Pro-Mage Hawke and ‘Friendship’ Approval with Fenris
I didn’t realize in Dragon Age 2, you can “lock in” the friendship/rivalry once it’s maxed out. (I had assumed it would continue to change even if you reached the limit of one or the other.) So I thought I would shorten the Fenris/Approval wiki page options to which ones will gain you friendship with Fenris without sacrificing any pro-mage/anti-templar/anti-chantry leanings you may have (which is how I ended up getting max rivalry with Fenris). This is just as much for my own reference as for anyone else who might be interested.
Act 1
Bring Fenris for these:
Bait and Switch: At the end of the quest, Hawke investigates and says, “Why is Danarius after you?” and then chooses the diplomatic options.(+5) Note: If Hawke is a mage, there is no way to avoid rivalry gain at the end of this quest. However, if “Survival.” was chosen in response to Fenris’s first question, the final rivalry score will only be (+5), which is the lowest it can be.
Fenris Recruited: If Hawke uses the following dialogue options: - “I’ve thought about it.” or “Lothering is gone.” - Next three options have no effect. - Investigate > “How long since you escaped?” > “You’ve been alone?” > “Are you sure?” > “Good plan.” - “You could make a home here.” (+20)
Fenris Recruited: Alternatively, if Hawke follows the steps shown above but ignores the Investigate conversation options, instead skipping right to “You could make a home here.” (+10)
Long Way Home: When Merrill opens the barrier with blood magic, Hawke says, “The demon, you mean.” (+10) [a bit of a grey area, if I recall correctly, if this can be taken as anti-mage or not.]
Tranquility: When Hawke meets Anders for the first time: - Investigate > “Help him escape the circle?” - “That’s a little controversial.” for (+5)
Wayward Son: Hawke defers to Fenris when dealing with Danzig and then kills him afterwards. (+10)
Wayward Son: Hawke kills the slaver holding Feynriel hostage or defers to Varric and then kills the slaver anyway. (+10) Note: No approval points are awarded here if Hawke says, “I don’t need to step.”
Wayward Son: Hawke tells Feynriel to go to the Circle (+10) [ehhh, I might not do it, but it wouldn’t make me feel too anti-mage to select it]
Act 1 total: 65-80 friendship points, as long as you didn’t get any rivalry points.

Witch tip: Energy can’t be destroyed ~ only redirected.
When someone sends you jealousy, don’t block it ~ transmute it.
🔮 Step 1: Visualize their envy as static - bright, chaotic, but weightless.
🔮 Step 2: Pull that energy toward your solar plexus and breathe it into gold light.
🔮 Step 3: Say, “I accept only what empowers me.”
Their bitterness becomes your brilliance. That’s alchemy.
Witchcraft That Makes Life Softer ✨
Small witchy things that can make your life a little bit easier!
🪞 Mirror Charm
Before the steam fades, trace a heart or symbol on your bathroom mirror. It’s a quiet blessing for your day.
☕ Morning Cup Enchantment

✨ Night Release Ritual
Shake out your sheets, light a candle (or even an LED), and whisper: “Today is released.” Let the day dissolve.
𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐜𝐤
💀 Connect with the spirits of the dead through meditation or rituals.
🕸 Watch your favorite spooky/witchy movies to awaken Samhain's energy.
💀 Pull some tarot cards for guidance.
🕸️ Take a walk in nature for grounding, clear your mind, and appreciate the beauty of autumn.
💀 Since Samhain is also a fire festival, connect with the element of fire by lighting candles or a small bonfire (always safely).
🕸️ Craft yourself a Samhain mask, inspired by ancient Egyptian funeral masks, which were believed to protect the soul on its journey. By creating your own “death mask,” you symbolically protect yourself when the veil is thin.
💀 Celebrate Samhain also as Nutcrack Night, by enjoying the season’s nuts, you can crack them open to release their energy and use them for their magical properties, whether by eating them or using them in spells.
🕸️ Practice candle and fire magick.
💀 Try scrying or mirror gazing, divination is especially powerful when the veil is thin (this whole month especially, and in November too).
🕸️ Do a simple releasing spell: take a leaf, focus on something you want to let go of, crush it gently, and then release it into nature.
💀 Host a Samhain feast for your loved ones. Leave an empty place at the table with food and a photo of the deceased, inviting their spirit to join you.
🕸️ Do some trick-or-treating with baked cookies or small crystals to share your energy with others.
💀 Try an apple peel divination: peel an apple in one long, continuous spiral and throw it over your shoulder. The shape it forms is said to reveal the first initial of your future love.
🕸️ Offer wine libations or food offerings outdoors (make sure they’re safe for animals).
💀 Visit a cemetery or the grave of a loved one. Leave flowers or other offerings to honor them.
🕸️ Add photos of your ancestors or deceased loved ones to your altar.
💀 Wear black to honor the Sabbat and the departed.
🕸️ Bake Samhain treats (like soul cakes, barmbrack, Colcannon, or pies) with your desired intentions and positive energy.
💀 Harvest the last fruits and vegetables of the season.
🕸️ Dance and celebrate both life and death.
💀 Invoke and honor deities associated with this sabbath, such as Hades, Hekate, Morrigan, Persephone, Anubis, and more.
🕸️ Use divination tools like pendulums, dice, or tarot cards to communicate with spirits or seek guidance.
💀 Collect acorns, chestnuts, or hazelnuts and keep them until Ostara. Care for them and charge them with your energy, then return them to nature in spring as an offering.
🕸️ Collect animal bones or feathers to honor the natural cycle of life and death.
💀 Play apple bobbing (traditionally done to honor the goddess Pomona). Successfully catching an apple symbolized a successful future relationship. You can place your caught apple under your pillow to dream of your future partner.
🕸️ Try reading in tea leaves.
💀 Carve pumpkins with sigils, runes, or symbols you want to attract into your life.
🕸️ Bake a pumpkin or apple pie and carve a sigil on top.
💀 Focus on healing and transformation spells.
🕸️ Wear Samhain colors in your clothing, makeup, or nails (orange, purple, white, black, brown, and gold).
💀 Set up your altar with Samhain or autumn symbols.
🕸️ Use crow feathers or crow motifs to honor death and transformation.
💀 Carve symbols onto candles and anoint them with essential oils and herbs.
🕸️ Visualize your intentions and desires clearly, and ask your deities or ancestors for help, but remember, they guide you, they don’t do all the work for you.
💀 Try a dumb supper, eating in silence to connect with spirits and ancestors.
🕸️ Connect with crystals associated with Samhain (hematite, obsidian, black tourmaline, bloodstone, smoky quartz).
💀 Decorate your home with Halloween or Samhain-themed decor to welcome the energy of the season.
🕸️ Prepare a dinner and leave offerings for your dead loved ones.
💀 For many pagans, Samhain marks the Witches’ New Year, so channel your energy into spells for new beginnings, healing, transformation, and manifestation, and honor deities connected with witchcraft.
🕸️ And last but not least, don’t forget to have fun and, most importantly, celebrate every sabbath in the way that feels right to you and connects you deeply with your own magic. Blessed Samhain!!! 🎃♡🕷
The Science Behind Crystal Charging
Charging isn’t about the crystal - it’s about you.
Crystals are amplifiers. They don’t “run out of power,” they just match the frequency you give them.
🌙 Charge under the moon to amplify intuition.
☀️ Charge in sunlight for motivation and confidence.
🕯️ Charge with flame for transformation.
💧 Charge in water to cleanse emotions.
The real charge is your intention - the elements are just mirrors.
protection work 101-ish
1. the basics
to start with, lets look at some common terms. i’d define them as follows:
wards = long-term protection on spaces (altar, room, etc) - they’re generally seen as permanent despite needing energetic top ups.
shields = temporary personal protection (veiling, amulets, visualization) - you can also shield someone else, either directly or remotely.
cleansing = an act that resets energy to neutral - can be a space, yourself, or an object.
banishing = essentially telling energy or an entity to fuck off (in varying degrees of hostility). i tend to be more nice than mean, especially if that entity is important or likes to hold a grudge.
these concepts get blurred sometimes, and that's fine. most people use them in overlapping ways - it’s just useful for this post (and this blog) to have a list of definitions.
2. why protection work was hard for me at first, and what i do now
i've always found protection work difficult to keep up long-term. i really struggle with doing big rituals consistently (probably the ADHD). i don't have the energy for it. for ages, my protection either just... didn't exist, or it happened in the moment - shielding when something felt off, visualising energy forming around me, stuff like that. the idea of putting wards up every full moon or doing protective cleansings every sunday made me feel exhausted just thinking about it. the energy it took, the way it felt like a chore didn’t feel right, and had me really questioning if witchcraft was for me. i believe that the more energy you give something, the more energy it has - but the more i complicate things, the harder it gets for me, and the less my magick feels like an extension of myself

What is Beltane?
Beltane is a fire festival celebrated on the night of April 30th into May 1st in the Northern Hemisphere, and around October 31st into November 1st in the Southern Hemisphere. It marks the midpoint between the spring equinox and the summer solstice, honoring fertility, passion, and the sacred union between the divine feminine and masculine. Traditionally, it signals the beginning of the light half of the year, a time of growth, abundance, warmth, and blooming life. Beltane celebrates freedom, love, lust, creativity, and the return of life to the natural world, bringing with it new, flourishing beginnings. May 1st is a day of joy and play. After a harsh winter, it becomes a celebration of renewal, of aliveness, and of nature’s wild rebirth.
⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠄⠄⠂⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁
The History of Beltane
The name Beltane comes from Old Irish Beltene, meaning "bright fire" or "The fires of Bel". Some people link it to the Celtic god Belenus, a solar and healing deity, while others have drawn comparisons to Baal, a fertility god, though that idea is debated and not widely accepted.
Historically, Beltane was celebrated in Celtic regions, most notably Ireland and Scotland, as a pastoral festival. Bonfires were lit on hilltops, and cattle were driven between two of them to protect them from disease and ensure fertility. People would jump over the flames, not just for luck, but as a way to connect with sacred fire and invoke fertility, health, and courage for the coming summer season.
⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠄⠄⠂⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁
Beltane and the Fairy Realm
Beltane is a liminal time, one of the two key points in the year (along with Samhain) when the veil between our world and the Otherworld grows thin. While Samhain leans into the realm of spirits and ancestors, Beltane belongs to the fae.
It is said that on the eve of Beltane, the Fair Folk wander freely, drawn to laughter, music, and offerings left with care. In many old traditions, people avoided disturbing fairy mounds or sacred groves during this time, choosing instead to leave gifts like milk, honey, or sweet bread beneath hawthorn trees. These offerings were meant to honor the fae, invite blessings, and protect against mischief.
Wearing a crown of bluebells on Beltane Eve is said to help one see the faeries, as bluebells are sacred to them. A ring of blooming bluebells is also believed to be a favorite gathering spot for garden faeries.
⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠄⠄⠂⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁
Beltane and the Hawthorn Tree
Few trees are more sacred to Beltane than the hawthorn. Often called the “fairy tree” in Irish and Scottish folklore, it is said to guard the entrances to the Otherworld. Blooming right around May 1st, its soft white-pink blossoms carry the energy of protection, love, and the unseen.
In Celtic tradition, hawthorn trees were deeply respected as portals to the realm of the fae. During Beltane, it was common to tie ribbons or small offerings to the branches while making heartfelt wishes, not demands, but gentle hopes whispered like prayers. Damaging or cutting a hawthorn tree, especially during this sacred time, was believed to bring terrible luck or stir the wrath of the Fair Folk.
⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠄⠄⠂⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁
The Sacred Fire
Fire is the central symbol of Beltane. The festival’s original name literally refers to Bel’s fires, honoring the sun and invoking purification and fertility.
Traditionally, two large bonfires were lit at Beltane, and people, along with their animals, would walk, dance, or even leap between them for blessings, healing, and protection. In some regions, ashes from the sacred fire were scattered over fields to encourage fertility. Couples, especially newlyweds, often passed hand-in-hand through the smoke as a symbol of unity and renewal.
The fire wasn’t just a ritual, it was a living spirit. Lighting it the old way, through friction rather than matches or lighters, was seen as a sacred act, calling upon the raw elemental force of nature itself.
Even today, many Beltane celebrations honor this ancient custom through bonfires, candle magic, and fire rituals. You don’t need a blaze on a hilltop, even a single flame, lit with intention, can carry the sacred spark of Beltane into your home and heart. :D
⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠄⠄⠂⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁
The Maypole
The maypole is one of the most central symbols of modern Beltane celebrations. Though it has roots in English May Day traditions, it’s been beautifully woven into Beltane for its rich symbolism of life, fertility, and union.
The tall, phallic pole rising from the earth represents the God, masculine energy, vitality, and the spark of creation. The colorful ribbons and flowers spiraling around it, often held by dancers weaving in circles, represent the Goddess, the womb, fertility, and abundant life. Together, they form a sacred spiral: a dance of harmony between the masculine and feminine, of earth and sky, movement and stillness.
As dancers move around the maypole, their steps create a living mandala, a spell in motion, tied with laughter and bright ribbons.
The dance itself is a celebration of harmony between forces, of weaving ourselves back into the rhythm of the land.
⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠄⠄⠂⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁
Beltane x Handfasting
Beltane is also a favored time for handfasting, a traditional pagan betrothal or wedding ritual where a couple’s hands are bound together with ribbons, cords, or braided threads to symbolize their union. In ancient times, a handfasting ceremony could last for a year and a day, after which the couple had the choice to stay together or part ways. Today, many modern pagans choose Beltane as a powerful and romantic time to make such commitments, drawn to the fertile energy of the season. Handfastings are often held outdoors, in nature, near fire, under blooming trees, or surrounded by loved ones in sacred space. The vows exchanged during these rituals can be traditional or deeply personal, as the magic of the ceremony lies in the heart connection and the intention to walk beside each other, bound by love and commitment.

A sigil is a symbol charged with your intention.
It’s magic through design — visual spellwork that speaks to your subconscious.
How to Create a Sigil
1. Write your intention clearly
Example: “I am protected”
2. Remove repeating letters
→ I A M P R O T E C D
3. Rearrange the remaining letters into a symbol
Let it flow naturally. Use curves, lines, or blend letters together.
4. Charge it
Focus energy into the sigil using breath, fire, moonlight, dance, etc.
Feel it activate.
How to Use It
• Draw it on your skin
• Hide it under your pillow
• Burn it to release
• Carve it into candles
• Sew it into clothing
• Tuck it in your wallet
✨ Sigils are quiet spells — small, powerful, and deeply personal.
Peace & Tranquility Candle Spell
My life has been in absolute fucking turmoil lately, so I busted out the ol' spell supplies and crafted a super simple, reliable candle spell.
Materials:
Blue candle (or candle in a "calming" color) & something to light it with
Salt
Chamomile (tip: if you can't find loose chamomile at your local grocery store, cutting open chamomile tea bags works just as well)
Lavender
Bay leaf and a marker or pen
Optional: a tool to carve your candle
Instructions:
Pour salt into a mound on a heat-safe tray or dish. Flatten the mound by shaking the tray/dish around a bit. You want a solid circle of salt.
Taking your finger, make a crossroads or X in the salt.
Pour chamomile and lavender into the X - representing "making way" for peace and tranquility in your life.
Optional: You may carve your candle with calming sigils or runes, if you wish, and annoint it with anti-anxiety/calming oil as well.
Place your candle in the center of your salt.
Light your candle, and feel peaceful waves wash over you. Focus on the intention of carving a path for yourself to feel at peace.
You may now write an intention on your bay leaf. It could be something like "I find time to relax", "Peace will make its way to me", etc. Anything will work!
Carefully burn your bay leaf in the candle of your flame. I personally like to use a pair of tongs/tweezers to hold the bay leaf above the candle so I don't burn myself.
Allow the candle to burn out, and feel the stress wash away from your body.

Interpreting your Solar return ⭑。༅:*゚:*:✼✿
Use this as a guide. Use at your discretion.
Work of @notanastrologer.
**SR means Solar return.
Don't copy, plagiarise, steal.
What is a solar return-
It is when sun comes back to it original position (sign and degree) as in your natal chart.
Its like a natal chart for a particular year, it can give you insights of what your year will be like.
💙 FOCUS FOR THE YEAR-
🌬️ First thing first I would l look at the Ascendant sign in SR, house of the sun and SR ascendant lord in your SR chart. This will help you provide insights of what themes will be prominent in that year. Alongside this check your ascendant sign in SR and see which house this sign rules in your natal chart. Theme of that house will be prominent for during that year.
🌬️ Look at planets conjunct your sun in SR chart and which house(s) that planet rules in your SR and NATAL chart.
🌬️ Profection year sign/house will also show which area will be focus for you this year. ( Guidance: Image below shows according to your age what Profection year you have, the outer circle is the house numbers. So as in chart with ages 12,24,36,48,60,72..and so on your Profection year focus will be your first house themes.
⭑・゚゚・*:༅。.。༅:*゚:*:✼✿⭑・゚゚・*:༅。.。༅:*゚:*:✼✿
🖤 Themes by house-
