kids have no concept of anything. i walked into my kindergarten class and one kid asked me what my name was. when i said miss jones, he said “i like that name. did you know i’m in love with you”
i asked my four year old cousin how old he thought i was going to be at my next birthday and he said 8. im 23
once i told a 6 year old that i had finished school and was doing “more school” [university] and she asked “why haven’t you found anyone to marry then”
We were at a museum and I was asking for the student discount and my nine year old cousin looks up at me with his eyes wide and says “wait you’re a STUDENT??”
I used to babysit these three kids and the eldest who was around 11 at the time was talking about how adults are boring and when I told him I was an adult he said, “That’s not true, you’re my age”
our aunt teaches and she has this story about a little girl who really was always pretty quiet in class and then on the final day of kindergarten she just up and stated ‘i’m all teached now. i don’t need to be teached anymore. i’m done of being teached.’
once when i was 19, I told my little cousin that i was 19 and she looked up at me with huge eyes and went, “Does that mean you don’t have to bring an adult with you to the pool?”
My 6 year old cousin saw me driving for the first time, looked up at him mom and said “does that mean she is married now?”
I watched my dad and my niece (3 at the time) arguing over a pair of pants and whether or not they were also a dress. My neice’s argument was that they were, in fact, also a dress because they were blue.
I asked the kids in my daycare class what they thought I should be for Halloween and this little boy goes, “ooh I know! A pickle! You’d be such a good pickle”
On the first day of class with my favorite student of all time, I said, “Are you okay? You look like you have a question.” And she looked me right in the eyes and said, tremulously,
“Can a piranha eat a stapler?”
One time I was working with a kid and he looked up at me and asked “Do you have a boy?” I had no idea what he was talking about, but I told him that I did not have any boys. He looked shocked and then deeply concerned and said “Well, you better hurry up and shave your arms so you can get married; August is next month!”
I was sitting on the floor with my 3yo niece and we were playing with her younger brother’s alphabet blocks and the O had an octopus on it. So I picked it up and asked her what it was.
“Octopus,” she said, all curls and smiles.
“And what kind of animal is an octopus?” I asked. I was looking for “fish” or “sea creature” but I would have accepted almost anything–”weird,” “gross,” even “slimy.” “Underwater” or “it lives in the ocean” would have also been acceptable.
She looks me right in the eye and says, happy as a clam, “It’s a cephalopod.”
I haven’t been the same since.
if youve never physically been in the presence of like, a real live wolf, and you probably wont get the chance to, heres some stuff about them you should know
a wolf’s fur is so unbelievably thick that you can get like, your whole hand into it while petting. and then you can keep going
wolves are a lot bigger than you think they are. think about how big you think a wolf is then just like double that
they dont really smell like dog but they DO smell and youre not going to be able to figure out if its a good smell or not
a wolf really wants to lick the inside of your mouth. he will not stop trying to lick the inside of your mouth at any cost, and generally speaking you need to press your lips together kind of tightly when he approaches your face so that he doesnt worm his damn tongue in there to give you what he thinks is an appropriate greeting
a wolf doesnt really want to look at you while you pet him but he wants you to pet him. hes embarrassed
if a grown ass wolf decides to lay down on you, you just have to deal with it and thats your life now
young wolves, much like young dogs, are overwhelmingly goofy and stupid. a teenage wolf will see your very fragile, very human shoulder and go “i can probably step on that with my full weight” and then he will do it
letting a wolf eat out of your hand is actually not remotely frightening, and youll want to do it all day
I wanna know who did this research.
well, i did!
Ahh thank you for responding! Great picture by the way!
Crows are scary They
use tools
Can be taught to speak (like parrots)
Have huge brains for birds
like seriously their brain-to-body size ratio is equal to that of a chimpanzee
They vocalize anger, sadness, or happiness in response to things
they are scary smart at solving puzzles
some crows stay with their mates until one of them dies
they can remember faces
SIDENOTE HERE BECAUSE HOLY SHIT. They did an experiment where these guys wore masks and some of them fucked with crows. Pretty soon the crows recognized the masks = douchebag. But the nice guys with masks they left alone. THEN, OH WE’RE NOT DONE, NO SIR crows that WEREN’T EVEN IN THE EXPERIMENT AND NEVER SAW THE MASK BEFORE knew about mask-dudes and attacked them on sight. THEY PASSED ON THE FUCKING INFORMATION TO THEIR CROW BUDDIES.
They remember places where crows were killed by farmers and change their migration patterns.
Guys I’m really scared of crows now. (q)
Yeah but have you seen this
A colleague of my dad’s lives next to a lake, and looked out the window one morning to see a duck trapped in the ice. A crow swooped down. “Oh hell,” she thought, expecting carnage, because crows are opportunists. But the crow chipped at the ice with its beak until the duck was free.
Idk of this counts but a few crows saved me from a magpie swooping attack once ,they’re bros who can tell when magpies are being unreasonable and need to chill
I love crows so damn much. When I was fifteen, I hit a pretty serious bout of depression, to the point I was in my room for months. Well, a family of crows made a nest in a tree outside my window. There were two parents and two chicks. One chick was healthy and strong. One was weak, and had a caw like something being strained. It sounded more like a rooster crowing and so my parents jokingly named him ‘Buck’.Well… months passed and Buck’s sibling was taught to fly. His parents focused on the sibling because the sibling was strong. The father stayed behind to try and teach Buck, but I saw him try to fly, fail, and crash to the floor. His father helped him back up into the tree.
Every day, I would watch Buck from my window until one day I opened it and started talking to him. He was small and gangly and he couldn’t caw right. His feathers were all over the place and I felt a kinship. So I made a deal with him. I told him that if he could do it, if he could fly, then I could find the strength to get up. Well… near the end of the season, after talking with him every day, I finally saw him get out of the nest. He went to the edge of his branch, braced himself, and jumped… and just before he hit the ground, he soared back up into the sky. I cheered harder than I ever had before.
That winter, Buck left the area. I was crestfallen. I felt like I’d lost a friend. But I was so damn proud of him.
Cut to the next spring? I’m walking up the driveway one day when suddenly I hear a sound… a broken caw. I look up, and Buck is sitting in a tree above my head. He stared at me and puffed his feathers, then hopped down in front of me and cawed again. I was so damn thrilled, and I told him how proud I was of him. He ruffled his feathers and then soared off into his old tree.
That summer? I heard two broken caws. One from Buck… and one from his chick.
Cut to ten years later? We have a family of crows who all have a very distinct caw and they come here and spend every spring, summer, and fall on our property. Buck still greets me every spring.
that last reply made me wanna cry. that’s so beautiful.
Don’t forget the Russian Crow SLEDDING DOWN A ROOF not once, but twice.
this one morning i kept hearing really loud caws, i remember it was like 5am, LIKE REALLY LOUD AND ANNOYING AND AGGRESSIVE, so loud that i could hear it through a closed window, and i eventually went outside to check it out. there was a crow on my front lawn, it had an injury on its head and couldn’t fly and there were two other crows circling right above it, and they were cawing like mad.
i tried to get close and take a better look and one of them dived super low and tried to attack me. so i went back in the house and chopped some sliced raw meat and tossed it at him from a distance.
a few more times later, very soon after, they could tell i was trying to help, and did not attack me. i was “allowed” to walk up close and pick him up, he couldn’t drink water properly so i had to dip my finger in a bowl and stick it in his mouth.
i did this few times a day and it went on for about a week before he disappeared, i thought he recovered and left, but he came back the next day and lands on me, and i see him around the block quite often, and he would come sit on my shoulder for a few minutes and then fly away again. i feel like i’ve adopted a son.
Best birbs !!
your son is Beautiful and Strong
every time I see this post it has different crow stories and every time I reblog it again because all crow stories are good stories
Like, I wouldn’t want to be on bad terms with a crow, but they are a really smart animal, they aren’t scary You just want to be nice to them because they will know and they will remember, and they will pay you back if you treat them a certain way.
As a side note, I volunteered at a rehab (Hope for Wildlife), where they were rehabbing a crow with a broken wing–who was named Russell Crow. He kept pulling his bandage off so a sleeve was cut off some old clothing and put on him like a little sweater.
!!!!
I don’t think I’ll ever not reblog this. This posts makes me cry and smile at the same time.
i love queerplatonic relationships where one of them is aroace and the other isn't. i love when the allo character has a crush that fades over time. i love when they don't care what they are to each other as long as they're together. i love when romance is an option that they don't choose. i love when both aros and allos feel fulfilled without romance or sex.
i love this game. accidentally launching it, not so much
this fucker keeps me on my toes (keep nearly clicking on nefarious by accident lmao)
move the game icon to a folder titled "EVIL EAR ATTACK GAME" or something /silly
Dude capochin was on MCR’s b stage 😭
HOW DID THIS HAPPEN AGAIN!! WHY DOES MCR LOVE MY DEPRESSED MIDDLE AGED ITALIAN GUYS SO MUCH
Reposting this here, so i can attach the original traditional drawing & the speed paint!
Artfight attack for @sydneylovexcute!
Rose Berry Cookie was very fun to draw! she's so pretty!
traditional drawing under cut
Genshin manekin makes me want to do some yumeship stuff & platonic yume stuff again, but also i feel so incredibly cringe for it...
ough. I feel silly.
looking at my more feminine sona. looking at Ineffa.
Genshin version of Glitchy is the Simulanka counterpart to Souls/Denny. Who at the end of that event went to Teyvat and lives there now. They still have doll-like limbs and probably struggle with viewing themselves as "human" / otherwise regular person.
taps chin. what if. I nudge them together with Ineffa...
Looking through the wiki for references and damn Inspektas regular height is way shorter than I initially interpreted.
Not like it really matters with him specifically (considering the way his body works lol) but I think it's funny 😭 - probably will keep interpreting him as taller tbh and say the height we see him as when next to his gang is more what he'd appear as if he were to walk the regular world as a god. Yk, for Convince of not breaking stuff and actually fitting in places lmao.
Will keep him among the shorter gods tho. Tiny aaaa youngest god. Probably very easy to be picked up by the scruff by the older and taller gods (as long as he doesn't cartoon his way out of being scruffed lol).
Anyways this is me rambling about trying to figure out how to depict characters heights send help.
This all started bc I played with the idea of Inspekta pre-game adopting a kid one way or another, whilst already a God, and now I need to figure out the scaling for all that.
Hiii Zeisty hehehe
You already saw the sketches and WIP design of this lil guy but... here everyone else can look. (Spoilers under cut & in tags!)
Wow look at this little fella and their God of a father. So teeny tiny. In their Papa's big big paw. Telling him about their day...
(Again, this would be pre-game)
Their colour palette isnt entirely finished (bc I'm struggling HARD with the boots...)
The design notes have some spoilers soooo....
so weird to read through presently again. i still used "he" for patty here and everything
Hey it happens. I didn't realise Patty was trans til McMonstruct told me.
oh no don't get me wrong. i knew. I used she/they privately ahaha. I just used he/him publicly back then because I didn't know the fandoms stance yet and wanted to be safe

#idk what this means or if i do this but ig i'll just hold my phone with my pinky stuck out from now on??
Good question, also no that won’t help.
shitty MS Paint 3 minutes doodle, nto entirely accurate: When you have your pinky hooked on the “bottom” edge of the phone for the extra security so it doesn’t slide out of your hand that easily, you’re wreaking damage on your hand, since the pinky is extremely askew from it’s resting position. You might have noticed that when you hold your phone like that for long time it begins to hurt, like when you are gripping a pen too tightly for example.
Green lines - the fingers are going their natural way. Red line - the pinky is way off, that’s bad.
Me: Oh, good thing I never-
Me, looking down at hand: By talos this can't be happening
oh thats why my hadns have started to always be in pain ok
this was disproven years ago. the real problem comes from holding your elbow at 90° or closer for long periods, which compresses the ulnar nerve & causes cubital tunnel syndrome (i have CTS, but i got it from typing, not holding my phone). CTS causes pain/numbness/tingling and weakness/loss of control in the pinky and ring fingers as its primary symptoms. holding your pinky at an odd angle or putting weight on it isn’t the cause of any pain in that finger. it’s a symptom.

And what to really watch out for.

I was thinking of Steven and Pink Steven from SU and Jax/her idealised trans self. She doesn't talk she just stares.
one of the funniest retention charts ive ever seen. what are you guys doing to my metrics lol
you will see us use i/me and we/us pretty interchangeably btw. like there is a vague logic behind it, but most of the time, we put zero effort into actually disecting what that logic is. like sometimes "i/me" gets conflated with someone else because whatever we're talking about is kinda generally applicable, or we can vaguely remember someone else's experience from their perspective for any number of reasons. half of it is also just conditional from using first-person singular pronouns for our entire life until last year.
plurality is messy. we're still people afterall, and people are inconsistent and unpredictable and weird. especially in the case of DID lmao.
I asked one of my (male) friends to stop using the phrase “man up” and he has been using “fortify” for the past two weeks instead and it’s just a little thing but honestly it makes a difference
and tbh it’s also pretty funny when I start to deflate in the library and he leans over and goes “FORTIFY”
Dude, fortify is bangin’. That makes things like you’re some kind of RPG character. Fortify is way better than “man up.”
Happy 10th anniversary to Fortify
