation
strength
Activities
When you hear hail, close your eyes and focus your energy on something you've been avoiding. Using the energy of the hail, write out a plan to tackle the problem at hand. When the hail ends, you will have gained the strength you need to carry out these tasks - don't be afraid to ask for help from others if necessary!
Thunderstorm
power, amplification
contains power of all four elements: earth=thunder, fire=lightning, air, and water
Activities
Count the seconds between lightning and thunder as the storm approaches. When the storm is at its peak (there's no delay between the lightning and thunder), focus on your current magical workings. Feel your energy pour into the storm as the storm fills you with strength and power. Imagine the storm continue to pour strength into you and your magical workings as it fades away.
High Sun (Hot Days)
strength, endurance
intense
projective
analytical, objective
Activities
Take a yellow, orange, or red stone and let it charge under the sun for a few hours on a hot day (be sure to double-check that your stone/crystal is sun-safe). Place the stone on your altar, desk, or area of your preference. Pull out the stone and call on its energy when you need a boost of strength or endurance.

Definitely an ace, or court card of wands. The colors, the staff, and the look of confidence and determination remind me of the suit of fire.

Tarot Spreads 🎴
I don't really subscribe to masculine/feminine energies, not that it doesn't exist because gender is important to some people and cultures, but I don't sort every energy into those two boxes. For instance, the Moon to me isn't a gender so much as it's of softer, more subtle and subconscious properties, more peace exuding than the Sun. So if I want a strong, fiery spell I'm calling on the Sun, but if I want a peaceful spell to help me sleep I want Moon energy, it's not a question of gender, it's a question of properties.

Protection Affirmation:
"I am safe, secure, and protected at all times. I trust that the universe is always watching over me, and I am divinely guided and protected from all harm. Negative energies and influences cannot penetrate my shield of light. I am surrounded by a loving, protective energy that keeps me safe and secure. I am grateful for this protection and trust that it is always with me. Thank you, universe, for keeping me safe."
You can repeat this affirmation daily, especially when you feel anxious, worried, or in need of extra protection. Visualize yourself surrounded by a protective white light or shield that keeps any negative energy or harm away from you. This affirmation can help you feel more grounded, confident, and protected in your daily life.
