In November of 2010, I posted this ideal/dream setlist for a Motion City Soundtrack show. Tonight, Motion City played their final live show. Though I wasn’t there tonight, they played almost every song I had listed on this post 6 years ago, plus 10 or so more songs. I’m forever grateful for the songs they’ve written, the shows I’ve seen, and conversations I’ve had with them over the years. Motion City Soundtrack will never be forgotten.

Fifteen years ago today, I was a scared 8 year old kid worried about my Dad’s cousin Buzz. At the time, I had no idea what terrorism was or how the events of the morning would impact my life and the lives of millions around the globe. As I join my proud nation and the world in looking back today, I mourn the loss of so many innocent lives, celebrate the heroics of the NYPD, FDNY, and members of the federal government (including cousin Buzz) aboard Air Force One, and pray that we as a nation may never experience such a tragedy again. This world can be ugly, but together we can work to make it beautiful.

So I’m watching One Tree Hill for the first time and Peyton just smashed a record to prove a point to her dad. It was Dashboard Confessional’s “A Mark, A Mission, A Brand, A Scar.” That’s only been pressed on vinyl once and it sells for an average of $100 these days. I had a mini panic attack. I really hope the actual record she pulled out of that sleeve was some old dusty dollar bin find.
